  1. You may appreciate it and you may benefit but the Bills are not winning these games for UAB.
  2. The loss at Mizzou on Sunday could not have been beneficial to his health.
  3. You make some great points about McKinney in particular and transfers in general. At Villanova, Bryant and the coach decided it was in the best interest of both parties that Reggie transfer. I don't know if that is the case with McKinney but if it is, it would certainly be in the interest of all parties for him to transfer. I am not sure if the best fit would be SLU. I can see a duplicate role to Liddell and we would have Liddell for four years even if he has to go to prep school the first year. McKinney would only have two years eligibility. I understand Liddell is willing to work with SLU in any way he can to acheive eligibility since he is committed attend SLU nowtwithstanding his eligibility situation.
  4. Some more thoughts about Spoon. He did seem to lose interest in his last year but my experience in one on one situations was different from what some others seem to have experienced. Personally, he came across as a very unassuming and down to earth person. He did have the humor to be a stand up comic at times and could also massage the press. Brad has a similarity in that he can be unassuming and is a very decent person. He has a great sense of humor but in a different sense. However, he can also be very intense.
  5. In addidtion to the reasons given by Tseugnekillib, the other T.V. outlets, in the area, gave the Bills the same shaft that KMOX does such as preempting their games. Charter has some limitations but overall, it is a better partner. My big complaint in the electronic media coverage is KMOX. I feel there has to be a better radio partner for the Bills games.
  6. I agree 100% with the comments about the officiating. I agree with the other comments as well but I do not feel as strongly about those as I do about the referees. The CUSA officials will not be missed when we change conferences.
  7. I noticed this follow-up posting and and I am sure the University development office would want to take care of this situation. I know you talked to Doug Woolard but there is another person with whom you could also discuss your willingness to become involved. He is Don Whelan and is Vice President of Development for the University and is the point person on this project as well as all other fund raising activities for the Universtity. His e-mail address is and his direct phone number is (314) 977-2472. I suggest you contact him and he will certainly respond and work with you in any way you are willing to assist.
  8. Section 101 is not that bad. They are better than what we got when we went to Memphis and probably better than what we would get from U of L.
  9. He had an MRI and there was no problem. They thought he might have had a stress fracture because of the persistent pain but the MRI was negative and he was at practice yesterday. Also, you can expect to see Clarke and Johnson in the rotation on a more regular basis according to Coach Beane.
  10. Excellent points and a great post.
  11. Why should SIU get much attention in the St. Louis press? I don't know the number of alumni they have in this area but I doubt if it is more than SMS or SEMO for example. I wonder how much coverage the Bills get in the Carbondale paper.
  12. One more interesting comment concerned turnovers. A caller referenced a statement by Martz relating to fumbles. According to the caller, Martz did not dwell on turnovers by players in subsequent practices because players tend to become to conscious of them and they become sort of self-fulfilling. Grimm was dismissive about the comment but Soderberg gave it more credence and suggested he might have to give that line of thinking more attention.
  13. I heard the show and a couple of more comments were mentioning were that Brad keeps in touch with Romar on a regular basis and that Washington has won there last five games and are now 5 and 5 in the conference with a win over Washington St. I got the impression that he and Lorenzo had a very good relationship. Regarding Ahearn, he was extremely tactful in what he said but my sense of what he said was that in the long term, he is not going to regret not offering that scholarship to Ahearn. Again, this is my intrepretation but he felt that Ahearn is an one dimensional player. Concerning Liddell, he did not sound encouraged about his qualification status. Finally, on the scholarship situation, he repeated what he has been saying consistently except for the revelation that he has an offer outstanding.
  14. 1978 was the first final four that had the Saturday / Monday schedule. My understanding is, that schedule was the first of what is considered to have changed the status and excitement of the final four.
  15. You are showing a youth in your comment. The 1978 was the first of what is considered the modern final four.
  16. I am surprised that it is not 11 or 12 points. If I was a betting man, that would be a good bet.
  17. Soderberg said that he offered an assistant's position to Bonner but AB turned it down to play a few more years.
  18. There is a major irony about this discussion. It was precipitated by the student behavior at Md. However, at SLU we have a different fan base who are more reserved for lack of a better description. The common thread is Debbie Yow. It was the season ticket policy she put together at SLU that resulted in large blocks of premium seats going to major and corporate contributors who do not go to the games. From my seats, it is frustrating to see the number of premium seats across from the team benches that are not used. That is a problem that needs to be addressed at the new arena.
  19. That is an interesting remark about McGuire's practice of substitutions related to the foul situation. He was the first coach that I noticed who sat a player with two fouls in the first half. Before then, coaches normally did not sit players until they had three fouls. Regarding a hard and fast rule, it would seem to me the situation, position and player dictates the practice. For somebody like Frericks, it would seem you better sit him. For an outside player who does not become in the inside mix, he could play with two fouls in the first half.
  20. A couple of more thoughts regarding JJ. Regarding practice habits and learning the system, he did not have a full year of practice last year. For a large part of the year, he had a fractured wrist or was in the process of recovering from the fracture so he did not take part in the practices, learn the system and learn to understand the importance of developing intense practice habits. Starting this year, I am not sure he fully embraced the coaches committment to practice and the importance of practice. As with everything most people do, those are learned habits and if you did not have them before, it takes a while to learn, understand and embrace them for yourself.
  21. This entire discussion was precipitated by a posting on the tiger bulletin board.
  22. If Duke ended with a 52 rpi they would probably get a # 2 seed only.
  23. You may some interesting observations why schools are able to recruit some players who might normally be recruited by higher profile programs. The player and school that come to mind immediately are Dwayne Wade and Marquette. Wade was a partial qualifier but Crean took a chance and it paid off. Some times it does not but when it does many mistakes are overlooked.
