  1. Demetrius Johnson was commenting on the SkyHawks basketball team apparently he is involved with now with Floyd Irons. DJ said there was an area baller with college eligibity left who was going to sue the SkyHawks for not allowing him to play on the team. He did not say who the player was but my first thought went to Nick Kern. Was wondering if anyone had any updates on wheree Nick was and if he is the player attepting to sue the SkyHawks.
  2. I used a moniker similar to yours on a totally different board some time ago. Let me set the record straight that the kevin footes who posts on billikens.com is not the poster gruehls is talking about. Gruehls' references to nazis are referring to me. We hashed this out some time ago I don't know why he continually brings it up. He was foolish the first time to accuse me of being a racist or anti-semitic or whatever and now calling someone else that is ridiculous whether he is confused or not. Regardless this was settled some time ago and it was agreed that this board was not the place to discuss these matters. This a basketball board not a place for politics or character asassinations.
  3. Any positive Billiken column must be cancelled out by a negative one.
  4. Will any Billikens be named all conference? Reggie will be all conference, possibly first team. I forget whether CUSA just pickes the 5 best players or picks by position ie 2 guards, swingman, PF and C. Fish could merit some votes as well, at least be honorable mention. Who will be Coach of the Year? Calipari is a very strong candidate esecially if Memphis wins the conference. Anderson is in the mix as well and I think the guy at TCU could garner some votes. Calipari is probably the heavy favorite. POY? This is wide open. Garcia was the Preseason POY but with his injuries he may have fallen out of contention. Travis Diener is right there but his team is not very good. Burks and Banks on Memphis both have POY resumes. Mo Finley will get some looks. Curtis Withers of course and Charles Gaines on USM. Jason Maxiell is always in the running. Reggie if he can get a couple more 20 point outings should be in the mix as well. Right now I think it is a tossup between Burks and Diener. How is Josh Fisher doing in his chase to set the assists record? They give updates in the post before every game. I think prior to DePaul he was about 30 short of the record. He gets over 4 a game so we will need a couple CUSA tourney games to ensure Fish of getting the record.
  5. This article deals with some sociological issues, mainly young African-Americans focus on athletics over scholastics as a way out of poverty. Dwayne and his mother are featured prominently along with several players on East Side. Dwayne and the East Side ballers seem to have their heads on straight and are potrayed in a good light in the article. I found the article as a whole not that great, to me this issue is one that has been rehashed over and over again and this did not ahve any great insights on it. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stor...lacks,+some+say
  6. This just doesn't feel like the same ol Too. 2 possibilities - It is the real Too but his doctors have put him on more powerful drugs which have had a detrimental effect on his post's content or Steve or Thicks have taken over his handle and are doing an incomplete imitation of him.
  7. What a game by Ross. 10 points in the second half. He catches alot of heat from me in particuliar but I have to hand it to him. He was definetely the MVP of this game. Hit his jumpers and blocked out DePaul's big men better than anyone else has on the Billikens team. Made some timely passes as well, he was intregal in SLU ability to move the ball so efficiently in the second half. Hats off to Ross. He deserves all the accolades today.
  8. The problem with IO is mental. He seems confused as to his role on the court. Even on a roll he does not look for the ball to make things happen. Every time he makes a mistake, ie a miss or a block, he stops shooting. It like he is punishing himself for the mistake or he is afraid he will get pulled if he makes another miss. I think he needs to be given the green light. He is not coming off the floor even if he does miss shots with the way he is playing D.
  9. After the flop Diener kicked out his legs and tripped up Reggie who was on his way to a fast break. Of course a no call from the ref.
  10. I believe he did make 1. He was like 1-7 or 1-6. Still horrible. I have to believe that his injury is playing a role. Ramsey said on air that his form was totally off. It may be that he may not be able to get into a crouch on his shot.
  11. For anyone who was at the game did Crean really hug the Ref?
  12. Merritt had 7 TOs Marquette had ZERO second chance points.
  13. He is yelling alot tonight. Really hyped up.
  14. Wake looks like they are going to beat Duke. UAB beats Cincy K St beat Nebraska Illinois beat Wisconsin Auburn beat LSU Clemson beat NC St Colorado beat Texas Tech And Savannah St has a 3 game winning streak going with a last second win over Bethune-Cookman. This season is still wide open. The Billikens still ahve a shot at this thing.
  15. One of the Francis Howell schools used to be called Union. They changed it according to the other post.
  16. Grimes had a triple double tonight against Normandy I think.
  17. I don't how many off the top of the head Here is as many as I can remember Francis Howell " " North " " Central Wentzville Orchard Farm Fort Zumwalt, 3 or 4 of those schools with directional names St Charles St Charles West Union??? LHS-St Charles St. Dominic Duchesne There are probably more
  18. http://prepsports.stltoday.com/ssi/prep/st...ing+for+a+match SLU was mentioned in this article don't knwo if anyone saw it or not. --------------------- Rumors also might have complicated matters. The local grapevine has Kalicak headed to St. Louis University as a non-scholarship walk-on. Not true, said Kalicak, whose father simply called SLU to see if the Billikens were interested. They weren't, just as SLU wasn't interested last year in Blake Ahearn, the DeSmet shooting guard who signed with Southwest Missouri State and is one of the top marksmen in the Missouri Valley Conference and the nation for 3-pointers and free throws. "When SLU signed Reggie Bryant last year, they no longer needed Blake," Steiner said. "SLU got crucified for that, which I think was really unfair. With college coaches, guys lose their jobs if they don't recruit the players they need. With Mike, maybe everybody's got a small forward or shooting guard already. Who knows?" ---------------- To clarify Tom Wheatley wrote this article, not our esteemed fellow poster and scribe Nate Latsch.
  19. That is the case with most schools. I went to JUCO my first two years of college and got Ds but gained a degree. Several colleges including SLU accepted my degree and my standing that I was a junior but would not accept the couple classes I got a D in. I had to take those over to recieve credit in my major.
  20. I heard Frank discussing it with Floyd Irons. Can't hurt to talk about it. It adds to the thinking that Mizzou is a disjointed program, which is good, and it shows Jimmy that if indeed he wanted to transfer there would be support from SLU fans and area basketball fans in general.
  21. I didn't watch yesterdays game but it has been my experience that Jimmy is a pretty good defender. Most of the time he is the only tiger who will defend. I don't begrudge kids who transfer. While a committment was made they still are just kids. If a situation isn't working out or they are not ahppy it is their perrogative to choose to go to a different school or quit altogether.
  22. JJ is fine. He has to take those shots. When he came in no one was scoring. JJ was wide open, no one was guarding him at all. Basically Charlotte was saying we can play SLU 5 on 4 and no team can win that way.
  23. Although the FreeMasons are a defunct group essentially as it pertains world domination. The Rothschilds took over their organization before they brought down czarist Russia. These Wal-Mart guys have alot of money but that pales in comparison to people that poster alludes to. No one in the Wal-Mart family has been invited to join the Tri-Lateral Commission, Bilderbergers Society, or Skull and Bones. Wal-Mart is just a part of the system working within it, not in control of it.
  24. It doesn't. There should have been some note of sarcasm there on my part. sorry.
