  1. Tom frericks out for the season? Reggie Bryant played hurt all test and his brother was shot. Both were all c-USA the year before. Get a clue buddy.
  2. Rick would take Drejaj and Diener in a second. They both played hard and could shoot. Those losses in early 04-05 were in the virgin islands and the seniors that year were plagued with funky injuries and personal problems. The year before we went to the second round of the NIT getting stuck playing notre dame in ft Wayne.
  3. Regardless of how you want to spin it, the adjustmsnt problems we have seen recently have less to do with WHAT is being taught and more to do with HOW it is taught and WHO is teaching
  4. "Underperforming" might be better said as "did not meet lofty expectations"....would take these numbers in a second: "Senior center Ian Vouyoukas (Athens, Greece) led the team and ranked sixth in the A-10 with 7.4 rpg and was third on the club with 12.4 ppg ... scored 17.6 ppg and grabbed 8.3 rpg over the last seven games ... ranks third in school history with 57 blocks this season ... holds the school record with 135 career blocks ... ranks among the program's all-time top 20 in career points (20th, 1,046) and career rebounds (15th, 640) ... reached double-figure points in 22 games, including five of the last six ... grabbed nine rebounds in the A-10 semifinal against George Washington ... poured in 21 points on 8-of-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line, while grabbing a team-high nine rebounds against UMass in the A-10 quarterfinals ... netted a game-high 19 points and snagged nine rebounds in the first round of the A-10 Championship against Duquesne."
  5. Has Kramer Soderberg played any games yet? Regardless of what happened at SLU, I hope we wish him well....
  6. History may be repeating itself.... http://slubillikens.cstv.com/sports/m-bask.../071902aaa.html
  7. where is a good peach basket when you need one?
  8. WHO'S GONNA BE BLAMED IN THE PAPER TOMORROW? MY guesses: 1- Soderberg - Didn't teach the kids any basketball....never beat ANYBODY (except Louisville, Cincinnati, Marquette, DePaul....) 2- Players -not talented, clueless, don't play hard... 3- Athletic Department - game wasn't on TV or gametracker.... 4- Tom Timmerman/Post Dispatch - didn't give it a full page preview, never mind Mizzou FB has earned a place in history 5- Neil Young - wrote a depressing song about Kent State 6- Fr. Biondi - not putting the practice gym at the Chase 7- Clayco - didn't build Chaifetz fast enough 8- Coaches - awww never mind.....what else can we think of?
  9. Justin Johnson (deja vu) 1-8 from field........ Jeffe Peterson (SLU near miss) 5 turnovers at half....... Iowa down by 16 at half.....(sounds familiar) lost to Bradley and Utah State already....
  10. We are definitely not the University of Oregon..........
  11. This was discussed in another thread....but I think it merits some discussion.... I went to the game last night and it was ugly. Tommie and Kevin seem frustrated offensively and Kevin's foul trouble made us very average. You can ask any coach from the A-10....when they prepared to play SLU last year their priorities were: (in rank order.) 1. Stop Vouyoukas...if he goes off SLU will win. Ian had guys hanging all over him. Would Majerus utilize Ian's skills differently? we will never know 2. Stop Lisch...if you slow down Kevin, your chances of winning are greater...(see Temple & Fordham) 3. Stop Liddell...Tommie had a great year last year, but his best offemsive games were in our worst defeats (see Temple), he also got the ball down the stretch in close games with so-so results (see Umass) Therefore, for us to have a good year this year, Husak has to step up and be the man....otherwise Tommie and Kevin will never have the room to work I would not be surprised if you see us start pressing more when Husak is out of the game to try to get some easy looks. Majerus has the knowledge and he will do what it takes to win....
  12. I need to get a grammar lesson.....shouldn't he be referred to as Tommie III or Liddell, instead of Liddell III? I never understood why Acie Law IV put Law IV on the back of his jersey last year...
  13. Good buzz at the arena....the guys look like they have bought in to the system! The just need alot more reps at it... I agree about the cheerleading uniforms, looked like they should be cheering at some Pop Warner football game. I am very psyched about this season...
  14. I think RM's version of rebuilding...doesn't include losing, he hasn't lost anywhere.
  15. Have you ever been in West pine Gym in the summer? It is a steambath....even the most conditioned kids can feel the effects....fortunately men's basketball season is in the winter.
  16. We don't have to copy GW's style or personnel to beat them....remember our group of slugs beat them once last year... http://slubillikens.cstv.com/sports/m-bask.../020307aae.html They were on a roll in the conference tournament last year, I would worry more about matching up to Xavier than GW.
  17. RM likes a big lineup.... look at his 1998 team for example... http://utahutes.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/s.../032498aaa.html 6-7, 6-10, 6-11, 6-9, 6-9, 6-8, 6-11
  18. Have you see tne Arena Virtual Tour on the slubillikens website, very cool
  19. That is old Athletic Dept apparel....3+ years old. Notice the sizes are only XXL+?
  20. He is playing for Olympiakos...one of the best clubs in greece... they have an english language site: http://en.olympiakos.gr/
  21. Who said every scholarship has to go to a kid from the St. Louis metro area? RM has developed a few international kids and has connections all over the country. Also, who says a Division 1 transfer doesnt come available....that would certainly help balance out the classes... If you have 10 local kids on the team, some arent gonna play...which becomes a big problem too because each of them has people that think that they are "the man"
  22. read some of the other teams' message boards after we play them...they all would love to have him on their team
  23. Diddy....was it my post you referred to...? I am happy for Larry and do not blame him for his decision. I am not a Spoonball Kool-aid drinker either. But you must admit...up to this year he had yet to reach the heights all had hoped or had predicted for him. Golden State and Wizards fans did not break the bank buying Larry's jerseys. As far as college goes...Second round his first year....if he hung around for another maybe a final four. Was Dwyane Wade's supporting cast at Marquette much better than Larry's at SLU? All you have to do is look at the changes at Marquette to understand my point... I am happy for Larry and realize he had to get his....but I doubt he ever glances at the ESPN ticker looking for Billiken scores...
