  1. Why? I would argue there was no reason to give it him outside of that award. Team didn't like him. He was retired when we hired him to be a glorified part time asst. His last gig went horribly. His prime was 25 years earlier. He had no interest in recruiting. He had never coached at this high of a level. Sorry May had a little media pressure and caved. He lures in another veteran coach or gets a young guy that was available media forgets about Crews in a couple days. The players say they coached themselves or just ignored him. They had to, look at the results when he had control. He was fine for that one interim year but like it or not those teams underachieved. We should have made a sweet sixteen and Crews blew it. May should have moved on, told Crews that the COY award was a nice feather in his cap for his career but you can go back to Indiana. The worse part is Crews ran up his salary and May went along with it and gave it to him. Then when Crews inevitably crashed and burned we had to wait an extra year to fire him.
  2. There were some decent names angling for the SLU job. May didn't even do a single interview. Caved into the pressure to hire Crews. The team didn't like Crews and they hated his staff. Majerus' girlfriend could have coached the team just was well as Crews did. One overlooked aspect, a new coach would have surely sent Mcbroom packing before he ever stepped foot on the court.
  3. Bracket style.
  4. The only thing worse than Jolly's basketball abilities was Crews' coaching. Makes perfect sense that Crews would kick him off the team than play him 6 weeks later in the most important games of the season.
  5. There was zero reporting of Jolly being booted off the team. He didn't play for all of February, but he did play in the final 3 games of the season, inclduding both games of the A10 tourney.
  6. What team could possibly have a worse roster than this?
  7. No matter how tough the A10 schedule is, its not earning us an at large bid. Play the easiest schedule, win the most games, get the highest seed.
  8. Here is an updated video on that 1st grader. For all the posters who say we run off recruits, when we offer this kid we can let him know SLU fans were on him when he was 6.
  9. Awesome topic. I too went to games as an infant. Probably was 2 months old at my first game in the 79-80 season. I remember Luther Burden and Pee Wee as my favorite players but I don't really remember games until the 86-87 season. I have the ticket stub somewhere to the Bradley game on January 7th. It was the Grawer version of the SIUC or Washington game. It was a sellout crowd on a weeknight. As a kid I had no idea what was going on, there were a lot more people at Kiel than usual. Bradley was a big time opponent with Hersey Hawkins, but Roland outdueled him. Billikens went on an 18-4 run to close out that game and win by 2. 9000 fans in Kiel on their feet for the last 7 minutes of the game watching our comeback from down 12. Going down those ramps after the game as a kid with everyone screaming and yelling was something that I will never forget. It was the first big game I ever attended and unfortunately games like that have been few and far between in the nearly 40 years since then.
  10. Frazier would make a perfect triggerman for Schertz's system. Has to buy in defensively though.
  11. Barring catastrophic injury Bonner will be a NBA player. Schertz must win the recruiting battle for him.
  12. She was a HC at Cal St Northridge for a few seasons about 20 years. Was successful there. Never has had a HC position since but has a good resume for Low-Mid Major Asst. Her last HC was telling people to hire as HC before she took the Asst position at Wisconsin.
  13. I like this hire. Veteran coach who has led her own programs and knows how to recruit. She has a ton of overseas connections and also in the upper midwest. Cleveland St has become one of the best low major programs in the country under her watch. Recruited very successfully in the transfer portal.
  14. People do this in town sure, but St. Louis style is to grill then sauce. KC style is known for slow smoking and dry rubs.
  15. Pretty much. St. Louis style typically is known for the sauce, but also our distinct cuts of meat like st. louis style ribs and pork steaks, and St. Louis style BBQ is almost never smoked, the meat is cooked much quicker.
  16. Not concerned with the movement, although 3 staff members did leave. More that Tillet has had weeks to fill these positions, they quit months ago, and hasn't done so. Starting summer workouts with a half a staff. Maybe the daughter is going to be player/coach.
  17. Stu wrote today that Tillet still has multiple openings on her staff. WTF is going on?
  18. Out of that list of bigs there were several we should have kept. They weren't all a wash. It was the coaching staff that sent them packing or didn't develop them enough. Diakite is a step up from Pikaar. Staff views him as an unbelievable gift.
  19. Usually they have giveaway posters with a picture of the roster at the beginning of the season. I have several of these.
  20. Becton was from Memphis. He wasn't cutting it academically at SLU and went home to Memphis. He took off right when we hired Grawer.
  21. 05-06. We played our first home game and a conference game against UMass in St. Charles. The first bcause of a conflict with the circus, and the second a concert.
  22. We played at St. Charles Arena at least 3 times. Played UMass there once, the NIT game and another buy game like Eastern Illinois there.
  23. St. Louis preservationists want to save every building, no matter what significance to hinder progress, unless you give them money, than you can demolish and build whatever you please.
  24. Schertz is a free stater and supporting the liberty movement.
