  1. It looks like all the college soccer polls are now out for this week, and the SLU Soccer Billikens are the consensus 4th ranked team in the nation. Congrats to Coach Donigan and his team! Next game is Saturday against Florida International at Hermann Stadium on the SLU campus.
  2. The College Cup is in Columbus, Ohio this year on December 12th and 14th.
  3. Slubillikens.com hasn't posted the score yet, I saw at the Clemson official site that the Billikens won 2-0 on second half goals by John DiRaimondo and Vedad Ibisevic. Another great win for the Bills against a quality team. Right now we are ranked 4th in one poll and closer to 10th in the rest, but I think that with a win Sunday over Furman we could very well have a consensus top 5 team on our hands.
  4. According to 3star the other day, it was Luke Meyer. http://www.billikens.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/d...orum=DCForumID2 Today was a good day to be on campus imo. The weather was beautiful and a recruit could have seen students all over the place as there was SLU Fair, which had campus organizations trying to recruit new members. There was also a poster sale the past two days in the same area.
  5. Thanks 3star. Does SLU have any shot at getting Jamarcus Ellis? I have noticed that his high school coach is former Billiken Quitman Dillard. If so, that would be huge.
  6. Roy, I can't answer your question, but what it probably comes down to is that in soccer there aren't teams like Athletes in Action or EA All Stars to play in the preseason like there are in basketball. I guess that playing D-2 teams in preseason would be an option, but more could be gained by playing other D-1 teams.
  7. >We should all just forget about having our own teams and >root for Notre Dame! I agree!
  8. Just came across it over at slubillikens.com. http://slubillikens.ocsn.com/sports/m-bask.../082903aaa.html
  9. I posted over at the Villanova board to see if I could get any input on this situation from their fans. One interesting thing that I discoverd from reading their board is that of the two guys that got 8 game suspensions, one was from Germany and the other was from New Jersey. I can understand the guy from Germany logging up a high bill with a calling card, but the guy that called New Jersey must have made a ton of calls.
  10. Yeah, college book stores really have students suckered. The one thing I really hate is when the authors come out with a newer edition of the book because then the bookstore won't buy back your "outdated" book, so now you're stuck with a book you really have no use for anymore. One suggestion I would make would be to order your books from the internet. I've never done that, but I understand that you can save some money on the deal. I also found the suggestion for the research project at Galludet to be hillarious. It reminded me of a story I've heard where the students at Galludet were protesting something, and instead of shouting their message out, they were seen on TV emphatically using sign language.
  11. Here's a link: http://tinyurl.com/lg66 (edited to fix link)
  12. I noticed this over at the UC board and found it interesting. I think we may have done this before, but what teams besides SLU do you root for? Here are mine: Xavier-a fellow Jesuit school that I have liked since SLU and X were both in the MCC. Plus a buddy of mine goes there. Kentucky-When I was a little kid my grandmother brought me back some UK sweatshirts and sweatpants from a trip she took there, and since they were blue and white(like SLU), I became a UK fan and have been ever since. Other Catholic schools-such as Marquette, Gonzaga, Notre Dame(more for football), Georgetown, Creighton, Dayton, Villanova, St. John's, Boston College, etc. Illinois-local team, plus they have that rivalry with Mizzou. Whoever is playing Mizzou.
  13. The story is from a premium site, so I didn't get to read it, but that's what the headline says. http://collegebasketballnews.theinsiders.com/
  14. Everyone else has said it perfectly. Thanks Steve. Enjoy GWU.
  15. Yeah, I was there. I actually think that SLU outplayed ND in the first half, they just couldn't put the ball in the net. ND clearly did outplay us in the second half, which is when they scored their two goals. I'm not sure about the no-call in the box, but I thought that one of the ND goals(can't remember which one) shouldn't have counted because they gained possession on what I thought was an obstruction foul. Anyway, hats off of Notre Dame. They have a good team and so does SLU, we just are a little bit inexperienced.
  16. Last week I was reading either Andy Katz or someone else from ESPN, and they wrote that if it weren't for the mess at Baylor, then Mizzou would be the outlaw program that everyone was talking about. I think i might agree with them now.
  17. Thanks to Roy and Nate for clearing that up for me.
  18. Nate, how do the transfer rules work for the MSHSAA? I know that some players have had to sit out a year because of their transfering to another school, such as Joe Ries and Mike Kalicak at DeSmet. Is there an exception in the rules if a player relocates?
  19. Actually that would be a close battle. Assuming Randy hasn't stepped it up lately with his 3's, it would be a contest between two poor outside shooters. Aaron Miles isn't known for being a good outside shooter at all, but he did make a big 3 for KU when they beat Mizzou at Hearnes last year. I don't remember if it tied the game or gave KU the lead, but all I remember seeing is that I believe the shot clock was running out and he had to fire one from outside. The shot looked more like a soccer throw-in than a basketball shot, but somehow it went went in.
  20. At one point he was rumored to be transferring to DeSmet. Then Nate asked him about the rumors and Kyle said he was going to CBC before saying "just kidding" a few seconds later. The two schools I have heard him associated with are DeSmet and CBC.
  21. The thing is that Pilz was a very successful player for UMSL when he played there, so I guess that they wanted someone who was familiar with the program. When he was a player at UMSL they enjoyed their greatest success.
  22. Wow. I think that Baylor really just needs to have the program shut down for a couple of years while this all sorts out. I'd guess that there will be all sorts of civil and maybe criminal charges in light of this whole thing in addition to Dotson's murder charge. Whether Baylor imposes it on themselves or the NCAA does it, they need to shut the program down.
  23. >Reminds me a bit of Dipsy but has the potential to >be a little better with the ball. He needs to work on his >finishing as he could have easily scored 4 or 5. I thought the exact same thing about Will John. Right now I'm not going to get worried about this team's defense. Nick Gannon, who I would say is our team's best defender, was given the night off, so I think that this defense will be better with him in the middle. I ran into tseugnekillib on the way to the garage and the consensus was that this team clearly has the talent to score goals, but their one problem tonight was that they waited to long to shoot the ball. They would try to make one pass or move too many. I missed the first Loyola goal, but we dominated the rest of the first half, and Coach Donigan played all of his bench players, so I believe that was part of how the lead shrunk. The only players who didn't play were Gannon, Danny Wynn, John DiRaimondo, Brian Grazier, Pat Kelly, and David Greathouse. Gannon and Wynn are certain contributors, DiRaimondo and Grazier are with the US under 17 national team right now, and Kelly and Greathouse are backup goalies. Next game is Tuesday against SMS at 7:00 pm at Hermann Stadium.
  24. To clarify for others, the two players that are referred to are Vedad Ibisevic, a freshman from Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, who is a Bosnian immigrant, and John DiRaimondo, a freshman who went to SLUH for a year before playing for the US under 17 national team the past few years. For those who don't know, the first exhibition game is this Friday at 7:00 pm at Hermann Stadium on the SLU campus against Loyola Chicago.
