Oh ye of little faith . . . I fully expect us to knock off Louisville or Cincinnati as we have every year for the past five years. I realize they are improved, but so are we.

Frankly, if we can't beat Louisville or Cincinnati, we don't deserve to be in the Dance. You shouldn't be able to get an at large bid by piling up wins against mediocre teams.

I beg to differ. The kid shoots about 20% from three point range. If he was merely settling for jump shots, he would almost never score. Now I'll admit Jared settled for a lot of jumpshots in the last two games of the Meramec tournament but he wasn't hitting them either. In the games where Jared scores in double digits, he slashes.

"I've only seen Cardinal Ritter once this year, but it seems like Barnett and Leonard have very similar games." I don't really see this comparison at all. They're both about the same size but they go about their business differently. Barnett is a shooter who doesn't play much defense and Leonard is a slasher who is developing into a defensive stopper.

I know it's early but I see some Chris Carawell in Jared Leonard. With 20 lbs and an improved shot over the next two years, we could be looking at a reasonable facsimile.

Lisch is more of a pure scorer and a physical specimen - he outweighs Diener by about 20 lb. Travis Diener is a classic point guard in the mold of Bobby Hurley. Lisch's physicality and scoring mentality reminds me more of former Illinois star Kiwane Garris.

So we have four scholarships to give based on the 5/8 rule, assuming we give 4 scholarships to the current class. Jimmy's totally lost confidence in his j. In high school, he would regularly drop it in from a few feet beyond the arc and even when he missed it was close. Now he just flings the ball in the general direction of the hoop. He really needs to get away from that bad coaching environment and start over in the MVC. It's done wonders for Marcellus Sommerville.

Lisch and an inside player are the top priorities for the 2004 class. Lawrence or Sargent or whoever the third scholarship player is really an afterthought since those kids won't be seeing the floor the first 2 years. We'll be very deep at their positions.

Nice offensive player but Barnett has not shown he can guard the chair I'm sitting in on a consistent basis. Brad would throw a fit.

Lafayette's Matt Lawrence. He's been shooting the heck out of the ball from mid-range, three point land and the free throw line and also has shown that he can hit the boards a bit at 6'6. Averaging about 17 ppg. So the top three would be: 1. Kevin Lisch 2. Matt Lawrence 3. Arthur Sargent After a strong early start, Jenning's PF Matt Akins has really been a disappointment the last month. He's 6'8 but just isn't strong enough to finish around the basket or hold onto a rebound when guards hack at him. Coach is going to have to go outside of St. Louis to find a big man. Don't blame Quin's ineptitude on Coach K. Mike was able to bucket loads of games with average athletes like Ferry and Abdelnaby.

For which remaining games is a bus provided? I'd look to do a road game this year.

Reggie shouldn't have to guard 6'5 skywalkers, that should have been Izik's man. But Izik logged most of his minutes against Novak and backing up Sloan. Until we stop playing three guard lineups the Hasan Adams and Cartier Martins and Dameon Masons of the world are always going to be a problem.

Polk is a classic point guard. Lavender is a scorer. But yes, Polk is very fast.

"Merrit was hacked a number of times. Jackson had position on a play that was called a block." All post players get hacked. Frericks got hacked almost every time he made a move to the basket.

The fact that Reggie was a sixth man at Villanova and is a star here just goes to show where our talent level is right now. Man, if only we could have Polk playing with Bryant for more than one year.

Frericks will never play more than 19 minutes against Marquette, Louisville or Cincinnati. The refs won't allow it.

I'm still wondering how Steve Novak have enough time to dribble into the lane, stop, pivot left, pivot right, pivot left again and throw up an off balance shot without being called for a three second call. These type of garbage calls and non-calls were going on all night against the Billikens.

"In this league if a top 25 team is in a close game and there is an oppurtunity for the refs to affect the outcome in that teams favor it gets done. This just infuriates me and I cannot wait to get out of this garage league." I've noticed this also. If CUSA is really serious about getting more than four teams in the Dance, the officlas have to treat all the teams with respect, not just the ones in the top 25. When Merritt started off the game with a spin move that barrelled over a Billiken defender and no foul was called, I knew we were gonna get screwed.

It's a darn shame when hiring decisions are made by people you've never seen. Do they suits at Gannett even know who Frank C. is?
