  1. Not so, remember Ryan Hollins played last year for the UCLA Bruins, and JJ sat only because Coach Soderberg decided to redshirt him. It depends on the kind of release the school the kid commited decides to give.
  2. We stayed at the very warm Luxor around Memorial Day week. We did not see Blue Man Group in Vegas, but have tix for the touring version here in Tampa...the show here was an immediate sellout at Performing Arts...Tampa's updated version of St Louis' Fox.
  3. I don't have a huge problem with 4 buyin games on this year's schedule, as I agree with the sentiment of having a number of new players coming on board. It does appear that the SIUC game may have been excluded due to the scheduling of the 4 buyin games. I think that is a good game for both SLU and SIUC, so I hope this is just a one year deal. I am wondering when, and if, we might schedule our Jesuit friends to our West, Creighton. Seems to me, that it has been quite awhile since we played them.
  4. BRoy, Good report on what you saw. Too bad that Lidell's grades will more than likely keep him out of a D-1 Uni next year, as he sounds like a player that we could really use.
  5. This out of town fan isn't expecting much in the way of revelation type information from this interview. My view remains that Fr. Biondi will be the main cog in any conference revamping for our Billikens and Woolard will be along for the ride.
  6. Not a surprise as he doesn't have the long range shooting ability necessary to play in the NBA.
  7. I think that you hit that one on the head. As a replacement to CB, almost anything that he does contribute should be an improvement.
  8. You can count on me making at least one roadie to St. Louis the year the new arena opens.
  9. With the big boys as far as recruiting. My 2nd favorite team is the Zags and they have had a very successful recruiting season according to this article in CBS Sportsline. It would be nice if Coach Soderberg can put together a team like the Zags. http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/6469917
  10. You were right on about Pinkel and Kent St. Are any Mizzou fans worried that Hedges might come calling again now that she axed Slick Rick?
  11. Thicks, I, for one, am not looking for your usual 20 win prediction for next year based on your analysis. Heck, you have some logical arguments so you may be right for a change.
  12. I have no problem with the eval that you just laid out. However, I am reasonably pleased with what I have seen from Coach Sooderberg. Much too early to tell how successful he will be, but I like his work ethic and I believe that he has a system in mind. Time will tell how many, if any, NCAA bids that will translate into.
  13. BRoy, No, as I mentioned on the board a week or so ago, I am now a DSL customer. I still have your email address and I will send you my new one.
  14. David, I like your enthuiasm for the 2003-04 Billikens. I might be reading into more than what you have posted, but I kind of think that you will be disappointed if the team isn't seriously looking at a NCAA Bid.
  15. I don't know Roy, I count myself both a died in the wool Billiken basketball fan and someone who is equally passionate about college football. Of course, I have a UT Vol Alum at home, so it is easy to have a fondness for their very successful football program. We went absolutely berserk the night that the Vols beat FSU for the National Championship. The champagne flowed that night.
  16. Just think everyone in Seattle thought Hedges was hiring him when she pulled her fast one and hired Slick Rick New Weasel instead. Pinkel is not only a UW Alum but had coached on Don James staff.
  17. I did see a note on the Williams kid, believe it, or not, in the St. Petersburg Times of all places. Hurts even more when the kids are from your own backyard as the Williams kid was from Bremerton, WA.
  18. I like a few others never doubted that once the SLU Board approved this that we weren't going to be sitting in the new on campus arena in a couple years.
  19. When it is actually Billiken basketball season and we do not see any pregame notes from T & T.
  20. I was a SLU Alum who had season tickets for years to Mizzou football. However, I jumped off after about a year on Woody's Wagon. I enjoyed the experience of going to big time college football games. Back in those days and I started going when Uncle Al was HC, Faurot Field rocked and it was a lot of fun to attend games. I remember games vs ND, Penn State, and Texas where I was darn glad just to have a ticket. I hope Gary Pinkel will get the football program back to be force in the Big 12. From what I have read about him, I think he has a good chance. I still like to see what the football team is up to, but I don't get to see them much down here in Florida where the Gators, Canes, and Noles rule. We don't think much of those Gators in our house, as my wife is a Vols Alum, and I have been to Neyland Stadium before. They take their football very seriously at UT, and it's really cool to be in a crowd of over 100K.
  21. I don't know if it is just me, but of all the rumors, this one seems to make the most sense. We'll just have to wait and see what actually happens.
  22. Never been to the Metrodome so I cannot make a comment on that one. I hated the departed King Dome and thought it was a total waste for baseball. Seattle did it right with Safeco Field which is a super baseball stadium. This is the third baseball season that we have lived in Tampa and I still have not been to the Fruit Dome. As far as I am concerned they play minor league ball at that place, and that is from someone who could get free tickets to the games. I was an original Rams PSL season ticket holder before we started moving all over the country. I must say that I was not blown away by the then TWA and now Ed Dome. The Kiel and now Savvis Center is a great place and here in Tampa the Ice Palace now the St. Pete Forum is an equal to Savvis IMHO. I am excited about our new on campus arena and I have a feeling that it will be 1st class under the capable hands of Fr. Biondi. I suppose that I was one of the people who ran off from the city as I was born and raised in an area known as Dogtown, but I was long gone from the city after reaching my early 20's. While I can't say the city scared me off, I just prefered to live in St. Louis County.
  23. This would surely be a very boring board. I don't always agree with you and I know that you have not always agreed with me, but debating opinions is what makes a fan board fun. I still consider myself a very passsionate Billiken fan and want nothing but success for the team. Like you and several others on this board, I live and die with this team. I have stated that Butter33 is welcome to have his Ahearn agenda if it makes him/her happy...just as I feel having viewpoints from folks that are not true Billiken fans is OK too. I feel it adds some spice to the board, keeps us on our toes, and once in awhile people with opposing views actually make some decent points. I am totally against censorship as long as people watch things like their language. Accusing someone of being a relative was actually kind of funny to me, but then again I also think the board should be fun and I like to try and throw in humor every so often. The day this board isn't fun to me then I am out of here.
  24. I don't have any problem reading posts with folks having differing view points. In fact while I don't agree a lot of times with both AJ and T & T, I do read their posts. In T & T's case I find many of his posts funny in a sarcastic sort of way. Our new Ahearn defender is certainly entitled to his opinion. I think that our coaching staff should look to recruit the local kids first...all things being equal. I'm not sure that the debate came down to Clarke vs Ahearn decision. Only Coach Soderberg can really answer why he soured on Blake, and his job is on the line if he makes too many bad decisions. Only time will tell if he made the coreect decision.
  25. Well said ACE...seems like a lot of folks got their shorts all tangled in a wad over one All Star game. I learned long ago not to put too much stock in any All Star game. Not too much "D" played in these games which makes true evaluations pretty meaningless. Let's see what we have after Coach Soderberg has time to work with these kids and then we can make the real evaluations on what we have or don't have.
