  1. I think she was actually supposed to read her announcement before you guys started playing, but the PA announcer was rambling on. She started to read while he was talking, then she stopped and started her announcement right as the band started. By the way, that PA announcer's voice brought me back to the good old days - Errrrwinnnnn Claaaaageeeetttt!!!!!
  2. Was it Mike Seely? I enjoy his writing, and he is very knowledgeable when it comes to b-ball. I've heard him discuss the Billikens on KMOX with Bernie, and he knows his stuff.
  3. They're probably the game old fogies who sit in their seats, silent and motionless, as if they had been lobotomized moments before tip-off.
  4. Wow, not good. What happened to Tulsa's program? They used to be solid.
  5. Is there any truth to the rumor that we've offered to Hill already? Would landing Hill give us a better chance of getting Powell? Also, does Lisch's little brother play on the varsity at Althoff?
  6. Wow, they know they know the game is going to be a classic before it's been played? Those programming execs truly are visionaries!
  7. How many points did we end up scoring in that game - around 25? That was Brutal.
  8. JJ's free throws were particularly ugly though. His form looks really bad.
  9. I definitely miss "Hey Baby". Great job otherwise!
  10. I agree - he's been painful to watch this year.
  11. Why not develop Clarke as the backup PG? I'd rather see him than Drejaj out there whenever Dwayne is on the bench.
  12. But that's why I am personally in favor of building a smaller (around 10k seats) arena than the one we have planned - screw the casual observers. I'd rather have a smaller house, full of die-hards, creating a raucous atmosphere than a big arena where anyone (including hordes of fans of the visiting teams) can just walk up and buy a ticket on the day of the game. I don't want another embarassing repeat of the Dayton game in our new arena, but I'm afraid that it will continue to happen as long as we have several thousand seats too many.
  13. Yeah, it's tough to remember how we did in the games in which Love didn't play, but didn't it seem like even when he was able to play, his injuries kept him from showing how good he really was? Maybe it was just the transition from JUCO to DI, but it seemed like at the end of that season, he was just starting to show glimpses of the kind of player he would turn out to be the next season.
  14. Oops, I guess I'm already in holiday mode!
  15. I agree with you on Love's first year, but had he been healthy the entire year, I think our record would have been considerably better. I seem to remember us winning very close games against Illinois, San Francisco and a few others that I'm sure we would have won with a healthy J. Love.
  16. I don't see much of an improvement in Ian's game, but he is definitely in better shape than he was last year. He's slimmer, and his arms are bigger and a lot more defined.
  17. I think that having an on-campus arena will have a great impact. Maybe you just run with a different crowd than I did, but I don't think anyone I knew was studying on Saturday afternoons. Recovering from hangovers, maybe, but not studying. Even my girlfriend, who was a near 4.0 student in the PT program, still managed to find the time to go to games with me. I have a hard time buying the "I have to study" excuse from most people anyway, unless someone has a test the very next day. Whenever someone would tell me that, I took it as a polite way of telling me to f--- off. SLU is not Harvard for Christ's sake, it's not all that hard to have a social life and maintain a high GPA.
  18. Speaking of Izik/rebounding, why didn't Frericks get much playing time in the second half? I thought he played fairly well when he was in there, and he never got into foul trouble. And I don't know what Tom did to improve his free throw shooting so dramatically, but I wish he'd share his secret with the rest of the team. He's been money at the charity stripe this year.
  19. Is it just me, or do most of Newborne's scoring spurts seem to occur at the end of games when we're already losing by 20+ points? I hope he's able to adjust to the DI game - preferably sooner than later.
  20. Yep, that's what I meant. Brad seems to be happy with his play as well, as evidenced by his quotes in the P-D this morning. He was also very complimentary towards Luke, who I thought had some shaky moments before settling down at the end. I would prefer to see very little of Drejaj from here on out.
  21. I thought that Danny Brown's play was one of the few bright spots of last night's game. He defended well, showed good quickness and athleticism and added some scoring pop. Why not start him - at this point, what could it hurt?
  22. Makes me wish that Sloan would have taken a medical redshirt after severely injuring his shoulder during his freshman year...
  23. Dayton easily had more students at the game than we did, band excluded. I'm honestly starting to think that if a large number of us billikens.com posters were to sit in the same section, our enthusiasm would spread to other sections.
