  1. Actually, I wouldn't wish going back to the Ron Ekker days on anyone including Triangle & Too. The Bills had horrible teams and you could count the number of people going to the games at the old Kiel. My wife used to comment on how stupid we were for being one of the few. I guess back in those days I could almost relate to being a Flubs fan.
  2. Vaguely remember something stupid like that...was that before or after he decided he liked the female cheer leaders over his wife?
  3. Pretty soon they will be all wrapped up in probation!!!
  4. No, Hank Raymonds was Al McGuire's top Asst. and took over as MU HC when Al retired after winning the NCAA Tourney.
  5. The funny thing is that with their history...I'd give even odds that Alou doesn't make that catch with the fan getting out of his way. The goofy thing was that there were many fans not just the one nerd that were trying to catch the damn ball, as you say amazing stuff, but that's Flubs baseball. I'd hate to admit to being a fan. Hopefully, our Cardinals will kick it in gear next year with a few additions/deletions.
  6. Actually, and I will have to check this document that I just printed, but I remember Al McGuire bringing MU at least once to the Arena. If my memory is correct it would be back in the Bob Polk days. By the way, I thought Bob Polk was a pretty decent Billiken HC...he coached Harry Rogers and Jimmy the Jet Irving. What I remember about Al was he really got our crowd worked up to a lather. By the way, his Asst. was Hank Raymonds, a former St. Louisan. My Dad knew Hank's mother very well.
  7. BRoy, That is cool stuff...I just printed the history stuff, as it has information on the players and years that they played for SLU. Since I am one of the old time fans...I will be able to connect the various players that I have seen going back to 50's and 60's.
  8. Choice, I'll second BRoy's welcome. Heck, with good smack like that defending the honor of our favorite team, don't be bashful about posting.
  9. David, The stars are alligned just right for our Billikens to wind up in the A-10...just as they were alligned for the Flubs to drop two in a row at Wrigley to the Fish, even with their two best pitchers rested and ready to go. What a choke job!
  10. Torch, Where are you getting the information on the number of times that we played someone...a press guide? If it is a press guide, how can I get a copy? By the way, back in our early MVC days, SLU did have a pretty fierce rivalry with Bradley. I also seem to recall when I first started listening to games in the 50's that SLU played KY what seemed like every year. I also seem to remember at one time that SLU had a winning record VS KY.
  11. So he ended up getting neither one...pretty much par for the course for that failed regime...glad we had our regime change, as I like Coach Soderberg 110% more.
  12. Alameda Bob kind of stole my thunder as I was going to say the the Billiken could kick the nerdy Stanford tree around the gym.
  13. I could care less what CUSA will look like after conferencegate. My only desire is to see a strong A-10 conference once our Billikens begain that conference affiliation. CUSA has not been the best of fits for us for quite some time, and it will be a mess very soon.
  14. I am not trying to throw any rain on this subject, but I do hope to see Larry carry this kind of production into the regular season.
  15. Broy, You need to slow down my friend. You just hit the 4,000 post jackpot and I am a mere 3,000 behind you having just hit the 1,000 milestone. You could take another vacation down here in FL and I'd still be way behind you. All kidding aside...keep the faith, this program is heading in the right direction and we have no one to apologize about the outlook for our team.
  16. Torch, I won't try and argue the merits of USF football because I know what big time college football is, and it is not USF...it's also not Louisville or Cincy. Having said that there are a number of the USF fans that believe the program will be big time in the very near term. I can tell you for sure that they do have one of the finest young HC's in college football in Jim Leavitt. He was strongly in the running for the Bama job before the ill fated Mike Price hire. There are some worried people at USF now as he has not signed his contract extension and the FL Gators have a HC in Ron Zook that many of their backers feel was a big mistake. If the Gator job opens then look for Jim Leavitt's name to be high on the list.
  17. Add Kevin Lisch to that mix and you definitely have a back court that most teams in the country would love to have.
  18. Broy, Just think, in one special evening, you have gone from being a bitter man to an ass. I can just see it tomorrow, Billiken Rich will have an addendum to his sign off. LOL!
  19. Good ridance to CUSA...our Bills have been swimming in the shark tank for awhile. If the A-10 does become our new conference home, we can get out of the shark tank and be alligned with a number of schools with a similar philosophy to SLU's.
  20. If you are asking me...you'll NEVER find me on any MVC website...I cn't help it if some of the Bills fans troll on MVC boards...my time is too valuable for that nonsense. I have ZERO interest in the league. My team is the SLU Billikens.
  21. David, Thanks a lot and great report. I assume questions are asked. If so, did anyone ask about where Coach might envision the Bills when dust settles in conferencegate??? A-10 would be my thoughts/hope right now. Sorry MVC! By the way, I can feel Coach's excitement for this upcoming year loud and clear all the way here in Palm Harbor, FL. If he is as excited as I think he is, then I expect a highlight filled Billiken season.
  22. BRoy or anybody else who attended, I was wondering what was discussed?
  23. Thicks, Nice rebut to our bird brain friend who has had his cranium scrambled what with hitting it on the wall so often the last day or two. Most Billiken fans don't care about the Lil' Ol MVC...those days are ancient history for us. School is still out on the 2003-04 Billiken team, but with Coach Soderberg at the helm, I expect an exciting team. How many wins that translates too...heck, I will leave that up to the experts. However, I won't be surprised if this Billiken team also puts it in gear, the 2nd half of the year just like the 2002-03 team.
  24. XU95, Touche or should I have said KACHING!
  25. You must a very freakin hard head.
