  1. -what about the bclub meeting he attended? -what about the bclub meeting in 2 weeks he is scheduled to attend? -waht about his radio show last season/ -what about his weekly appearance on Frank's show last season? -what about the gathering in the Busch center last season? -what about him going to see hillary? -what about recruiting? -just because his efforts in your eyes are not enough, don't disregard the efforts he has undertaken -do i like everything, not really, but at this point i still trust rick and the plan he has to get us where we need to be
  2. -getting the bldg full to me is an obvious goal -slu used to have grade school games before their games at the arena --i guess pregame things are different now, but maybe on some of the nights you give local catholic schools the chance to play each other afer the slu game -you get a team from ballwin to play a team from collinsville, give them 14 tickets a piece (players and 2 coaches) and hope 28 moms and dads buy 56 tickets to see little johnny on the Chaifetz floor -maybe this exposes these kids to slu, they like the experience, maybe attend slu, maybe the next larry comes from this -also, slu used to have a grade school tourney at west pine, that was cool also, wonder if they could do that in Chaifetz at some point? i think that was 8th grade and over Christmas -just ways to build exposure to the U and the program and maybe increase the fan base (but be careful what you wish for, i sort of came from this avenue) -if rick could say hello to them for 90 seconds, who knows -and if the dance team would......
  3. -as i said, not political.... -went to the GOP debate watch party and here are my observations on the arena so many days after the globetrotters.... -i would guess it was 70% full, but tough to gauge with all the people on the floor, so may have been more than that -no beer served -concession stands were open, took a LONG time for the lines to move (will be tough to get 2 beers runs accomplished at halftime at this rate) -heard several people question the limited food offerings (i almost asked if they thought they were at applebees, but restrained) -heard MANY people say things like - wow, this is really nice re. the bldg -heard several people rave about the video boards -there was some great scenery on hand -no beer served -sound problems, again, multiple times, i don't know if this was a function of the sound system or who was running it, but this will have to be fixed come Nov -on the floor after the gov's speech it was hot, i guess with all the lights and the people, but it was hot (and so is she, btw) -getting into the compton garage was not a problem, i came from grand to lindell to compton -getting out of the compton garage was tough - 50 minutes from the second from the top level - but they did have compton closed for most of that time -can i ask for some feedback?? - is this reasonable- if you are going to park in the garage for bball games, and are going to back in to your spot - you should only attempt this if the task can be accomplished on average over the course of the season in 1.5 tries, but i would hope we can all agree SIX tries is way too many - and if that was you mr 6 timer, yes it was my group in the car behind you with our hands out the window clapping on your success-after 6 tries -hopefully the exiting of the garage can be accomplished quickly when all the roads are open -in the garage there were all kinds of people directing traffic -my hopes for a garage across the street someday seem dashed as harris stowe is buliding a new education bldg, but there is still their baseball field....
  4. i would have to think this messes with the plans at 101.1
  5. -i don't know what the general fund is, but $1bil a year seems high -if you mean endowment fund the last ranking i saw was about $950mil, so close. -hopefully the end fund has not lost much value this year -where does the U spend endowment money, Chaifetz and Doisy both built without endowment funds that FrB mentioned proudly?? -i am not opposed to spending some end fund money on athletic program
  6. where is this money going to come from, esp in today's economy? rick needs to win is the easiest answer i have
  7. someone help me - i am trying to get to the $7.7mil budget figure and i am $2.0mil short what categories am i missing? what # or $ in the categories listed are out of whack? these numbers are all guesses did slu get a cut of concessions at scottrade? category # $ mbball season tix 6,500 300 1,950,000 all sports passes 500 125 62,500 2,012,500 other sports tix 2,000 125 250,000 2,262,500 mbball walkup (2000*17) 34,000 8 272,000 2,534,500 bclub donations 1 1,000,000 1,000,000 3,534,500 ncaa conf share 1 250,000 250,000 3,784,500 corporate sponsors 20 50,000 1,000,000 4,784,500 a10 share of revenue 1 300,000 300,000 5,084,500 tv radio profit 1 100,000 100,000 5,184,500 merchandise license 1 25,000 25,000 5,209,500
  8. roland gray - that is probably it and that is a long, long. long time ago (3 buildings ago!!!) larry's outside shot may keep him from being added, but he is probably close love and jeffers did not have the height
  9. 6"6' catch and shoot with bounce? have we ever had this? i quite frankly do not care if i hear about recruits, just that we get quality players to fill out the roster.
  10. love the theory, how it would work in practice i am not sure from rick's perspective does he want to play IU and ND? in future years i would guess so not sure at other schools the relationship between revenue and non-revenue sports does slu have a soccer scheduling problem?
  11. -when we were on KMOX for a few years Ramsay did the games and still worked for KFNS, who knows what would happen now, but remember, according to the article they are not going all sports until Jan 1, so would you have slu games for 6 weeks on a music station? how would that help? how would that be promoted? although maybe good for the long haul, what the heck, give it try -PLEASE NO BRIAN BURWELL ON THIS STATION!!!!!
  12. Clock - Harrelson went to St Charles High - Kramer went to St Charles West -St Charles did get to the final 4, but i believe that was after Harrelson signed with WILL -but no doubt a big miss
  13. woops - my sometimers seems to be going to mostofthetimers
  14. -so what does the "yes" mean - that you agree that you need to cite things other than dunks when talking about athletic ability? -if i had seen him play wouldn't i have seen his athletic dunking ability on display as well but you still mention it? why not the other athletic traits? just dunks -takes me steps, i just said v, not longer versions -hoping you will take a couple of steps with me and say at what level of D1 a kid can play/make an impact or what level of D1 is recruiting him as opposed to the blanket D1 statement and that you mention other athletic traits than dunking -we get to that point and i bet we are square -but i understand if you choose not to go there
  15. v you also hurt yourself in my book when every example of an athletic player includes reference to a dunk there are many other aspects of athletic bball players than dunking, imo
  16. Chosen - i agree with this part - i thought getting TL and KL was the program turning the corner - but the necessary pieces for a successful program were never put on the roster and it is a damn shame
  17. deep fried twinkies would be a nice addition to the standard concession offerings....wow, those are good with deep fried twinkies and the free hot dogs they would need defibrillators every other section
  18. it does no good if a kid is talented or super talented but can't qualify to get into school
  19. Taj, I was listening to Ramsay some months ago and he came up with a definition of a local player as being someone that gets their tv from a STL station. I think that makes sense, or as much sense as any other definition of what is considered local. I think a caller from Pickneyville got on and said they don't get STL stations - was kind of a hodgepodge, Cape, Carbondale, Paducah.
  20. and having tourney success, not just getting there
