  1. Maybe Strickland will do that when it is apparent that Cotto and Reed have been cleared. I just think you all are outraged at Strickland and Bernie when they were reporting based on information received from a source.
  2. I heard Strickland and Bernie talking about the situation after the intial report and they were defending their source and what was said. They kept hammering home the point that the two individuals at question are not qualified today and that what they reported was correct regardless. That may have been them trying to save face after the fact, but that is all I heard. The point I think that is being missed though is that Bernie and Strickland reported information that they received from a SLU source, I would not be overly concerned with Strick, but whomever gave him this information and that individual likely comes from within the athletic department.
  3. I still fail to see how what Strickland said is wrong. At the time of his report he said that the two recruits had yet to qualify and at the time and as far as I know (I am hardly the Billiken I used to so they may be qualified now and I just missed it) that is still the case. I think when it comes out that these two have been cleared Strickland should report that information. I am pretty sure Strickland was told by a SLU "source" that these guys had not qualified and trusting that source went with it. If 1380 is going to put an individual in a position to essentially break news there is a good chance some of the things reported will end up being false rumors. Strickland and Bernie both reiterated that they trusted the source when I heard them talking about it after the initial report. Let it go because if anyone is to blame it is Bernie and Strick's source for giving them premature information about these two recruits.
  4. It was a joke, Pistol is a good friend of mine and I was looking to get a reaction out of him.
  5. Yeah, I can't understand why Mizzou doesn't schedule Missouri State.
  6. What is wrong with someone saying that SLU would be seen as a potential stepping stone for a guy like Tate? We play in the A-10 which is far from the elite conferences in college basketball. And I don't think Mizzou sees SLU as a rival in anything.
  7. My only real problem with all of this is that if they have qualified then Strickland should report this. From what Strickland said defending himself the day after he made the comment, he merely relayed information from a source that at that point in time the two recruits were not qualified. It is my understanding that at the time of the statement, neither of these two individuals had qualified. I doubt Strickland would have reported this information if he did not have a source. I just don't think that many people in St. Louis care. Bernie and Randy did not even know Ruben Cotto's name. Are Ruben and Willie qualified? If so, then I think it would be in good showing for Ol' Dirty Strick and Bernie to report that these individuals have qualified and that what they reported a couple months back was not accurate. I personally do not care, but when you "break" news concerning young men that is negative towards them you should probably own up if your report ends up being incorrect.
  8. Do you think it is going to be harder for a guy like Majerus to identify these diamond in the rough type players with the increased exposure talented high school basketball players are receiving?
  9. I was curious what people know about Bryant Allen. I know SLU is interested in him and has offered for basketball and being a big Mizzou fan I know the Tigers have extended an offer for football. Has he given any kind of an indication what sport he will be playing in college? If he decides to play football I can't imagine he will find a better suitor for his talent than the Tigers of Ol' Mizzou. From what I hear this kid is a special athlete and will succeed at whatever sport his pursues. I just hope that if he decides to go with hoops that he signs with the Billikens and if he decides on football that he heads two hours west on 70.
  10. I did not hear the initial report, so if he actually said that he guaranteed that Cotto and Reed would never suit up for SLU I regret defending him.
  11. I am not going to defend Andy Strikland because I am by no means a fan of his, but what did he say that was acutally wrong? Is Ruben qualified today or better yet when Andy Strickland made the statement? I would assume that his SLU "source" told him that Ruben had yet to qualify and he went with the story. It would have been wise for him to look into it a little further as far as if Ruben was waiting on a test score and things of that nature, but his statements on its face was accurate. The other thing is that I was listening to the program the next day and Bernie and Randy were joking with Andy about how SLU fans are raising hell and the two of them did not even know Cotto's name so I fail to see how a story like this would raise Strickland's profile. Honestly very few sports fans in St. Louis care about whether or not Ruben Cotto qualifies and you could probably extend that to anything related to Saint Louis University.
  12. Is Soderberg only willing to take a position if it as a head coach? I would think if he wants to coach at any program at or above the level of SLU he will have to start looking at being an assistant. Brad is a very likeable guy and has a good basketball mind so I am really surprised to see him still out of coaching. At least taking this position at Loras will get him a paycheck and it brings him back to a place that he is familiar with.
  13. Unfortunately I would have to say that I am in the same boat as BRoy. There was no conversation had between Majerus and the four it was four guys being told to clean out their lockers and he told the seniors to clean out their lockers the day the season ended as well. Everything I hear about Majerus makes me more and more distant from the program. Maybe I am just naive and the way Majerus treats his players is par for the course, but I would like to believe a coach can be successful and still treat his players with respect. I know Romar was a great role model for his players.
  14. I was curious who some of the prospects are in the upcoming classes from the area. Who are the local guys that we should be hoping to see in a Billiken uniform down the road? I know Griffey has been a highly coveted prospect since he was in 8th grade, but he has verballed to Illinois. I have also heard people mention Bryant Allen from Maplewood. If he chooses to play basketball I would like our chances with him and would love to see him in Billiken blue. It is just hard for me to see a St. Louis kid who could play football at Mizzou or basketball at a mid major take the latter.
  15. You are a legend...first it was Theresa Lisch and now it is Rachel Diener. How can I be you?
  16. If you are looking to get Mizzou involved maybe that would be a good chance for Biondi to try out the Chaifetz as a facility for arena football. Chase Daniel throwing to Jeremy Maclin would pack the house. We should have them take on the old St. Louis Stampede at the Chaifetz. Maybe the next day the Billikens could take on Mike Anderson and his "40 Minutes of What the Hell."
  17. Will we be scrimmaging Memphis again this year and would it be in St. Louis this time around?
  18. Erin Andrews at Pappy's......She does have a nice big ole behind. I'd like to put some barbeque sauce on that butt and just....
  19. Our first game at the Chaifetz is against BC? That will be a nice welcome to college basketball for the incoming freshmen. I am sure Tyrese Rice will be licking his lips when he sees there is a freshman guarding him. Living in the Boston area I watched BC a few time last year and they had some underclassmen with some ability in freshmen Rakim Sanders and Corey Raji and sophomore Shamari Spears who all averaged close to 10 a game I think. They will be a good early test for us.
  20. Since this thread has turned into honest assessments I will give mine: I think Adam has some ability and could have been a serviceable big for us off of the bench. I saw him in practice a few times and thought he had the potential to provide some quality minutes in a back-up type roll and maybe develop into more than that, but when he got into game situations he looked nervous and tight in my opinion. As far as Dustin, he should have never been offered and was in over his head from day #1. He did not have the ability to play for our program. I recall hearing that none of the assistants wanted to offer Dustin, but Soderberg decided to go against his assistants and offered him. That was definitely a mistake. I wish both of these guys well as they will now be in situations where they will have more of an opportunity to contribute.
  21. I was a huge critic of Soderberg and really wanted to move on to a new coach, but even I would not deny that he is a class act; there is no question about that. He is an extremely good guy with strong morals and I think all of us wish him well.
  22. How can you say that no one will work harder? I think it is a load when people say things like that. If he worked so hard, why couldn't he get any decent recruits beyond Kevin and Tommie to sign with the Billikens?
  23. But why does that need to come up on a thread where others are congratulating them and wishing them well. Nobody has said (unless I missed something) anything as far as these kids being a big loss or wishing that they were still on the team so I see no need for it.
  24. Is there any further news on the possibility of Brad going to Florida Atlantic? I really hope he gets that job or he is really going to have to reevaluate things. Kramer would appear to be a nice fit at Miami (OH). I would think that is a decent school to be an athlete at. It is incredible how their lives have changed over the past year.
  25. I agree. There is no reason to take veiled shots at Adam and Dustin. They represented the program well and for that I thank them for their effort and wish them well. I see no reason to make statements on their ability since nobody is on here saying what a huge loss they are. When did Roy become public enemy #1 on this board?
