Curious as to what you saw from Jimerson that contributed to winning that game.

He started 3/4 from the field and scored 8 points.  He had a good start to the game.

From the 10:01 mark in the first half to the completion of the 2nd overtime, he was 0/10 from the friend and committed 2 turnovers.  He had 2 or 3 air balls that might as well be turnovers.  He did not record an assist.  This was the worst 20 minute stretch we’ve seen from a Billiken player in a long time.

I love Jimerson and think he’s been an incredibly reliable asset that I didn’t foresee.  To say his average defense was a net positive in winning this game is absurd.  I don’t think he’s earned “unsittable” treatment and would’ve loved to see more Williams or Hargrove.  He simply didn’t have it and he costed us last night.

They count the points from the first ten minutes too. While he didn’t score in the second half, he kept working and had to be accounted. It all contributes to the win. I disagree. He is unsittable

It seems unlikely given the season Gibson is having. When you average 18 a game on 44% from three it’s near impossible to lose your starting spot.

I can’t see him starting over Nesbitt either unless JNezz just doesn’t improve at all over the summer, which seems a little unlikely to me.

Parker will find a way to get minutes. He’s very much D1 ready. My question is just how quickly he can get up to speed defensively.

    Is he better than Williams?

im a big believer in strickland.   i saw in the right system he would be fantastic.   i can imagine him in the shaka havoc being a star.   the guy imo is the best athlete on the team.

I don’t see it. What does he do besides dunk?

I really liked Kent.  Tall, decent athlete with nice range on her shot.  She was a loss.

Stewart was a huge risk but with her talent it was worth it.  Didn't pan out.  Nothing Stone could do.  Stewart went from Houston to SLU to Mo Bap and left there.  She's not currently playing.

Rice is barely in the rotation on the worst team in the Missouri Valley.  She was recruited over.  Not a loss.

Clark is good but flawed.  She is averaging 14 points a game for a middling Evansville program.  She shoots 36% from the field and 23% from 3.  She's taken over 80 3s.  Lots of volume and not much to show for it really.  She'd never get those shots here.  That is why she is gone.  She's decent defensively, and a good rebounder for her size but a backcourt with her and Ciaja is too small and doesn't have enough ball handling skills to run an offense.

Stone is in a tough spot.  This should have been her year but transfers, injuries, little development has tanked the season.

Ciaja is great but she's super flawed as well.  Too small, not a good shooter, not really a PG.  A lot of A10 teams have players like her  The good ones she is a 2nd option.  On our team now she is option 1,2,3, and 4.  She's put up huge numbers for the program but no postseason success.

What comes back next year?  Not much.  I don't have a ton of faith in her recruiting at this point.  I don't see an impact player on next years roster.  The team could be really bad.

Stone's offense really features bigs.  I don't understand why she can't get players better than Sadie to play the post and just eat.  In Stone's offense in the A10 a really good big with size could average 20 10 easy.  Brooke puts up big numbers and she's really just an athlete out there, not much skill at all.  In this transfer portal we should be able to find a big who wants to be the Shaq of the A10.  Stone's could put the ball in her hands every possession.  One of the things Stones teaches well is entry passes.  The mens teams could learn a thing or two from her.

Still big picture, this is a down year for Stone and the team could still finish .500.  Considering the program history that is actually pretty good.  I really want to see the women make an NCAA tourney.  The program has the capability.  Not sure of Stone can get us there.

Doesn’t she have a good class coming in next year?

Don’t Brooke and Ciaja have a Covid year of eligibility they could use next year?

  5. Can a Kentucky fan approach a SLU player, who has not entered the portal, and offer them an NIL deal to transfer to Kentucky?

Hasn’t this given boosters free reign to actively recruit players? Shouldn’t all players have business agents or attorneys to properly market themselves, make sure they have binding agreements and are not being taken advantage of?

With the new transfer rules, and the NIL now in place, 'poaching' has taken a different direction.  If SLU can't deliver NIL sponsors but another school can, players will look at the $$ and jump. And I don't blame them.

My impression is that every school is developing this angle for transfers.  I'm not connected on social media like others, but I am not aware of any major NIL deal for any SLU players.  I'm talking multiple thousands of dollars (or tens of thousands), not multiple hundreds of dollars as being major.

I'm just making these numbers up, but if Pearl has a $25,000 per year NIL deal for Nesbitt and SLU $2,000 per year, what would you do?  (All of this through third party.)  SLU alumni and St. Louis sponsors need to match or come close to matching what is out there, or SLU will lose out on players seeking the best NIL deal.

Hypothetically, can a donor set up NIL corporation, fund it and pay each player $100,000 for a license to use their photo?

i see a lot of revisionist memories of perkins since his injury.   please dont think i dont respect how good he was.   but i also remember that he was getting beat up every game by the end of last season once the opponents had figured out he had become the goto man on the billikens

yes it was said that he had worked hard in the summer getting stronger, but that doesnt mean that teams were still not going to beat him up every game and try to limit his effectiveness.   i refuse to use the "what if perkins....." excuse.   there should be the talent on this team to overcome the loss of javonte imo.

imo there was some problem(s) exposed saturday.   i dont pretend to know that it is sitting in the 8th row caddy cornered from the billiken bench, but there was a lot of strange out of character happenings going on it seemed to me watching stuff not and happening on the floor.   i would love to be wrong and it was just an off night.

i do not agree "the better team won".   yes UAB is better than harris stowe.   but we have more talent imo.   i say our talent didnt play up to their capabilities.   hopefully it was indeed just a blip on the season.   i truly wanted to run the non-conference part of the schedule so possibly i am seeing and overthinking things to try to explain my disappointment.

Who sits 8th row caddy corner from the Billikens bench?

I saw the two bigs also as a realization that GJ isn't quite getting/hitting shots right now.

GJ hasn’t taken a shot in the last two games. You can’t play him over Hargrove if he can’t get a shot off.

It’s an interesting thought/question. His right-handed baby hook looks much more natural.

Why not try the opposite hand? It couldn’t get worse. The other approach would be throwing it up there with enough force to ensure a long rebound to give us a better chance to get the rebound.

MU is better than everyone thought.  Tilmon would absolutely dominate us if Has ever got in foul trouble or had to come out. But I still think we are the better team. They don’t have two guys that can put it in the bucket like perk and Jimerson.

Bell could defend him. So could Linsen. Although they would give up some height, so could Thatch, Goodwin and Hargrove. Tilmon doesn’t tend to dominate anyone. When he was a senior and teammate of  sophomore Hargrove on East St Louis, Hargrove was the better player.
