  1. With Q at the helm, I'm glad you put that "so far" disclaimer.
  2. There is an old saying...If wishes were horses then beggars would ride! That might describe what I thought of LoRo's recruiting efforts.
  3. You hit the nail right on the head!
  4. I tend to agree with his take that no way will Kobe ever do any jail time for this alleged assault. The burden of proof in this he said-she said case will be entirely in the young ladies corner. Her credibility will be put to the test big time. Since he has admitted to adultery only...I still can see this as a case where the charges are whittled down to some meaninless misdemeanor where Kobe gets a slap on the wrist.
  5. I am always up for a good brew, as the last 11 years in St. Louis, I worked for Anheuser-Busch. I just don't know if a trip to St. Louis is in the cards this year. To answer your other question, yes, I did use a search engine to find your mysterious question.
  6. Sounds like Mizzou has a heckuva player in Kleiza. He has had quite a tourney.
  7. If we were to add another MVC team then the one that would make the most sense to me is our fellow Jesuit school, Creighton. We did have a series with them that I would like to see rekindled.
  8. Even know that Drake was still D-1. Seriously, are they? When was the last time that sorry a$$ program even had a sniff of a post season tourney. I'm surprised that they would have ANY fans, let alone one brash enough to come around trash talkin on our board. At least get into a meaningful tourney in the next millenium before coming to this board again...loser!
  9. 3Star, How tall is Taj? Only questions on him would be if Brad wants to wait until the spring and since he is a Juco, will he be able to get into SLU? Seems to me someone mentioned that it will be harder for us to get Juco transfers accepted.
  10. Not saying it is right, but the previous posters may be on to something when they report Mizzou wasn't the only school caught with their hands in the cookie jar on this Conley kid. MU may get off with a crack on the knuckles if elite programs like KY were also involved in similar phone calls like Mizzou. While it is easy to question the fairness of that...heck, that's just the NCAA...they set the rules and choose to enforce them how they see fit. I guess it is OK to look at the Romar thing and say he got a stiff penalty, and no question UW did. However, I also concur with the idea, that he should have cut his losses with Dollar and dumped his rear end when this all came out in the open. Might have made a difference, but again, with the NCAA, who knows. Hey, nobody said everything in life has to be fair.
  11. Guess we won't be seeing them make any Big Dance appearances in the near future. Sure glad they didn't pull any of those sheningans while at SLU...at least they weren't caught if they did.
  12. They had an interesting segment on HBO's Real Sport on just this topic. By the way, baseball isn't immune to this problem either. Guess the athletes around the world see the money that can be made here and have dedicated themselves to getting some of it.
  13. BRoy, Pardon me if I forget to shed any tears for the Mailman. I mean if this guy has invested his money even halfway decent, then what he gets from a NBA pension will be the least of his worries. Heck, my wife and I have done very well in the market, so well I moved here to Tampa without a job. I have to believe Karl is set up for life, as he doesn't impress me as one of the NBA types who got hooked on the wrong kind of vices like drugs. Karl's move to LA LA land IMHO was strictly to get a ring before he hangs it up. Surely, his skills have not gone down the tubes far enough that he could not have received a better money deal with a lesser team.
  14. I seriously doubt that if, and when, SLU is forced to look for a new conference that Fr. Biondi has his sights set on the MVC. No way, no how, do I see that happening anytime in our future. SLU has it's sights set on bigger and better conference affiliation.
  15. tseugnekillib, Do you happen to know where I could get the dates of the Orlando Tourney? It's close to home, and if the timing fits with my schedule then I might try and swing by to see the St. Louis kids play.
  16. Wow MUTGR, your mention of Willie Smith brought back memories of the regional final game he played against Michigan where he nearly shot Mizzou into the Final Four. It was an incredible shooting performance.
  17. Your first statement is true on many past and perhaps some present D-1 HC's. Back when I was in school, I knew many players personally that went to Mizzou and played for ol Stormin Norm. They absolutely could not stand the guy; however, like I said I'm certain that was a common trait in those days...just not sure how much or if it still holds water with today's kids.
  18. I think that it is fair to say that Melvin was given a chance to shine and for reasons that only he and Rich Grawer know, it did not completely work out for him at SLU. My take is that is too bad, but in the same vein, I'm sure that Melvin doesn't come out lily white in the blame game analysis of his SLU tenure. He has some culpability in the fact that his stay at SLU did not measure up to expectations.
  19. I've seen the same take from Lefty in a few other spots. In other words, don't bet the house on Master Tyler showing up in a Blue and White Billiken Uni. It may be time for Coach Soderberg to try and reel in Matt Shaw, if he can.
  20. Not getting Grimes who many of us felt was a huge reach isn't the end of the world for Coach Soderberg or our Billikens. I'm certain that Coach will have some success and some failure in recruiting the Metro area. I've agreed with the notion that it is nice to have some good local kids on the Bills team. However, I am much more concerned that Coach gets the best kids to fit his system no matter where they reside. If he can consistently make that happen then I believe that Coach Soderberg will have a successful career at SLU.
  21. I have no problem with the Big Chill at all, and thought that he had some decent minutes in his all too short Billiken career. If his son turns out to be a player, then I hope that Big Chill had enough good memories that he steers his son to SLU.
  22. BRoy, Overall, I think that you are right about Nova's basketball heritage which is a fine one. AJ, just has not taken his medication yet today, so he should be excused. Besides, I have a fondness for them because like me, they are educated by the Augustinian order.
  23. I am going to end the discussion on whether, or not, Reggie will be a good player and go back to the original topic of Ian. I am not about to judge this kid on the World Jr. Tourney. To me, seeing is believing, and we won't really know exactly what we have until we see Master Ian on the Billiken hardwood. Please don't throw a kid under the bus until we have at least seen him play a game or two.
