  1. Maybe not just a coincidence? http://law.slu.edu/people/robert-gatter
  2. Is anyone savvy enough with a graphics program to take the Arch out of the Watson graphic and replace it with a picture of a Columbia, MO, Wal-Mart strip mall?
  3. Inolla, I was in Puerto Rico (where my fiancée is from) a couple weeks ago and attended one of Quebradillas' semifinal games against Guayama, who features Renaldo Balkman. It was a great atmosphere in Quebradillas and Lisch played very well...his defense was noticeably better than anyone else's on the floor and he hit some big shots. I wanted to say hello to him after the game, but players quickly left the floor after some post-game brawling.
  4. Lisch's team in Puerto Rico actually plays Ruben Cotto's team tomorrow (Sunday).
  5. Searching around the internets about Lisch's Australian conquests, I found this article. Isn't that Cody's dad pictured presenting Kevin with the Gordon Ellis Award? http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/2022-world-cup-bid/kevin-lisch-tops-great-season-by-claimimg-perth-wildcats-mvp/story-e6frg25u-1226347755912
  6. It appears Kevin O'Neill is available. Would he be a viable fit for our available position?? http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/8843050/kevin-oneill-usc-trojans-coach
  7. Just for fun, here are some potential future OOC opponents for home game games giving a STL player a homecoming: Notre Dame - Cameron Biedschied Kansas - Ben McLemore Illinois - Malcolm Hill Kansas State - DJ Johnson Arkansas - BJ Young Less attractively (sorry ABomb)... Auburn - Jordon Granger Any more?
  8. I just saw that Mike McCall's Foreman HS team is playing in this year's Normandy Christmas Tournament. Their first game is Tuesday afternoon. It would be cool if coach takes them to see one of their recent alums in action on Tuesday night at the Chaif.
  9. I actually thought Paul got the start last night because it was "Washington, MO, Night" but I could be wrong. I think I saw it posted on the jumbotron before the game.
  10. Will we be allowed in the student section with a ticket from another section? I have season tickets on the other side of the Chaif, but wouldn't mind standing in there tomorrow night...I'd rather spend the $10 on cold bevvies when I already have a ticket.
  11. The fans of Taylor University, a NAIA school in Indiana, have a very unique tradition with their annual "Silent Night" game. This video is pretty awesome...wish SLU had a student tradition like this.
  12. They performed at halftime during one of last year's games. It's a "dance crew" with a mix of males/females...kind of a mix of break dancing and choreography.
  13. I'm honored SShoe...I'm sure you'd be surprised to learn there was never a trademark in place, so the name is fair game.
  14. There were some plans to build this type of theatre in a new district in St. Charles where the Noah's Ark Hotel used to sit, but I'm not sure about the current status of that development.
  15. What about adding to the big head cutout collection for the next home game with an imposing picture of actor Rob Lowe?
  16. From the athletic department's twitter feed, Cards GM John Mozeliak, Dr. Chaifetz, and former Rams coach Jim Haslett were amongst those 9,453. I'm also certain I saw Jack Clark in the stands while watching the tv broadcast. It would be nice to start getting some buzz in the community as a hot ticket.
  17. Here are some bullet points...this is what stood out to me after listening several hours ago. - Never been on that long of a road trip, said they practiced at St. Joseph's who were gracious hosts offering their video room, training facilities, etc. He said they landed with fire trucks and ambulances waiting on the tarmac as their plane had problems with the landing gear, or a tire or something. - Said they had one academic advisor with the team on the trip, but it's not the same as going to class since the tutor would have to have about 12 different degrees to have the knowledge encompassing the variety of all the classes the players are taking. - When asked about the A10, raved about the conference itself, said the reason he keeps talking about it is because that's all that people ask him about and that he's just answering questions. Said he really loves these players, more than he loves the conference, and because of that wants them to get the best education possible...with the current setup, he feels they aren't getting the education they deserve. - Said Dayton is really tough with a lot of experience. Asked people to come out tomorrow afternoon and support the team.
  18. I was at the game in Chicago and from what I can remember, Jeff had Ben Hansborough trapped in the corner and Ben threw a high elbow to try and make room. The elbow hit Jeff in the face and then he was actually called for a foul. I believe he left the game after the play, but didn't go down...walked off the court on his own and didn't return.
  19. Here's some game analysis from the Charleston Times-Courier...Coach Miller's comments aren't exactly earth shattering: "You see what they’re trying to do and they are really trying to do it." "They are going to defend us and make us defend them as well." Don't ignore youngest team in the nation EASTERN ILLINOIS (7-4) AT SAINT LOUIS (8-4) Tip-off: about 8 p.m. today following 5:30 p.m. Bradley-Saint Louis women’s game at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis Radio: WEIU Hit Mix 88.9 FM By BRIAN NIELSEN, Sports Editor [email protected] Saint Louis' sports information department research shows its men’s basketball team is the youngest in NCAA Division I. With its only upperclassman junior Paul Eckerle out with a preseason knee injury leaving the Billikens with four juniors, a redshirt freshman and six freshman, who can argue? Still, Eastern Illinois coach Mike Miller says these Baby Bills under former NCAA runner-up Utah coach Rick Majerus can provide lessons for the Panthers heading into today’s 8 p.m. non-conference game at Saint Louis. “One of the things we talk about is to play to an identity,” Miller said. “They play to an identity as well as anyone we see. They’re tough. They’re disciplined. They keep themselves in a good position. They take care of the basketball. They execute well. You see what they’re trying to do and they are really trying to do it. I think it can help us a great deal playing them.” Eastern can add to its good start that at 7-4 marks just the sixth time the Panthers have had that good of a record in its NCAA Division I history that began in 1981. The Panthers can tune up for the rest of the Ohio Valley Conference season that resumes with a Saturday home game against Jacksonville State. Plus, after beating NCAA tourney regular Belmont with a 63-60 revenge win on Dec. 19, the Panthers can put an even bigger feather in their hat playing this Atlantic-10 Conference team. Even with hardly any guys old enough to vote, Saint Louis still is 8-4 limiting opponents to 58.5 points per game and .385 field-goal shooting with a physical defense. “I’m not sure we’ve played anybody like their team,” Miller said. “It’s going to make us figure some things out. They are going to defend us and make us defend them as well.” The Billikens also have a win over Belmont, 75-67 on Dec. 16. Three of their losses came in succession – 65-54 at Iowa State, 64-52 at Notre Dame and 64-56 at Georgia. They are 8-1 at their Chafetz Arena that opened a year ago, losing only to Missouri State 73-63 on Dec. 19 before bouncing back to beat UMK C 61-54. Willie Reed, a 6-foot-9 sophomore, averages 10.0 rebounds per game along with 13.8 points while 5-10 sophomore guard Kwmain Mitchell leads Saint Louis’ scoring at 16.0 points per game. Eastern counters with three seniors in its starting lineup while another of its six seniors, All-Ohio Valley guard Romain Martin, played his first game of the season last week against Franklin College after preseason knee surgery. “He’s continuing to progress,” Miller said. “We’re trying not to overdo it but he’s getting more and more practices as we go. Hopefully, each day it’s getting. He’s doing two things. He’s doing the rehab on his knee but he’s also getting his body ready to play again.” Contact Brian Nielsen at [email protected] or 238-6856.
  20. I really enjoyed listening to this segment. They raise some extremely valid points about SLU failing to capitalize on some very valuable commondities with regard to their current team and publicity opportunities. I also appreciate the manner in which they do so, by saying "I went down to a game and really enjoyed my experience" as opposed to just complaining. They seem to be ready and willing to give the team some nice coverage. Also, with regard to the billboards...the Billiken Roar signs are pretty prevelant around town in my opinion. I actually think they've done a pretty nice job with placement. Also, on my Thanksgiving trip to Chicago, I noticed a "Be A Billiken" billboard along I-55 on the way into downtown...nice job there too.
  21. Bad news for Vedad...out for season with torn knee ligaments. He was having a breakout season, leading the German Bundesliga (Germany's Top Division) in scoring. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id...ope&cc=5901
  22. There a great video feature available on slubillikens.com with a recap of the event and video from Bridget's career at SLU. Check it out.
