  1. I'm really enjoying Earl Austin Jr's daily blog. It has become must-reading for me every day. Not only does he report on our Bills, but he gives updates on all of the local basketball action from high school to college. he's giving updates of area kids who are away at college who I have totally forgotten about. If you haven't seen it, it's worth your time to check it out. Last night was rough. Hope we can get it going again back home. bad boyz for life
  2. IMO, I don't Reid's contributions were overstated. Plain and simple. If he doesn't play with the kind of energy that we saw from him on Saturday, this board would be lamenting a painful loss against a NAIA team that finished sixth in its conference last year.
  3. I was reading the St. Louis American today and noticed at the end of Earl Austin's column that he has a new basketball blog called stlouisbasketball.com. I took a look at it and he has a mixture of high school, college and NBA stuff on it. He has a write up of the Bills first preseason game, and a little something on Larry the Legend. He's even got something on Brad's debut last night against McKendree and some recruiting news. Looks like something that I will try to follow on a daily basis. Might be worth checking out.
  4. I think people forget that brian gregory pulled his name out of consideration for the slu job.
  5. Kwamain Mitchell and Willie Reed are playing in the championship game of the River City Pro Am summer league. They are playing against a team with Darius Miles,Tommie Liddell, Barry Eberhardt and Maurice Baker. It's at Cardinal Ritter. I heard on the radio that the game begins at 8 p.m.
  6. we don't have any small forwards. we have a bunch of 1s, 2s and our inside guys. clyburn is a perfect "3" man for this nucleus of players. IMO
  7. Actually, I heard that the Bills were headed to Athens this upcoming season with the Dawgs returing the date the following year. I could be wrong on this, but that is what I heard.
  8. Word on the street is that we're headed to Georgia next year to start a home and home with the Dawgs.
  9. I believe you can add SEMO to the schedule.
  10. Bradley Beal of Chaminade could be at the game tonight. bad boyz for life
  11. Romar made his share of recruiting mistakes here, but I know for a fact that Jamal Tatum was coming to SLU until he left for U-Dub. He was very upset when he found out he was leaving. Taj Gray was also going to come to SLU and sit out a year. Romar had also fostered a great relationship with the Grimes family, so it was a solid bet that Grimes was coming aboard as well. bad boyz for life
  12. The rivalry has been a home-court dominated series because of the way the games are called. In C-Dale, the Salukis and rough and tumble the Bills without worrying about too many whistles. Back in St. Lou, it's been hard to stop Tommie, Kevin, Marquee when you cannot clutch and grab them for 40 minutes. Fouls are actually called. That's why the home team wins most of the time. I suspect the Billikens will win next year at Chaifetz. bad boyz for life
  13. Oscar Robertson played at Crispus Attucks High in Indianapolis. They won the state championship in 1955. It was a great documentary to watch.
  14. Kansas is also in hot pursuit as well bad boyz for life
  15. mitchell, reed, conklin, cassity, john, thompson and lisch were all on campus this summer, working out and taking classes from the beginning of july to last weekend. when some of them went back home until the start of school (reed and kwamain I believe). ruben wasn't there. the strength and conditioning coach really put them to work I believe he still has to go through the clearinghouse to become official... he got the score and passed a class he needed at alton this summer. paul eckerle had a herniated (sp) disc, so his workouts have been curtailed this summer. TL III had ankle surgery, but he seems to have recovered fine. His team won the bonner league title last week. Barry looks like he has dropped some weight and replaced it with muscle. He looks really good. We'll see if it translate into some increased production as a senior. bad boyz for life
  16. Tommie Liddell, Barry Eberhardt, Danny Brown and Justin Johnson are playing tonight at Cardinal Ritter in the championship game of the River City Pro Am League. They play for a team called Take Over. The game is a 7 p.m. If you want to see a couple of current Billikens and former Billikens in action. Darius Miles is also on the team, but I heard that he wasn't going to be there tonight because he will be out of town. Just thought I would pass that along. bad boyz for life
  17. "It's true. Kirk had much better handles than Jones did as a high school player. He played mostly point guard early in his career at FZW and he handled the ball quite a bit on a very good Eagles team during the summer at the 15s and 16s. It seems like he lost a lot of his game as he got bigger and older. He could never shoot. He was strictly an athletic slasher. bad boyz for life
  18. the story goes that mark dressler wanted to go to slu back in the door, but his father wouldn't let him go play for ron coleman. bad boyz for life
  19. True, but I also remember an Oklahoma State team that started transfers from such schools as baylor (which was at the bottom of the big 12), an average brigham young team and central florida of all places. They wound up going to the Final Four. not saying slu is ready to go to the final four, but it shows, look at the player. not the program. bad boyz for life
  20. I wouldn't sleep on Manhattan players who might want to leave. Xavier had a pretty good transfer from Manhattan named C.J. Anderson. bad boyz from life
  21. Whatever happened to Alex Jensen's brother in Utah. What's the story with him? bad boyz for life
  22. Cotto may not be the quickest guard by the naked eye, but when he wants to get to the basket, he does it any time he wants. What also helps is that he has such great shooting range that you have to play up on him a little more, which allows more room for the drive. bad boyz for life
  23. It's even worse when you are a juco and you make a bad decision on which school you attend. You only have one year left. I hope his uncle is happy with his nephew going to the "big-time" name program instead of one where he would have played all the time. I hope he enjoys the GLVC scene next year. bad boyz for life
