  1. What is your deal? I know you personally and I used to think you were a decent Billiken fan. Now you're just spitting out endless nonsense, about things you obviously don't understand. Relax, wait until next year and we'll see if things begin to look better with L and L.
  2. Everybody likes to talk about the future with Polk, KL, TL, but after today and watching Danny block that shot of Novak's and play well on the offensive end, I might suggest (and don't get me wrong I love Polk) if Polk doesn't start shooting from the outside (which he probably will) you might see a starting rotation eventually of DB, TL, KL with either KL or TL running the point. Danny Brown has looked extremely promising this year and I just wouldn't be surprised if he became a starter. I'm just throwing this out there as another possibility. Willie suggested earlier today that Brown will be a starter next year. I might like that idea with TL coming off the bench because he can play so many different positions. DB will be the man though.
  3. Just because Polk isn't shooting the ball doesn't mean we're playing 4 on 5. You just need to look past shooting and look at does the team play better when Polk is running the point or when Drejaj runs the point. Seems pretty obvious to me when we're up 14 in the second half, Polk gets yanked for a push off foul, we begin to turn the ball over, get bad shots, and lose the lead in a matter of a few minutes. The lineup that was doing the best was the DP,RB,VN,IO,IV. To go away from that lineup during a 9-0 run to start the second half is a mistake and could've cost us the game. Polk just doesn't need to score to be effective. His job is to get us into our offense quicker. Drejaj doesn't do that.
  4. Every time Drejaj enters the game, our offense slows down to a halt, and we press for good shots. He starts the offense about ten feet off the three point line and ten seconds into the shot clock, whereas Polk tends to get the offense moving right away. From a pure standpoint of getting the team moving and running Brad's motion, Polk is by far the player who should be in the game.
  5. ...when coaches break up a run with substitutions. UB did that today when he subbed Drejaj for Polk five minutes into the second half and we were up 14 points. From there Southern Miss went into their 10-0 run and were right back into the game. We could've blown them out right then. Plus, I just hate seeing Drejaj playing more minutes than Polk.
  6. last night TNT ran a nice story on Larry and the story with him and Justin Hughes. Nothing new, but it was kind of cool to see the story on national coverage and see old highlights of Larry in Billiken Blue. It was also nice to see Larry and the other Wizards start getting national press for their nice start. Next Thursday, the Wizards game will be on TNT.
  7. I'll tell you what...some may disagree with me, but I would really like to see us start and play DC, DB, or LM a lot more than AD. When Polk is not in the game, fine AD is the backup, but it seems like it's already to time to look to the future and I know some support AD, but when he's running the point or even in the game, we become a helluva lot slower team. Our offense grows stagnant and ball movement sucks. He can score here and there, but I'd like to see his minutes drop significantly and start playing the other guys more. And maybe the same with Tom.
  8. Why are we still talking about Ahearn? Why don't we talk about something more immediate. Like right when we went on our 8-0 run in the second half and Brad questionably ended that run by taking out three of those players who were playing well together. Or Brad's using Drejaj too much and not enough Darren Clarke. Ahearn does not concern this team, and I get really tired of people suggesting a recruit we didn't take would be the answer. You can't always take everybody from the area nor can you always predict who will be good college players. Leave it alone.
  9. I think we will get better. Usually Brad's squads start slow, we have a number of freshman who will have growing pains, and hopefully REggie will get healthy. Brown sounded good so that is encouraging.
  10. Billiken Bobby, you do what ever you want to do. Just as long as you can snag one of those shirts for SShoe.
  11. In a nice sit down, Brad made an interesting comment on Polk. He remarked that as a coach, he is not used to a player like Polk who doesn't need to grind it out all the time. He then suggested he would be failing as a coach if he didn't adjust his style to better suit Polk's style. I think that is an impressive trait in a coach. It seems to me that many coaches (especially in college football) are "it's my way or the highway" despite the personnel.
  12. SShoe was held back by Willie once SShoe got warmed up...or so I say.
  13. I've already told K-Shoe and Willy this, but according to espn.com and Peter Gammons the Cards are interested in trading Brad Thompson for LF Frank Cattalanato of the Blue Jays. Cattalanato hits .327 but I am not sold on this trade at all. Better players will come along and I don't want to sell the farm for a slightly better than average player. Go Cards SShoe
  14. this is willey not sshoe. I like the NBA just not an exibition game. If the NBA came to St. Louis I would buy season tickets with a very large group of people. I prefer the college game but a good pro game is very entertaining.. Watching Duncan playing against the Lakers is hard to beat. I have not been to the Skyhawks but want to go. People who say that they don't play defense in the NBA are crazy. The current problem with the NBA is the defense is too good and the offenses haven't kept place. But no exibition games. The only good exibition games are ones the Billikens are playing in.
  15. finals are this coming week...and then party time!
  16. OKState won by two in a game that could've gone either way. Packer should not be saying I told you so when the two other 1 seeds lost in the 2nd round and St. Joe beat a very good Wake team and Bobby Knight. no respect given to St. Joe's, who could've just as easily have won tonite.
  17. In talking about Reggie, seems to me that most all transfers do a whole helluva lot better their senior years than their junior years. Justin Love, MO Jeffers, Kenny Brown, etc. Look for reggie to have an even better season next year, along with Frericks. I truly like think we'll be again a better team next year. Let's get Liddel that ACT score, a bull at power forward, and look towards the bright future.
  18. I have a renewed hatred for Cincinnati fans after this weekend. A lot of jerks in the crowd and K-Shoe and myself were fairly close to actually stepping in the ring with a few of them. Supposingly, some Cinci fans stole and tore up a Blue Crew sign while 60 year old woman saying we deserve the ridicule while we're down by 20. Isn't that deserving enough. After the game a few fans came up to us and apologized for the behavior of the other fans. There were some fans who were nice, but there were just as many of those who weren't. Watching them mess with Steve also pissed me off. Fans were just about as classy as their coach.
  19. Ian had 9 points, but even bigger, he had 5 boards. Izik had 14 points, I think eight of them were in that last 10 minutes of the game. When we can get inside scoring we become a team that can play with just about anybody. Big if, though. Great game. Fun to watch. Drejaj also had a strong second half, not only hitting big threes, but really dished the ball well after strong penetration. Reggie was Reggie and Fish was Fish. Really exciting win and I'll see you all in Cinci. SShoe
