  1. A number of successful coaches employ that stylle: Pitino, Leonard Hamilton, and Bill Self doesn’t press, but athletic players are lightening quick on offense.
  2. Williams, Jones, Strickland, Traore, Hargrove. I’d even put Fred in that group. These guys are are athletes who I feel would be more effective in a wide open game.
  3. Dayton’s defeat of Kansas this season is definitely more impressive after last night.
  4. True. Trouble was, Ford had Mike Anderson-style players-and Hargrove as well-on his bench who were athletes, who would be much better pressing and running. My point is: it doesn’t make sense to recruit players who can’t max their ability in your system. McKillup does a great job of finding players who are taylor-made to his system.
  5. I agree. Our coaches need to figure out how to handle VCU, Dayton, St. Bonaventure, and Davidson on a regular basis. Any players we recruit have to enhance our chances of owning these teams. They don’t need to fill this team with bench players who will leave at the end of the.season.
  6. Noah Carter, who averaged 15 ppg as a sophomore at Northern Iowa, has entered the portal.
  7. I gather that he is done at SLU. Another scholarship opens up.
  8. The MO for Ford is to play a max of 7 to 8 players a game. He is not alone, plenty of other coaches have the same MO. However, there are plenty of coaches, like Leonard Hamilton, who trust in their recruiting and play 10 or more in each game. They don’t have angst over injuries or foul trouble that the others do.
  9. Brazile from Mizzou has entered the transfer portal. He is a player. Would be a nice target for SLU.
  10. Pitino wants him to be the next coach at UMass, Pitino’s alma mater.
  11. Gates was a long-time assistant and lead recruiter at Florida State for Leonard Hamilton, who I feel is one of finest coaches in the country. This experience as a recruiter is sorely needed at Mizzou. Travis may have some stiff recruiting competition down the road.
  12. True. But you seldom see a team full of quality athletes-and they’re all quality athletes in the tournament-walk the ball up the court, work the clock down to 5 seconds-and take a difficult shot. I saw the Bills follow this path way too often.
  13. Majerus never paid attention to officials. He said is was fruitless, and he didn’t want to take his attention away from his team and the game plan. Ford, on the other hand, gets caught up in the officials from the tip-off to the final buzzer. His players respond respond accordingly.
  14. We need a Rob Loe-type big who can play the high post and be a zone-buster by hitting from top of the key.
  15. Kobe Brown and Brazile would be great additions to the Bills. Go for it Corey.
  16. Cuonzo is 3 and 4 in the NCAA’s. He took Tenn. to the sweet 16.
  17. Richmond is playing Davidson perfectly. Are the Bills watching?
  18. Spiders are moving the ball much better than we did.
  19. I’d like to see Travis follow the lead of Buzz Williams at A & M. He has a small team that he pushes “to not to be fast but to be faster than anyone would believe possible because we can’t play half court with bigger, stronger teams.”
  20. We are passing up open shots to drive into a turnover.
