  1. http://www.stmichaelsacademy.org/athletics...ball/mooney.htm Looks like his school won some championship last year.
  2. Wow! I've heard of colleges cancelling school because of a hurricane, but that was in New Orleans. Even though the DC area is along the ocean, I never think of it or most other major cities along the eastern seaboard as hurricane targets. I usually think of cities along the Gulf of Mexico as hurricane targets.
  3. I'd be happy with that class. It would give us 4 quality local players, and we would also have the added bonus that we wouldn't get slammed for not recruiting local players.
  4. Taj, I'll admit to not knowing the rules of lacrosse all that well either, but I do look forward to watching the NCAA Lacrosse Final Four every Memorial Day weekend. Seeing as you are from the Baltimore area(I think), I'd suggest going over to Johns Hopkins this spring for a game if you have the time. From what I understand, they really have a passion for Lacrosse over at JHU. Actually, I would say that JHU lacrosse is about as close of a comparison to SLU soccer as there is in college sports because both programs were dominant years ago, and while they haven't won titles in a while they still remain as one of the consistently string programs in their respective sports.
  5. So, Jalensdad, do you think there is a good chance that Tommie will committ to SLU? You seem to be very close to the East St. Louis basketball program, so I thought you'd be as good of a resource on this as anyone.
  6. That area would make sense for an arena(assuming its big enough) because that would put the arena near the rest of the Billiken Sports Complex. I would assume that all the Athletics offices would be in the new building, so then those would be closer to their practice and game facilities than they currently are at West Pine Gym.
  7. I live on campus and I can't say that I saw him walking around campus, but then I've only seen a recruit walking around campus once(Ian Vouyoukas). According to a post by 3star about two weeks ago, Matt Shaw is visiting SLU this Friday, September 19.
  8. Did he say anything else on his show today concerning the Bills?
  9. I've seen over at C-USA Talk(and possibly here) that Tommie is visitng SLU this weekend. Can anyone confirm this?
  10. Kevin Lisch from Althoff Catholic High School.
  11. While I've never seen either of them play, from what I've heard Meyer sounds like more of a wing and Shaw is more of a post player. I could be wrong though, as I haven't seen either play.
  12. It looks like all the college soccer polls are now out for this week, and the SLU Soccer Billikens are the consensus 4th ranked team in the nation. Congrats to Coach Donigan and his team! Next game is Saturday against Florida International at Hermann Stadium on the SLU campus.
  13. The College Cup is in Columbus, Ohio this year on December 12th and 14th.
  14. Slubillikens.com hasn't posted the score yet, I saw at the Clemson official site that the Billikens won 2-0 on second half goals by John DiRaimondo and Vedad Ibisevic. Another great win for the Bills against a quality team. Right now we are ranked 4th in one poll and closer to 10th in the rest, but I think that with a win Sunday over Furman we could very well have a consensus top 5 team on our hands.
  15. According to 3star the other day, it was Luke Meyer. http://www.billikens.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/d...orum=DCForumID2 Today was a good day to be on campus imo. The weather was beautiful and a recruit could have seen students all over the place as there was SLU Fair, which had campus organizations trying to recruit new members. There was also a poster sale the past two days in the same area.
  16. Thanks 3star. Does SLU have any shot at getting Jamarcus Ellis? I have noticed that his high school coach is former Billiken Quitman Dillard. If so, that would be huge.
  17. Roy, I can't answer your question, but what it probably comes down to is that in soccer there aren't teams like Athletes in Action or EA All Stars to play in the preseason like there are in basketball. I guess that playing D-2 teams in preseason would be an option, but more could be gained by playing other D-1 teams.
  18. >We should all just forget about having our own teams and >root for Notre Dame! I agree!
  19. Just came across it over at slubillikens.com. http://slubillikens.ocsn.com/sports/m-bask.../082903aaa.html
  20. I posted over at the Villanova board to see if I could get any input on this situation from their fans. One interesting thing that I discoverd from reading their board is that of the two guys that got 8 game suspensions, one was from Germany and the other was from New Jersey. I can understand the guy from Germany logging up a high bill with a calling card, but the guy that called New Jersey must have made a ton of calls.
  21. Yeah, college book stores really have students suckered. The one thing I really hate is when the authors come out with a newer edition of the book because then the bookstore won't buy back your "outdated" book, so now you're stuck with a book you really have no use for anymore. One suggestion I would make would be to order your books from the internet. I've never done that, but I understand that you can save some money on the deal. I also found the suggestion for the research project at Galludet to be hillarious. It reminded me of a story I've heard where the students at Galludet were protesting something, and instead of shouting their message out, they were seen on TV emphatically using sign language.
  22. Here's a link: http://tinyurl.com/lg66 (edited to fix link)
  23. I noticed this over at the UC board and found it interesting. I think we may have done this before, but what teams besides SLU do you root for? Here are mine: Xavier-a fellow Jesuit school that I have liked since SLU and X were both in the MCC. Plus a buddy of mine goes there. Kentucky-When I was a little kid my grandmother brought me back some UK sweatshirts and sweatpants from a trip she took there, and since they were blue and white(like SLU), I became a UK fan and have been ever since. Other Catholic schools-such as Marquette, Gonzaga, Notre Dame(more for football), Georgetown, Creighton, Dayton, Villanova, St. John's, Boston College, etc. Illinois-local team, plus they have that rivalry with Mizzou. Whoever is playing Mizzou.
  24. The story is from a premium site, so I didn't get to read it, but that's what the headline says. http://collegebasketballnews.theinsiders.com/
