  1. Assuming he gets back to Desmet, and assuming he gets his junior year back...does that help or hurt us? I'm thinking it might scare off others, where we might stick with him and pick up a good player below the radar. mhg
  2. tseug- Have we ever before seen anyone respond to his own post....twice? mhg
  3. Look in the Greece Australia game, in the team photo, he is #15. I agree he has filled out in the upper body. We'll have to see if he really has gotten any stronger. Can't find any game stats on this site. mhg
  4. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I believe you are 0 for two on this one. We have been hearing for quite a while about two games in St Chuck, and I am certain that Bernie knows quite well the Biondi Dome is going to get done sooner than later, and he is merely positioning himself to take the credit the instant the anouncement is made about the Arena. mhg
  5. St. Louis U. probably will be forced to play two home basketball games at Family Arena in St. Charles this season because of scheduling conflicts at Savvis Center. (By the way: When will SLU break ground on the campus arena? Will it ever happen?) ... St. Louis U. director of athletics Cheryl Levick and a SLU delegation hosted Atlantic 10 Commissioner Linda Bruno in a Busch Stadium suite at Thursday's Cardinals-Marlins game. ...
  6. poster child for the KMOX, the sports voice of St Louis? or at least until the Blues come back to KMOX. mhg
  7. Call Margo Lubus at the Billiken Club 977-8180. She can probably help you. mhg
  8. The issue is how his dad might affect the team. We all had concerns about Slaten when his son was being recruited and how the father might cause discord among the faithful. Of course with a daily radio show he would be in a better position to do this. But I have heard about father Lisch's behavior at games with his girls in the past has been difficult. Hope he tones it down here, and doesn't interfere in the workings of the team. Don't remember any such problem in the past for SLU with parents' interference. mhg
  9. The AD kept saying that the A10 produces their own TV package, so I haven't heard anything for sure what is available in other venues. Probably is different in each metropolitan area. I'm assuming we will continue with the Charter local production here, much to the dismay of the city residents who can't get Charter locally produced shows. mhg
  10. I like hearing that he feels he is getting a competitive workout at the SLU gym. Anyone on our squad able to keep up/defend him? mhg
  11. Roy If that's what they do, how much dough would that really generate? If I have those seats, I just move back ten rows and pay nada. It would have to entail a much larger base in terms of volume, but not be onerous. The Rams needed PSLs to entice Georgia to come. It was supply and demand, they demanded and St Louis supplied. Does SLU have that kind of leverage? Don't think so. It is the only game in town, but the demand just isn't there. It left when last season went in the tank. mhg
  12. He's a freshman, we've never seen him play vs D1 competition. He may very well be red shirted after they see how he performs vs the regulars on the team. The first Tip Off Club this year should be very interesting. mhg
  13. we did speak at length, Roy, on the Billiken, and the absence of stuff with his face. I picked up a tie with no Billiken, two shirts without and one shirt with a Billiken on it. She seemed truly interested in my input...possibly just adminispeak, but she seemed truly concerned. I thought they should have more stuff at the soccer games. Six of us went to the SLU/IU soccer match two years ago. We outdraw IU each year at soccer. IU soccer field had a huge permanent booth just for selling IU stuff, separate from the concession stand. We have a little table with a few things. (IU being national champs a few years in a row doesn't hurt, either) mhg
  14. I drove by SLU's med school campus to check out the bookstore's new merchandise. The enormity of this research center for the med school campus is impressive. I can see why Fr Biondi needed this to get done first, to maintain the overall integrity of the academic mission of SLU. While at the bookstore, the manager and I had a looong talk, told her to look up this site to read what we all had to say about marketing and promoting. There are a number of new shirts, only two ties, a whole load of sweats and such. Too much baby and kids' stuff IMHO (and I'm a pediatrician). The manager said there are three different web sites to get SLU merchandise (go figure). There apparently is one for alumni, and they can design their own shirt with style, logo, etc. Have not found it yet, but that is a novel approach I had not previously heard. The other two must be through the athletic web page, and through the slu.edu website. She said there are new merchandizing things "in the works". I stopped her there, and told her how long we have heard there are better things coming. the time to provide is now. She was very interested in hearing what I had to say, and said she would check out our site.....Whatever. mhg
  15. How early can a school offer a scholarship to a HS kid? Are you saying that SMS offered a scholarship to a kid going into 10th grade? mhg
  16. My son knew a previous field hockey coach when she played at Northwestern, and I followed SLU some while she was in charge. They tried hard but just couldn't put it together. Seems things have improved on the field somewhat since then. Don't think CUSA had anything in field hockey, so A-10 may be a boost to that program, though it sure is a small player in the big picture. I think it was in the 70's when we were a power nationally. The coach was a professor at SLU Med School and was well known from his days in Europe. mhg
  17. I would dare say you have not been to a Bills game yourself, since Father Biondi is a regular attendee at Bills' games. He travelled with the team to Chicago to attend the game vs DePaul. Get a life, dude. Know a little about which you speak before you make rash accusations. mhg
  18. muchos apologatos, thanks for the correction. mhg
  19. takes third in the European U20 championships. IV starts, plays only 18 minutes, had 5 fouls, 3/5 floor, O FT, 7 reb, 2 TO, 2 blocks and six points. It is a concern that he fouled out of two games, but may be a good sign in that he may have just been playing more physical as he would at D1 SLU rather than European ball. Just glad he came through uninjured through it all, hope he had a good experience and comes back energized for his junior year. mhg
  20. "But I'm a team player and I want to help this team win." That's the whole story right there...why the VTime approach about showboating and dunks and individual things won't make it with Bradball. Brad should get shivers up and down when he reads that. mhg
  21. Greece beats Latvia, plays for 5th place tomorrow. Ian starts, second on team in minutes 23. 2/6 floor, 3/5 FT, 4 reb, 1 foul, 4 steals, 2 blocks, 7 pts. mhg
  22. Ian didn't start but was in top four for the game in points (13) Vougioukas, I. 23min, 3/4 floor, 7/8 FT, 3 blocked shots, 13 pts, 5 PF, 4 reb, 1 TO. mhg
  23. Was wandering around and looked at an old site I had bookmarked of where old Billikens are now playing their 'professional ball' since playing at SLU. Under Randy Pulley, they have listed Barton County CC! Probably was one of his best paying gigs, eh? http://www.usbasket.com/USAteam.asp?team=5...niversity%20%20 mhg
  24. would have felt better if IV had led the Greek team in scoring a few times, or had they won one of their quarterfinal bracket games. mhg
