  1. All I had seen was on the roster sheet handed out before the first game which listed Calvert Hall as his school and didn't mention Thomas More. I stand corrected.
  2. I don't remember who it was, but I do remember seeing somebody have Clarke ranked somewhere in the 90s in his list.
  3. I think that Bryant went from Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore straight to Villanova without spending an extra year in a prep school. I don't think that he was all that acclaimed coming out of high school, but I remember seeing in Athlon's preseason magazine that Steve Lappas thought that Reggie was a sleeper for them.
  4. West County has Galyan's and an actual Lids store, and as I recall Lids only has a kiosk in Crestwood and I think the Galleria. Plus West County is about 5 minutes from my house and I get to avoid Highway 40(which I don't like) and I hate the parking at the Galleria.
  5. Back to Corky the Clown. Post-Dispatch restaurant critic Joe Bonwich(also of Billikens.com fame) suggests a special promotion for the Aug. 26 Cubs-Cardinals game at Busch Stadium: "Clif St. James Night". Fans would be encouraged to dress up as Clif's most beloved character, Corky the Clown, who appeared on Channel 5 for a long run. Corky could throw out the ceremonial first pitch, in honor of Sammy Sosa. ...
  6. I'm pretty sure that I heard Martin Kilcoyne say at the end of the Foxhole today that Vashon coach Floyd Irons will be on during the first hour of tommorow's show. The show is on 1380 AM from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. My guess is that it could be an interesting interview. EDIT: Now I'm not too sure if he was on today or will b on yesterday. I caught the end of the show, so if anyone else heard this, their input would be appreciated.
  7. I didn't see the 10:00 news so I can't comment on the report about McKinney, but the fact that it was on KSDK gives it more validity imo since Cusumano is at KSDK, and he traditionally is the first one to break any news about Vashon players. If anyone can catch Frank's radio show tommorow morning, it'll probably be an interesting show. With all this said, I have to think that he'd need more than Quin just making a stupid remark on the radio to transfer. Let's just wait and see.
  8. From the way it sounds, this "Basketball Village" will be built concurrently with the arena. If everything goes according to plan with the arena, I would graduate in the first May commencement in the arena. I really like the idea of the Basketball Village because it will continue to improve the area surrounding the SLU campus, which will really help the perception of the school from a visitors standpoint.
  9. I'm not sure when schedules are released, but at the last Tip-Off meeting Brad said that the schedule was almost complete and it sounded like they were one or two games away from completing it.
  10. Alberici has also done many other contruction jobs at SLU over the years plus they have been very generous benefactors to SLU as well as DeSmet and SLUH.
  11. I don't know how close they are, but the point is moot since SLU has used all of their scholarships. If had to guess, I'd say that Humphries goes to either Minnesota or maybe another Big 10 school.
  12. The Cincy (ESPN) and Louisville (#2 at the time) games were the only regular season games to reach 1,000 students. Charlotte came in third at around 700. I would guess that the NIT game against Minnesota also eclipsed 1,000 but since that was not an official home game I didn't see those numbers.
  13. It doesn't surprise me at all to see that Alberici got the contract. The Alberici's have been affiliated with the Jesuits for a long time.
  14. Last month I made a presentation for a class aimed at persuading my fellow students to attend more games. For this project I did research which consisted of sending out surveys to about 35 schools across the country asking about each school's student attendance. In my research I found that on average schools with on campus arenas attracted had higher attendance rates. One school that is a great example of this is Holy Cross. While they have made the NCAAs the past few years, they still play in the Patriot League and probably aren't on ESPN until their conference tournament. They play in an on-campus arena and average close to double the student attendance of SLU with a little more than a third of the students that SLU has. Gonzaga, though they have achieved greater success and sees more TV time than Holy Cross and maybe SLU for that matter, plays in an on-campus arena and averages more than twice then SLU average with about half students SLU has. I think that with a combination of an on campus arena and a successful team, we will see more SLU students at basketball games.
