  1. I'm not sure that is "fair" since the Kent State game was Kevin's first game back after the tailbone injury. However, obviously Kevin's season as a whole should be looked at in determining whether he has been a "senior leader" as the topic of this thread puts it. I'd say Kevin is still having a good season, but obviously he hasn't elevated his game the way some of us hoped. Hopefully, he really turns it on during conference play.
  2. I feel like our confidence has been built up by the wins over inferior opponents. I'm hoping otherwise, but I predict a loss for the Bills tonight. I say DePaul 63 - Bills 60. P.S. Remember when Marque Perry used to just go off on DePaul. Those were the days.
  3. Why should non-smokers be the ones who are inconvenienced with not being able to go to restaurants they enjoy. Shouldn't smokers (who are harming the well-being of others) be the ones who are inconvenienced (less so) by having to step outside for a smoke. If smoking is banned in restaurants, its not like smokers can no longer go to restaurants, it just means that they have to go outside (and many restaurants will accommodate them with an outdoor patio).
  4. Don't get me wrong, I have no trouble rooting for Xavier or any other conference foe in games like this. However, if Stanley Burrell still played for them, I would be rooting for him to sustain a career ending injury.
  5. This would be a big win for the A10 and should be a winnable game for Xavier. Its odd/fun to root for your enemies during the non-conference season.
  6. While the last 3 minutes were pretty terrible, I was listening to the post game show and Majerus said that their plan the whole game was to stop Liberty from knocking down 3s (which they did as Liberty shot only 17.4% from 3 and Seth Curry only had 2 3pt attempts). So basically the last 3 minutes Liberty stopped trying to get 3s and just drove to the basket. Since our guys were trying to stop the 3s, driving to the basket was easier. However, it would have been nice to see someone stop the ball or draw a charge (then when Willie did the refs called a foul on him, so what are you gonna do). Also the refs not calling traveling on a few of those drives helped out Liberty. A comfortable 17 point win would have been better, but a win is a win. I'm happy they pulled this one out.
  7. I just took a look at MO State's schedule. They have really given it to the state of Arkansas this year beating Arkansas, Arkansas - Little Rock, Arkansas State, and Central Arkansas. They have 5 wins and 4 of them are against Arkansas teams. That is pretty crazy. I wonder what the Bills record is for most wins in a season against 1 state.
  8. 10 of Samford's 23 1st half points were from the free throw line.
  9. It looks like foul trouble has hurt them so far. Eberhardt, Conklin, Thompson, and Lisch all have 2. SLU was up 21 -5 with about 10 mins to play.
  10. John Brandenburg's line for Virginia who has played 3 games 1 games, 5 min, 1 rebound, 3 fouls Kramer Soderberg's line for Miami OH who has played 4 games 4 games, 34 min, 4-6 fg, 1-3 3-pt fg, 0-1 fts, 2 fouls, 2 assists
  11. with Nebraska playing the 4 guards and presumably being quick/up-tempo, this could be a good game for Willie Reed. He is quick enough to keep up with the guards, but has a large height advantage. Unfortunately, Willie does have the stamina to be on the court for very long. Meanwhile, Thompson might be too slow and be somewhat of a nonfactor. Also, hopefully KM can keep up with Cookie's quickness and play the same lockdown defense he did against BC's Rice. I say SLU wins 58-52.
  12. I added a few questions as well, but nothing has happened. I think the moderator (if there is one?) has to approve the questions. There is an email address on the application of some lady from the Watercooler network you can contact if you want to be a moderator.
  13. Anyone who hasn't joined this yet needs to do it. Our Bills are currently 12th out of 12 in the A-10 (it appears that La Salle does not have a facebook fan group) with just 376 fans (Richmond is at #11 with 530 and Dayton is #1 with 5432). That is pathetic. Join the group and invite your friends.
  14. What do you think Xavier's chances are at a #1 seed? I think it could happen if they win out and win the A-10 tourney which are both likely. They are 10th in the AP poll right now, but a lot of team ahead of them lost this week (1 Memphis, 4 Kansas, 5 Duke, 8 Butler). I don't think it is crazy to think if they beat Dayton today Xavier could just a couple spots potenitally in the poll. Also they are currently 6th in the RPI (behind Tennessee, Memphis, UNC, Duke, and Texas) Now, assuming Memphis wins out from here and wins C-USA tourney that is one #1. Another #1 probably goes to UNC or Duke whoever wins the ACC tourney. Same goes for Texas and KU with the Big 12. Then there is Tennessee assuming they don't stumble they get a #1 seed. Also UCLA winning the Pac-10 puts them in consideration or maybe even Georgetown winning the Big East. I think Xavier's best chance is Memphis, UNC (beating Duke in the final regular season game and winning the ACC tourney), and Tennessee getting #1s. Another team besides Texas or KU winning the big-12 and another team besides UCLA or Stanford winning the Pac-10. Also they need Georgetown not to win the Big East probably. Upon further examination, it seems more unlikely than I originally though, but it still could happen if a few top teams stumble like they did this week. There is a lot of basketball left to be played. Either way Xavier probably has a #2 locked up if they win out.
  15. I agree that Danny has been great lately. However, I like the energy he brings off the bench. I think he should stay as our 6th man because of his versatility and his energy. I'd go with a starting lineup like this AK BE LM TL LK Then you could sub in Danny for anyone in that lineup and just shift guys around. Danny could basically get starting minutes, but bring his energy off the bench. Polk could come in and run the point when Kevin needs a break (if TL can't do it) or come in for defensive purposes. Bryce could provide help down low off the bench.
  16. Duquesne recently lost to #22 Rhode Island 78-80. Granted the game was in Rhode Island, but I wonder if any Dukes fans were there or watched it on TV and could give reports of terrible officiating like we got against Dayton. That would certainly give more clout to the "A-10 wants to get 3-4 teams into the dance" thing.
  17. I don't think that is an accurate statement Roberts still scored with Kevin on him, but Kevin certainly did a better job than Polk. Roberts just shot 3's over Polk, but with Kevin on him he needed to use screens or try to drive and draw a foul (which the horrible refs gave him everytime even if he was just out of control at the end of the drive and tossing up a prayer). Lisch did a great job on him at the end of the game when the refs gave Dayton 2 chances and they tried to go to him, but Kevin didn't give him anything.
  18. I think having Danny Brown start over Polk would even be better than giving Polk so many minutes. Polk is a complete non-factor on offense and other teams quickly realize he cannot make a shot thus they can sag off of him on D. At least Danny can knock down a wide open 3. On a side note, I don't think Knollmeyer looked too bad out there for his 2 minute stint against Dayton. He knocked down that turn around 8 footer and seemed to be okay on D. Relphorde on the other hand looked totally lost.
  19. Good luck. Get well soon Tommie. Geez. If he has been playing on a bum ankle for the past two years it makes you wonder how great he will be with good ankles. I can't wait for next year. Go Bills.
  20. If you read an earlier post Tom made to his blog, he seems to think that Eckerle will have an athletic scholarship for all 4 years. He acknowledges he could go back to his academic scholarship, but seems to think it is unlikely. Therefore, that leaves us with 2 more open scholarships.
  21. Majerus left announced he was going to coach USC, then left for health reasons. Donovan saw dollar signs decided he was going to Orlando, then when his buddies at Florida talked to him again they convince him to stay. They are completely different situations. Majerus was a little too ambitious in thinking he was healthy enough to coach (I think his mother's health also had something to do with it.) Donovan just flip-flopped. It would be different if Majerus took another coaching job right after he backed out of coaching at USC, but that wasn't the case.
  22. Its still the 2006-2007 roster. Brad was the coach of the 2006-2007 team. Once the 2007-2008 roster comes out (which is probably not official yet and they do not have all the player bios and stuff) they should post it and have Majerus as the coach.
  23. "1. A quality education. 2. Somewhere he can play 'early and often.'" Seems like SLU fits those categories much better than Mizzou. Better education and he'd likely get more playing time. I also like the part about how Billy Donovan called him after deciding to return Florida....okay thanks for the call Billy, but if you were ready to bolt to the NBA for the money how can he trust you now? I would think Donovan "the flip-flopper" should have lost all his credability. You don't go on national TV and announce you are taking a job and then decide you don't want to do it a few days later.
