  1. Shooting is also something the players can do in their own time. I'll always remember walking by West Pine at 10 pm on a Friday night and seeing Josh Fisher in the gym putting up shots. That's how you become a great shooter.
  2. It's unlikely that anything non-institutional would exceed 5 stories here.
  3. I think we CAN be the type of team that wins 5 of these, but simply from a "make the tourney" standpoint, I think 3 and 3 during this set and no trip-ups elsewhere in the non-conference should put us on track. Road games are difficult no matter what and we've essentially got 5 of them here.
  4. All road games are tough, but this is a biggie for us. I think we'll need a split of the big 6 non-conference games (@SH, @SIU, @Houston, @Pitt, Butler, and @FSU).
  5. He also would’ve graduated already if he hadn’t transferred.
  6. That's a final four level offense, so that seems about right.
  7. Like any policy changes, the devils will be in the details. After observing last year's debacle, I have come to believe some changes are necessary. Like, don't allow just 1 person to make the rulings. But given this administration, I fear we'll just get a pendulum swing that takes it too far in the other direction.
  8. Chicago has a FAR greater proportion of the state's population than coastal cities do of the country's population. For example, we in Missouri see the reverse of that.
  9. Nice. We had a good discussion going and then that.
  10. We are only talking about the presidency, right? didn't realize they had so much power that they could influence the entire senate, house of reps, all 50 governors, state legislatures, and local governments. Unless global warming causes sea levels to rise 1,000 feet, Southern Illinois ain't becoming San Francisco or Chicago. Not now, not ever.
  11. Except, as the last election has shown, one cannot only rely on urban areas on the coasts to win an election. You still need to pull in suburban voters, blue collar workers, etc. I also think it'd moderate the parties. Instead of Republican candidates spending all their time pandering to coal miners, farmers, and the religious sect, they'll soften their tones to appeal to more city residents. And vice versa. And two of those have been within the past 5 elections suggesting it's already tilted.
  12. And this goes beyond winning elections. Policy decisions often get made because politicians only become concerned about how that'll play in certain states.
  13. Oh yeah? You think George Hill represented the same for the Cleveland Cavs as Lebron James?
  14. Historically, I've disliked Mizzou mostly because their fans suck and they won't play us. Now, we get the added bonus of competing for the same recruits so it's picked up a notch. I'm in the camp that college basketball has a "regular-season" problem with not enough average fan interest in November and December and too many bad games. The sport needs more games like Mizzou/SLU to change that. And at this point, it's on Mizzou to make that happen.
  15. There really isn't much on here that's all that leftist. The man has made a name for himself by donating vast sums of money to political candidates and movements, and as indicated by wgstl, has donated to both parties. I can't speak for others, but my comment is more a statement about my own personal disdain for large political donors as a whole. People can spend their money as they choose, but donating to academic institutions in the pursuit of advancements in medical research is, in my mind, something else entirely and will be a benefit to the university and region.
  16. That's fantastic and will do way more good for the region than all of his insanely large political donations combined.
  17. I'm sure the guard spots 1-3 will be pretty interchangeable. It doesn't really matter on offense and I think Thatch, Wiley, and/or Goodwin could all defend an opposing team's 3. Most teams don't have small forwards that are much above 6'4".
  18. I'm sure Watson will be very good. Pinson seems to be more in the "solid contributor" camp. I'd rather have Gordon and Thatch.
  19. Put any one of our 4 current frontcourt players on the Ian, Lisch, Liddell, Meyer team that won 20 games and we may have been dancing that year. On the flip side, then Soderberg stays on as coach and Majerus never comes here (but neither does Crews). Eventually Soderberg still gets canned, SLU hires Cuonzo Martin and SLU fans are posting memes of Martin drinking coffee every time he lands a third-tier recruit.
  20. Didn't realize SIU was expected to be any good. That's great as long as we beat them. This has shaped up to be a really tough non-conference schedule.
  21. Yes, you're right. Early April and there ain't no hopefully.
  22. It's always great from about early October through hopefully late March.
  23. In order, my favorite topics are: conference affiliation, player initials, mizzou game, freshmen in the starting lineup, and Title IX investigations.
