  1. Tommie is a great rebounding guard. The 4-guard offense doesn't work at all without him. In fact, if he gets subbed out, JJ or VN need to be in the game for him.
  2. i think the press is a bad idea against us. Polk handles the press very well (in fact I'd say that's his best attribute). and we have enough quickness amongst our guards to be able to get to the basket and make teams pay for pressing us. I think our offensive troubles come from when we're slowed down and teams pack it in on us offering the 3-pointer.
  3. good post, that was my assumption. and you're right I'm not sure in a game like this playing JJ or VN does much good.
  4. sorry, Nark you're invited too.
  5. because i didn't watch the game, I can't give a good answer. My assumption would be that Kennesaw was small and the 4-guard lineup was a better match up for Brad. 25 three point attempts is a lot.
  6. definately, except i might not have many problems left. I'm going to both Xavier and Dayton games in Cinci, any interest?
  7. i didn't watch, but you gotta assume Brad was feeling a little tight around the collar during this game so he kept his best lineup out there with KL knocking down threes, TL playing obviously well, his love affair with AD, and Polk needs to play. Brad's an enigma.
  8. i'm in cinci, watcing the gametracker. 55 second half points, we're so night and day.
  9. First half was no scoring, second one was without sarcasm an offensive explosion.
  10. Danny has been terrible lately and he has been continuously sliding deeper and deeper into Brad's doghouse. His defense has not been as stellar as advertised and unless we're fast breaking, he serves little purpose on the offensive end. If this trend continues, don't be surprised to see a little more of Luke as the season goes on.
  11. from what I recall, he said he wanted a Juco 4-man who can immediately make an impact and a project big man.
  12. The offense isn't what I was upset about. Our defense is where we lost the game. So I go back to my original statement. Curtis (Miss' center) was a horse and he was able to feast on JJ. Their 4 man consistently went outside (even hit a 3 in Ian's face) So why didn't Brad put IV on Curtis? Seems to me Ian is better suited to guard Curtis than JJ, especially considering Ian's man was consistently going outside, causing Ian to vacate the lane where he is most effective on the defensive end.
  13. Excuses: We were tired after a long road trip and a number of games in a short time span and so our defense suffered. Also finals start tomorrow. Reasons: Brad made some poor coaching decisions. Putting JJ on their center and putting Ian on the 4 in order to keep Ian out of foul trouble was not a good strategy. JJ couldn't guard him causing us to need to double down and help. Their center continuously kicked out and their guards knocked down shots. Because Ian was on the 4, he was pulled out of the lane where he is most valuable, therefore our defensive rebounding became awful. Reasons: Our weakness at the 4 was exploited to death. Unfortunately JJ has to play because the 4-guard offense does not work against these big teams, but he is not in my mind a good defensive player. Hopefully we'll learn from this, but Brad's coaching decisions were not the best tonight.
  14. Hawaii is a significantly better home team than road team. We talked about the difficulties associated with playing in Hawaii. It's the same for them when they come to the mainland. They can beat Michigan state by 20+ points at home, but lose to UNLV (I think that's who they lost to) on the road.
  15. well, we broke our road trend on Saturday. Tomorrow we can break our every other game trend. 5-3 sounds quite good with a long home stand coming up.
  16. yeah I don't know, that seems stupid. Two player of the week's? whatever, congrats to Tommie.
  17. I agree with Roy. Lisch was the calming factor in the first half when we were struggling, being down 7-0 and he hit his early shots. The 2nd half started and we had similar problems. If a guy has a hot hand, i think you should try and ride it as long as possible. Unfortunatley, I'm not sure who should've sat to start the half considering liddell and drejaj were both playing well and we need polk running the offense.
  18. one of SLU's strengths this year is the ability of other players other than Ian or Tommie to step up and score. when drejaj has a tough night, Kevin steps up. When they both have rough nights, Danny or VN come off the bench and put up solid numbers. It's definately a strength. We always said, you can never have too many good guards.
  19. sounded like the bench was the key to this win with DB's and VN's strong play off the bench. Tommie also had a nice game. we've gotta shoot better from the line though. ramsey made it sound like we were getting screwed by the refs.
  20. corpus christi couldn't quite pull it out. mizzou wins by 1.
  21. and I'm not talking about the hockey team. 56-53: 12:00 left in 2nd half.
  22. >What about Travis? (and what the hell is a canckle) It's when you really don't have a nicely formed ankle, but rather your calf and ankle appear to be one.
  23. If he's anything like Novak, I'll be happy.
  24. If I recall, Drejaj's got some sweet cankles.
