  1. I miss the good old days of getting liquored up at Bullfeathers (r.i.p.) and stumbling over to the soccer games my freshman and sophomore year, before the games were moved to the Soccer Park for a couple of years. Ah yes, the good old days when SLU was able to claim that it had the largest seamless sheet of artificial turf in the world.
  2. for summing this up perfectly. Woolard's decision to not talk to Vahe has absolutely nothing to do with ethics!
  3. Nice attempt at sh_t disturbing though.
  4. He's still recovering from a really bad injury, isn't he? I thought I remember hearing about him getting hurt last year. Who else is recruiting him?
  5. How far is Centralia from St. Louis? Hopefully, it's not "too close" for Shaw! I hope we offer him a scholarship immediately, and if we're able to get Taj Gray, that's great, but if not, I think Shaw would be a good fit for us. In my opinion, Polk is a good signing for the Billikens, and I hope that he is able to fully recover from his injury. While I definitely want us to be able to sign all of the top players in the St. Louis area, it's unrealistic to expect Brad to be able to sign blue chip recruits after just one fairly successful season. I think if Brad's early teams are able to overachieve with good but not great athletic ability (like last year's team) and we are able to reach a sustained level of success, then we will be able to land the more highly regarded recruits. I think Soderberg is the man to turn this program around, I just don't expect him to do it overnight. By the way, what's the story with Evans of Cardinal Ritter? Are we recruiting him at all?
  6. No mention of Butler, eh? Have we offered Shaw a scholarship yet?
  7. It's good to hear that Floyd is doing well. If I may add a few questions, did he look like he was in playing shape? I thought I remember that he had put on quite a bit of weight while he was injured. Also, how many years of eligibility would he have left - two? If Floyd can stay healthy enough to become a contributor, it could have a big impact on this team.
  8. No, it's actually literally one block to the north of the old Firehouse night club, across the street from a building that is being rehabbed as lofts. It's a small, narrow building with a large red door in the block of Locust west of compton, and it sits across the street from a large building that is currently being renovated as lofts. I don't know if we have the capability to show pictures on this forum, but I have a photo of the building if anyone would be interested in seeing it.
  9. He'll still always be the "f-er from Minnesota" to me.
  10. Actually, the building that the guy bought was not the former Firehouse night club on Olive, it was a very small, renovated fire house on Locust, a block north and a little west of the Firehouse night club.
  11. The Golden Flashers??? I thought they were the Golden Flashes! I'm pretty sure I don't want to know what goes on at a Golden Flashers game!
  12. Alright, I'll change my signature. Jeez.
  13. Sorry you feel that way. For me, watching that kid for the last four years was a painful experience. In my mind, Diener will always be associated with the wasted days of Lorenzo Romar's tenure at SLU (and yes, I know that Spoon recruited him). I'm hoping we've upgraded the talent level on this team and have a good feeling about the future prospects of Brad and the Diener-free Billikens. And besides, I wrote my signature as a joke. Lighten up.
  14. Why would Meyer not commit to SLU now like Polk did? Are there better programs than SLU that are recruiting him?
  15. Thank you for the link! I've heard great things about this class, and from what I've heard, Vedad Ibisevic is a real steal. It's nice to see Donigan landing some of the top local recruits.
  16. Good point. I am perfectly content that we are Drew-free though. Is his sister any good?
  17. There was a recent article on the arena in the West End Word, a community newspaper that serves my neighborhood, the Central West End. It profiled a man who recently purchased a firehouse on Locust that has been renovated into a very nice living space and just happens to be in the way of our new arena. Apparently, he is talking with the university about moving the firehouse to another location instead of having it demolished. Definitely not a cheap option, but it's nice to hear about SLU working to accomodate people who have made an investment in the neighborhood.
  18. I'm sure if we can convince A-B to donate some of the money or purchase the naming rights, beer sales will be part of the equation. And that's a good thing since beer has helped me make it through many a Billiken basketball game.
