  1. Anyone may attend. In fact, they will invite as many people as possible to come to support the notion that everyone is excited about the hire.
  2. When he's stomping the sidelines at the first exhibition game. Until then, who really knows!!
  3. My company, which is a rather large sponsor of Billiken Athletics, has been informed that there will not be a press conference today. Note: Earlier today, I posted that we were contacted by the Athletic Department to please attend a press conference, at a time to be determined, where the new coach would be presented. If we are contacted tomorrow, I'll post it.
  4. As a sponsor of the athletic dept, I was called and told a press conference may be coming up soon. They would like us to attend and will inform us of the time, if, it in fact, occurs. He would not reveal who the coach might be.
  5. I absolutely agree with you. At the banquet, it was very obvious that the players are close to AT. Thanks TDELL for the info.
  6. I doubt that. The "west county seniors" and their north and south county brotheren are the regulars. You young guys just talk a good game!!
  7. I think the point may be moot. RM's team played a lot of low scoring games. We'll need Tucci to lower the points to 50 or over.
  8. A charter allows you to leave for the away game when you want and return the same day of a night game. It's a much easier process going, because you don't have to be at the airport early. Most commercial flights are gone by the time a team would be ready to travel after a game. Even the larger cities.
  9. I', curious, assuming the good father makes all, or most of the changes that have been discussed, aren't a like amount of additional expenditures required for the women's programs? Nobody had discussed the affects this due to Title IX. While the academic support would benefit all student athletes, the other expenditures, coaches salaries, travel, etc, would have to be matched on the women's side.
  10. He also said that he thought SLU would have a new coach by the end of MAY!!!!
  11. I spoke with BS at the banquet for at least 15 minutes. He had zero idea of this. In fact, he got in a car on Monday, drove to Kentucky and had a home visit with Kentucky's Mr. Basketball. Who, by the way, was supposed to be on campus this weekend. If, as some suggest, the Alexander loss was the final straw, how did that affect CL's non-attendance at the banquet? Alexander only informed his coach on Monday evening. Peterson didn't decide until Tuesday. My guess is Cheryl already knew and felt guilty saying nice things, knowing what was about to unfold. The trip to Kentucky probably stood in the way of something happening Monday. The Good Father probably didn't realize BS hit the road early and wasn't sitting by his phone waiting for his highness to call.
  12. It is my understanding that all donations to the athletic department go through the Billiken Club (other than gifts for the building). As of a couple of weeks ago, the entire fundraising efforts of the Billiken Club this year had generated only $350,000. Which by the way, is a new record for the Club. With over 400 members, I doubt there are very many big donors, given the low level of giving.
  13. We can speculate forever about why, when, etc. My immediate concern is that the good father does not have a hire in place. Intuitively, I've felt that a new coach was in place and would be announced Thur. or Fri. However, after reading the press release again and the info from Earl Austin and Frank Cusamano today, it's beginning to sound like we've just begun a search. Certainly the interviews with T Liddell and K Lisch indicates that they will be allowed to talk to the candidates. While the spring signing period runs through May 16, May 1-16 is a black-out period and coaches can have no contact with recruits. Seems like this class is done and we MAY have 2 new Billikens. Next year is shaping up horribly. Apparently, the good father and a rich buddy or two have pulled the trigger on this action. I hope they are right and come out with a great hire, but the way this has been handled thus far, leaves me cynical. I sure hope I'm wrong!
  14. Actually, by his own admission, Huggins recruited the entire year he was out of work. He went so far as to say, that not being a coach made it easier to recruit, because he didn't have to comply with NCAA rules.
  15. His prep school coach stated that he lacked the quickness to play the point in college.
  16. Unc, Mimi and I are going. What time are you and Donna arriving?
  17. Nate indicated above that he had heard Harris has recently scheduled a visit to St. Louis.
  18. I was told 2 weeks ago that they were a couple of weeks behind schedule, but they would make it up in the spring and summer. Besides being ready for graduation next year, they plan on at least one concert prior to graduation.
  19. The school cannot schedule a press conference, but the individual player may. Usually, the high school coach or AD arranges for it. The university may not comment on any recruit until the receive the actual signed LOI. Players typically fax them to their new coach, but the original has to be received by the university.
  20. Is it possible to have too many athletes? I'd rather have a bunch of 6'4" to 6'7" athletes that can play, than a 6'9" development project. This kid is apparently the 10th rated player in Florida, you can hardly blame BS for trying. Personally, seems to me that our lack of athleticism was a huge problem and BS is offering kids that can improve on it. Last year most of our losses were to teams that just were better athletes. With the exception of North Carolina, we were not beat by power teams, and even in their case, it was the 3 point shooting that killed us. Agree or not, BS has said countless times he's going after kids that will upgrade the program. Some of us believe that might be the wrong strategy, but he's sticking to it. I'm sure we all hope it works out, the proofs in the pudding.
  21. Unc, he decided to concentrate on his own skills and building himself up physically. So, he's not planning on playing AAU this summer.
  22. Sorry, I thought he was talking about the new building. Ticket prices are not changing much next season, depending on the final number of home games booked. I heard the other day that next year's schedule is far from done. Part of the difficulty is trying to get some home and home series with teams that will play here in 08-09. That could make for a tough road schedule next year. We know for sure Pacific, Loyola and SIU will be here next season. We go to MSU.
  23. It is my understanding that some seats will require an annual donation, which is probably included in the price you indicated. There are several donation levels, depending on where a seat is located. Other seats will not require any donation, and the cost will drop appropriately.
