  1. If someone went to any college for two years and transfered to SLU it some credits would apply some would not....One of the problems the NCAA has made ofr schools like SLU (unintentiaonally) is that is that they have to be able to transfer their credits into a specific major. So it does not matter how rigourous the classes were that someone took at another school they could have been killer courses, but if the player does not have enough credits to transfer into his major, he does not qualify. I think their is a way to solve this problem, but it takes creativity and a willingness to be daring on SLU's part. Hopefully though in a few years we will not have to worry about it, if we sign all freshman.
  2. "the right way" not sure what you mean, If you mean have a PE major that is as difficult as the other majors at SLU then I agree. It does not need to be a cakewalk to get kids like Brandon Morris to come to SLU. IF I am not mistaken he needed to be able to apply a certain number of his credits to his major. That does not mean he needs a cake walk major......
  3. No roy, I do not want a pass, but I do think there is a place for a serious PE major at SLU. As a society we need to preech from day one life long exercise, and PE majors are the ones who are best equiped to teach kids in school, not just the standard baseball basketball, kickball etc.... but teach kids about their bodies and the need to excercise. This takes some vision to see past the half asleep athlete in the back row getting a credit, but it can be done, for the health of all of us. We need to change the attitude that Physical education is playing a game. It can and has been, but it need not be and should not be. Physiology, psychology, communications skills, anatomy, biology physics are all class that should be in this kind of major if it were to be done right.
  4. SLU is too conservative on this front. With society today being soooooo Obese....... SLU ought to find a way to have a pe major and it could perform a significant public service to saint louis by hyping exercise....good nutrition etc..... Oh sure some might try to make it a cake walk, but like in anything else if it is done correctly there would be some serious benefit to SLU and our community.
  5. here is a guy poo pooed by some on this board, yet brad went out and offered early, and he is seriously is being recruited by Stanford (granted he may not get an official offer)but I think it supports Brad's ability to evaluate talent.
  6. The one piece of info in the article that was new to me is the timetable of mid October. I seem to recall the time table of before school starts before......do not know what that means.
  7. Marquette and Depaul would have some misgivings, it is not ideal. Though if It were the Bills being offered a chance to be in the same conference as BC, Georgetown, Pitt, Cinci, Louisville, 'Cuse, U Conn, don't you think we would jump at that chance.?? However if the Big east is going to keep their conference together at all costs, I do not think the Bills fit into that equation. However, I can think of other eastern schools that would fit........St. Joe's, even Xavier and dayton are better situated for travel purposes.
  8. If a sixteen team, half football half b ball conference is all that entices Depaul and Marquette, then The bills, niners and tigers ought to take the ball and jam it down the Big easts throats. Slu, Dayton, Xavier, Charlotte, Creighton, St. Josephs as a potential conference ought to entice Marquette and Depaul to stay home. Perhaps even keep memphis in it as long as they do not try to push football. 16 game conference schedule..... Yet I have the sense we are sitting and waiting to find out what tranghese wants to do.....Why??
  9. while I agree the east coast bias is alive and well and living east of the Post Road, Credible info regarding this came from East Carolina University acknowledging the BE asked for info about Cinci, Louisville, Marquette and Depaul, ONLY. As much aa I would like to deny this is bad news it is.
  10. how good is the guy who was headed to BC?? Perhaps St. Louis is a little closer to home?
  11. Can he enroll in the same JC and gain credits to enter at winter break or not. Two is there anyone who might be a good use of a scholarship like Dennard Abraham or not?
  12. Perhaps you are right, but I think if a program is out of control, kids have money they are blowing on drugs, and one of the players becomes psychotic....as I think Dennehy's killer became there, I cannot help but wonder could this have been prevented. Psychosis can be precipitated by certain illicit drugs, like cocaine, methampetamine, and others.....If a program is ignoring drug tests, ignoring money on the side, etc.....there is blame. The NCAA needs to look at itself and see what changes can be made to prevent this from happening.
  13. little harder on programs that look out of control, after the Baylor tradgedy. I would think they will be taking the hard line with the coaches who are playing with the lives of these kids...... The fact that the investigation has led back to the Idaho JC and Okafor, leads me to believe that this is more than about just Clemons. At this point I do not buy the extortion story....
  14. steve this is a web site that runs pools which a friend has participated in and sucked me into the last two years. It seems pretty professional.
  15. point shaving might make a great deal of sense......in this bizarre case. If it can make sense ot cents.
  16. College sports are looked down upon be the sports media. Why because they do not get the graft that they do from the pro sports.....more money, better food and bigger ego building material. If SLU beats Mizzou it is big news in missouri but not nationally......That is why I think people like Bernie follow College sports peripherally. as for Mizzou, I hope they are investigatin, but I am surprised that they had yet to talk with Bunge now two weeks later.
  17. Torch, I am interested in this as well, but let me make it clear I do not want Mizzou to get the death penalty, but if the MU BBall boys are not playing by the rules, I want them nailed. I hope Alden gets a grip on things and hurries up with their investigation, they need to self reprimand soon or the death penalty is an option. MU fans: while as a past time I find this interesting, I feel for the MU fans who are having their possible shining moment ie Final Four yanked out from under thier feet. I think this is not just Odom though and I hope the evidence makes that clear. Quin need more than a slap on the wrist for his part in all of this.
  18. I say it again, Mr Crane the prosecurtor has more evidence linking Odom to the cash....
