  1. And to think Westminster isn't even considered the favorite to win the SLIAC, which isn't exactly a D-III power conference. But it is improving.
  2. Femi John wasn't there. Majerus said his aunt (I think) passed away and he was at the wake or something. Every other player was there.
  3. You could not view practice and they didn't have beer - much to coach's dismay. But the event was nice besides that. There wasn't a huge turnout - as you could guess - publicized too late. Here is what when down. You got to eat a brat and get a drink first. The players then sat for autographs - had a poster schedule there, which was nice. After that, coach and the players sat down on the floor in the Fetz. Coach rambled on for a few minutes before leaving to talk to a recruit. The players introduced themselves and took questions. Question of the night - how will you guys replace Bryce Husak's speed and athleticism? That got a good rise out of everyone. After the players spoke, Majerus returned and took questions. As you can guess, he rambled on for a while but I thought he was entertaining. I don't think we learned much new from the event - he just said to stay patient and he is building this thing for the future. He can see really good things in another year or two. This year could be up and down with so many freshman getting their feet wet. He is adding four or even five recruits for next year. I'm sure I missed a lot, but that is a quick synopsis.
  4. SLUs season tix are overpriced. I'm kind of kicking myself a bit because I could have gotten Blues season tickets for $500 when they were running that promotion for name your price. That is 42 games and they weren't on the ends. Upper deck in the second row. Oh well. I just think SLU needed to make some noise before charging people so much for tickets. I go from paying like $200 for the season to $450 and I also joined the Billiken Club to get better priority for seats - nice chunk of change for a horrific schedule. And I realize the new arena has a lot to do with it, but just saying.....
  5. Not sure why you are trying to throw Nate under the bus here. From everything I heard, Lisch was headed to D-III Fontbonne, which is far from a D-I school. So I wouldn't think he was getting a whole lot of looks, especially from D-I schools. Am I happy to see him on board at SLU? Sure, but the mudslinging isn't needed here.
  6. There is fantasy college basketball. There is fantasy anything (keep your mind out of the gutter here). Seriously, you can get in fantasy fishing leagues or even bull riding - to name a few. Crazy.
  7. Lance is a good head coach. I'm glad to see him back as the head man and at the high school level. He is a great head coach that will teach young kids the right way to play the game. I know him from back as his days as Webster's head coach. Quick story. He called one of the greatest plays I have ever seen in my years of watching basketball. Webter is down two with about two or so seconds on the clock. He calls timeout and Webster has the ball at half court. The play he calls is something they never practiced (at least that is what I was told from the players). He had the inbound passer throw the ball off the backboard. The ball came right to a player at about the free throw line and he drained the shot to send the game to overtime, where Webster ended up winning. Who calls that at that point of the game? Unreal. I will never forget that.
  8. I don't know. Maybe he just ignored the Billiken Club stuff since he already gave to the school. Who knows? Roy is right, I don't know the whole story. I'm not trying to cause trouble, I just found the story interesting. I also think SLU would do all they could to make a big donor like this happy, but I guess it is too late. I just think some things could be handled better than how this process all went down. Again, I benefitted from the process because we joined the Billiken Club and got a decent number. I just think you should treat your loyal season ticket holders better, regardless of if they are in the Billiken Club or not.
  9. Good story. Well, interesting story. Not going to reveal names, but a guy just recently picked out his seats for the new place. He had seats on the floor for several years. He had his number called towards the end of the process, though. He ended up with seats in the second deck because as we all know, the seats down low went pretty fast. Needless to say, he was very upset. But here is the kicker, the business he owns donates $25,000 a year to SLU – has done this for several years. He doesn’t donate it to the athletic department, though, just the whole school. He was told Billiken Club members got priority for tickets. So if he gives $125 to the Billiken Club, he gets better seats. The $25,000 he gives to the school apparently means nothing. Wow. Now, he isn’t going to donate anything to the school after this fiasco. Not sure about everyone here, but I’m not sure this process was handled right. And we played the system, I’ll be the first to say it. We have never been Billiken Club members, but joined this year and jumped ahead of several people we know that had season tickets for many, many years. They have donated a lot more money to the program than us just through their season tickets. I’m not sure what should be done, but I think a different priority system needs to be put in place. I don’t think the current one was thought out too well. Oh well.
  10. Although I'm not fan of Strickland, I still wish we had a more definitive answer on the score. I'm still not sold on any of the stuff I have seen, heard or read. I'm not sure what to believe. We are all quick to throw Strickland under the bus, but I'm not going to do that until we know for sure.
  11. We have just two season tickets, which I think will help us. . . . . I think.
  12. We are right around 1,100 (not sure the exact number) and pick at 7:08 tomorrow night. We have the cheapest seats in the place. I'm anxious to see how many of those have been picked over. From the sounds of it, not much. We'll see.
  13. Well said Roy. Tell that to Bernie. I still can't believe he wrote a column, praising Irons for going to jail and once again setting an example. Unreal.
  14. It seems I'm in the minority, but our numbers went up. I'm not exactly sure the jump because I don't have the paperwork but we are now just over 1,000, which is a pretty good jump from where we were if I remember right (I think we were close to 2,000 before that). We joined the Billiken Club a few months back to increase our standing for the coming season. It seems to have worked, but I'm not sure we needed to do it from what I'm reading and hearing about season ticket sales. Oh well.
  15. Not good. I would think that is legit. Oh well. That hurts. He would have really helped next season. I'm anxious to see what Bernie says after this.
  16. Not sure about the beer, but if it matters, the tickets are a couple bucks more day of the game compared to buying them in advance. I just got mine the other day and noticed that on the website.
  17. I think the ticket sales are lagging some because they are pricing some people out. I know several people, including some long-time season ticket holders, who have been turned off by the price of the tickets.
  18. I know he is playing out of position and all, but I can't take Eberhardt anymore. He is horrific. His defense is just awful and he can't finish to save his life. And he has played the most of all the big men today. I just don't see it with him - no progression at all.
  19. Thanks for the responses. I guess it makes the most sense to shell out the money for the Billiken Club for at least this season and go from there. Just hard for me to donate money to a program I really have no affiliation with besides being a basketball fan (didn't go to SLU or have any relative or anything play on the team). Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do. Thanks again for the input. I have a much better understanding of everything now.
  20. Wondering if I could get some help/guidance for next year. Currently, we have three season tickets. We plan to get tickets for next season in the new arena, but are told we are on the bubble because of a lack of points. We have the cheapest seats you can get but have had them for three seasons. My dad got hosed in the whole deal with the points - he had season tickets for like 15 seasons with a group of guys but they weren't in his name and they stopped getting them a few seasons back. He didn't get any credit for that. Oh well. We aren't members of the Billiken Club, though, which would help our standings as well. I'm just kind of confused how this all works. I understand the point system and all, but I don't see how all the current season ticket holders can't just get tickets in the new place. Don't the numbers add up. I would think that they wouldn't give new season tickets to people before us since we have had them in the past. I also wonder how many are part of the Billiken Club. We were told our standing for tickets could go from like 2,200 to 700 if we joined. That is quite the jump. Are many in the same situation like us? Also, does anyone know how the season ticket sales are going or how they are projected for next season? I think that will be a huge factor for us if we stay put like we are right now. I would think some will be turned off by the price. We got three season tickets for less than $300, which is far from the price of next season. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  21. The first link (CSTV one) on the forum worked for me. The others didn't. Good stuff. Thanks moytoy.
  22. I would trade down and play as well as long as it isn't a terrible academic school. My thinking is you have your whole life to work but you only have so long to play sports. I know - your school will determine your job in a lot of instances - but again, unless it is a school not widely regarded, you can still do just fine with a degree.
  23. Then neither does going to Fontbonne
  24. Word is that Danny Lisch is going to Fontbonne (D-III). I think an announcment is supposed to be out soon.
  25. Hate to say it, but Husak was a difference maker when he was on the court last night - he had five points, five rebounds and two blocks in 11 minutes. BE was solid offensively, but his defense and rebounding was lacking. I think the game would have been closer in the first half with Husak out there, but he was in foul trouble. Sure, Husak took a bad three in the second half, but I still think he gives us the best chance to win when he is out there. He rebounds and plays defense in the middle. BE is playing out of position and it shows.
