  1. " I think you summed it up well, I agree with you that a C >is enough to pass. My question from here is ... how many C's >is he allowed to get?" I don't know the answer to that question, Skip. I just think now is not the time to panic. Lots of things are going to happen that none of us can predict. Hopefully, many good things, probably some bad things. I do think that a C means that one is on the cusp. Brad's work and the program's health warrant review at the conclusion of each year until such time as there is some equity in the growth bank, as it were.
  2. You are splitting hairs and the comparison is inane.
  3. For those that have cared to notice, I've been a Brad supporter.I think he's a decent man and intelligent enough to figure this thing out. I believe that he goes about his business the right way ethically and I believe that if you do enough things right in life, you will succeed over time. I consider this season a mild disappointment because I believe the team underacheived. I also believe they improved over last year's performance and their record would indicate that that is the case. I'm afraid that slow steady growth is what can be realistically expected. Like many others, I'm apprehensive about our ability to continue that improvement based upon our current recruiting situation. I also believe that there are local players available that can help this team improve and I'm cautiosly optimistic that Brad will get enough of them to keep the ball rolling forward. Although we improved, we failed in the main objective and I would give Brad a C for this year's effort. Enough to pass.
  4. Larry, I wouldn't be too quick to jump on the Big 10 "top to bottom". Penn State and Northwestern stunk it up pretty good this year. One big difference is the self perpetuating nature of RPI. The Big 10's lousy teams don't take RPI hits when they get their butts beat in conference and the strong teams are correspondingly not taking hits by playing poorly against the weaker teams. IMO, GW, Umass and Xavier would be quite competitive playing in the Big 10. You do recall X beating Illinois earlier in the year? The Illini have guard trouble and are the gang that couldn't shoot straight from the line.
  5. It's disappointing to be left out of the NIT, to be sure. The whole selection process is discouraging. There simply is no margin for error if you aren't in a power conference. I loved Bilas' rationale that the second division teams that were selected were more deserving because they have more talent. What is the point of playing the games in the first place? Stanford over Air Force is mind boggling after a convincing head to head defeat on Stanford's floor. It's a farce to pretend that the tournament is anything more than a validation process for the power conferences to maintain their alledged superiority. If it's all about who has the prettiest team on paper, we can set the tournament in October and be done with it. It's going to be VERY difficult to move up the ladder.
  6. It's hard to press effectively for sustained periods. Most teams aren't capable or comfortable trying to do it. In the end coaches opt to stay with what they do well.
  7. "I think nothing would make him happier than winning the next >two games. He would be mor than happy to eat a little crow. > Am I right Drew? " Guess not.
  8. I still think Brown has a big game in him.
  9. You guys are a bunch, I swear. Why not just fess up and say that you will be unhappy with Soderberg, regardless of whatever success is acheived. You not only want the team to succeed, you want it to happen according to your persoal scenario. With the possible exception of the very small Great Midwest, every conference we have been in has had weak sisters. As it happens, this team has performed reasonably well against the top of the conference. The fact that you folks refuse to acknowledge progress is truly indicative that you have suspended rational thought. The question is, "Did we improve?" Clearly the answer is yes. Of what possible relevancy is it that, "gee, 20 wins just aint what it used to be."? The constant negetivity is wearing.
  10. Beautiful. Just beautiful. It was about survival. They survived. Go again tomorrow!
  11. I seriously hate this ######. Much too close.
  12. Have you ever had an unexpessed thought?
  13. Their announcer just opined that we can be had.
  14. How about that movie trailer? "Sometimes you have to kick some asphalt."
  15. Reversal! Dayton up by 8 with 8 minutes left.
  16. I agree as well. As an alum, I'm annoyed that the Ad's office and the SID allow negetive reporting, particularly from that blowhard BM, to go by without response. I find myself defending the program to those that would like to see SLU succeed but have no direct allegiance to the University. Of course, this is a duty I impose on myself, but what the Hell does the SID spend his doing? I sincerely do not believe things are as bleak as they are often portrayed to be, but you would never know that from the resounding quiet on West Pine.
  17. I could. On the other hand, you could stop posting your opinion that Brad is a bad coach, day after day after day and attempting to bolster that position subjective claptrap as though it's fact. BTW, the 22,000 seat arena doesn't help recruiting, there are plenty of D1 schools within 200 miles and who cares if Fordham has an old gym? We are not competing for recruits with those programs.
