Not so much for recent preseason tourneys:

2022: Lost to Maryland, beat Providence in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off.

    2021: Won the Cancun Challenge.

2020: Won the Billiken Classic (at home).

    2019: Won the Gotham Classic.

That's a good point.  Never been to a preseason tournament.  Also never seen the Billikens win on the road in person..........

I went through the tournament website that directs you to the Coastal Carolina ticketing page.   I already had an account because I went to a CCU baseball game this year so it was super easy.   My wife and I will be attending.  @Billiken Rich  You in?…

One of my buddies I work with lives literally across the street from that Publix.  She unfortunately did not win.

Too depressing to hit the road with the Billikens.....usually......

You will love Chapters 4 and 5.

    • Only 11% of voters can recall their state legislator's name
    • When asked if they could remember anything their state legislator has done for their district, 75% of voters said "no" or "don't know"
    • When asked to describe what they liked or disliked about their state legislative candidates, over 1/3 of voters could not say anything about either the Republican or Democratic candidate.

So......What's your solution?  Please tell me it's not some horrific bastardization of democracy like ranked choice voting.

I fully agree with what you are saying Steve. For example, in MO we have to vote to elect judges. I assume most voters know absolutely nothing about these judges decisions, they either vote for no judges at all, or vote for them according to party affiliation (if available).

We vote to RETAIN judges.  To be blunt and perhaps to feed into Steve's point I still think who appointed the judge should be listed on the ballot.  It would save me some time.

Sorry ..... 20 point game at Geedubya.  And me and Nick were there.  Dying in person.

I remember all of the calls to fire Majerus and go div III after that debacle.  I think every one will agree that that was the beginning of the end of coach Majerus' time here.

Are we just sweeping that loss at home under the rug?

Don't make light of it. It was the worst loss in the history of Billikens basketball. Heads should have rolled.

Outside of a sweet sixteen and multiple NCAA berths in a row, there is no way Ford can ever redeem himself. Its sad that we are just playing out the string this season, hoping to be a .500 team while waiting for a donor to step up and buyout Ford's contract.

Not sweeping it under the rug at all.  It was the worst loss in recent memory.  That and Thorpe's hiring do not make much difference to in recruiting Saint Louis.  By the way SLU losing to UMSL was way worse in the 80's.  At least SIUE is division 1........

It was a joke, No I’m not worried about siue and recruiting

Blue font it man..........if you were serious, it would not be the most depressing or venomous thing you've posted to this board in the last year........

Do you think this is how we get the next Beal or Tatum? By having local guys with zero connection to our school work out at SLU? It may be "cool" but thats the problem.

Say we are recruiting the next 4 or 5 star out of St. Louis. He's impressed that Beal plays on our campus when he's in town. What do you think an SEC coach is going to counter that with? Beal played for an SEC school. Didn't give SLU a second thought.

We are actively recruiting local players against SEC schools right now. Their coaches are lapping this up. "Hey kid you can always practice at SLU, but you play games in the SEC."

Is a big time school fawning over some player that didn't go there? No because they have their own NBA player alumni to tout. SLU act like you've been there. This isn't a move that a top 50 program makes.

Yeah that's why I told Rusty Wallace to go f himself when he showed up at my local mechanic.  The nerve of that guy!

I like the idea of SLU being where best St Louis area hoopers work out.  I like the idea of being one of the hubs of the local basketball community.  You never know who's watching.

    Absolutely GD right (as usual)

Thank God Tatum went to Duke. If he came here, we would have had to endure probably 3 more years of Crews. I don’t see where it’s a bad thing having two of the NBA’s biggest names and SLU’s only NBA player at the Fetz. In fact, I think a lot of kids would want to hear from JGood as to how to beat the odds.

    Well you're half right.....I guess that's something..........

  11. 3 hours ago, wgstl said:

I cant agree with this.  Crews doesnt all of a sudden become a good coach.  You likely dont see Has and Jgood.  All this would do is delay everything a few years

Delay what?  A coach you'd be ready to show the door to now instead of last year?

  12. When I say this is the dumbest non-issue of the summer, I think we know that is a big f-ing deal.  If a great local soccer or baseball payer dropped by the SLU campus, and was touted by anyone at the U, it would be the best day ever.  NBA-ers on campus cannot be a bad thing under almost any circumstances.  What the absolute F is wrong with this board?

I'd forgotten the Cards had Ozzie and for TWO seasons to boot. A whopping 11 hits and 3 rbi's for us. One season in Oakland and two here (92, 93), and never hit a single home run. A career WAR of -0.6 for you WARriors scoring at home.

    God, those were exciting times!

My favorite line ever that became an inside joke for my family for years was Ossie saying, "I've got to do what's right, for Ossie Conseco."
