This is one of the first times I've ever known I couldn't handle watching something. I won't let myself watch the Theismann hit and I can't watch this injury. Sometimes I almost make myself puke just thinking about 18 months ago when I blew out my ACL, MCL and my left lateral meniscus. I'm about as curious as they come, but no thank you on this one!

The onus is as much on the starters for not burying Richmond when they had the chance. I suspect Brad told them to stall as well, but their lackadaisical passes made Richmond feel like they were still in it. JJ should have started, and I had hoped to see Wendell for the last five minutes, enough to get off several shots and actually get into the flow of the game a little bit. Oh well, hat's off to Wendell. You have now scored infinitely more points than me at the D-1 level.

I just realized this hilarious omen from earlier today... A small spider started creepin up my cube wall earlier, and instead of squashing it or just letting it be, i squirted Germ-X Hand Sanitizer all over it, killing it instantly... Tommie and Kevin are going to squirt all over Richmond's oversized freshmen from beyond the arc and we'll cruise all the way. Ian and JJ will have some key boards to break their spirits and Wendell might even rattle in a 15-footer. I figured it was about time to start getting ready for the game... GO BILLS!!!

Yeah, you're right, I guess I was just all fired up about the Arena being named after something I can relate to at face value, but I'm not throwing 12 mil up there either. I suppose there's really nothing better than an Alum giving back, as that's the whole purpose. I feel like a putz now... guess I'm just having a case of the Wednesdays... Well, I'm not excited nor am I disappointed. I expected to be super pissed or super ecstatic about this announcement, and the fact that I am neither is a letdown in itself... what an AVERAGE thing to happen halfway through an AVERAGE wednesday with AVERAGE weather, and an AVERAGE workload. I hope the game tonight is not AVERAGE. I just don't think I could handle it.

dammit, that sucks and worst of all is nothing comes to mind to even parody that name. i mean props to the guy for donating so much, and his name doesn't suck, but the name of the arena he paid for now sucks. chafe-it arena - way too close to vagisil arena cheez-it arena - i guess the whole crowd could suck their fingers during rallies that's all i've got, damn this sucks.

Could very easily be just Orkin Fieldhouse, which would still be an f'ing joke, but who knows... How about the Lemp Arena, with rafters haunted by 100 24/7 smoke machines??? The Bills could come out to: SHOT THROUGH THE HEART, AND YOU'RE TO BLAME!!! YOU GAVE THE ARENA A BAD NAME!!! bad taste - check.

Why someone would agree to walk-on to KU is beyond me, if it's just about the athletics. Eckerle walking on here makes a lot more sense, because he's guaranteed a free ride anyways, his cousin goes here, more prestigious academics, etc. What's to say KU won't land some killer recruits and tell him "tough $h!t", "you're up $h!t creek w/out a paddle", "p!$$ up a rope", "take a hike", "cry me a river", "tough t!tt!e", "take off, hoser" (strange brew), "better luck next year" (happy gilmore), "too bad, so sad", or plain old "get lost, hippy"? Sounds like he might have had scholarship offers from several real fine schools, unless he has family tradition at KU, I just don't get it. Oh well, I'm not losing sleep over it, I never heard of him until it didn't matter anyways.

Much respect for having season tickets for as long as I've been alive. With that said, I think that it is as much the fans' job to cheer and support as it is the players' and coaches' job to win and entertain. Looking at it from a recruit's perspective, I wouldn't want to come play for fans that wouldn't outwardly support me. I know that "older" fans comprise most of SLU's base, and that without their hard-earned monetary contributions, it would be hard to sustain a solid program. But at the same time, since we all know how squeaky clean SLU's athletics program is, as a recruit, I wouldn't care how much money people were donating, because I wouldn't be seeing any of it. I would (in this particular order) want to win, be on TV, have students on campus worship the ground I walked on, and have the fans go nuts when I played well, as well as go nuts when I needed inspiration to play well. By no means do I want the "old" fanbase to be depleted in any way. I do, however, want the student fanbase to grow exponentially If the students simply won't support the team, no matter the circumstances, then so be it, and even more glory to the faithful alumni who never quit cheering, no matter how subdued. But if it is possible that the students do care, and might just need a nudge to become rabid TOURNEY TEAM fans, then I think that building the arena, an obvious attempt at boosting student attendance, recruiting clout, media exposure, and, most importantly, school spirit and winning percentages, is the best decision this university can make.

Clientele. Boosters are essential, but I feel like I'm at a dog show sometimes.

Plain and simple - I don't feel like I am wanted, nor do I belong at the SCOTTRADE CENTER!!! There's Blues stuff everywhere, it's OLD, and hell, the only basketball stuff I saw walking around was a display for the MVC tourney. There will be Billikens stuff EXCLUSIVELY all over the new arena. The kids can see how they stack up next to a lifesize cutout of Dwayne "Double Penetration" Polk!, get up against a green screen and be in their own music video of "I'm Too Cool for Skool" with Justin Johnson, or even order a sometimes delicious, but mostly completely average gyro complete with Vouyoukas sauce! The school has really gotten it done architecturally with the new BSC or the BMC or whatever, and the newly renovated Rec Center; I think the arena will be the best addition yet. If I was in school when the arena opened (and didn't have to work every night like I did through college) I would be drunker than Anna Nicole's ghost at her own funeral, jumping and screaming at every game. I guess all I can say is that if we get the recruits we're supposed to, the Arena arrives as scheduled, and we STILL don't have that college basketball atmosphere, then sadly, we just might never have it. But I think we've got a great shot at really jump starting a good program soon.
