I am just wondering...

Where is the A10 tournament held? Do they rotate like CUSA does or is it in a fixed location?

Also, just comments on us probably going to the A10. I personally think it is a step down from LAST year, but not this upcoming year.

Not getting to play Louisville and Cincy twice I think is a huge loss. And now we have to play the likes of TCU, yuck. Also, if the A10 really does cut the fat, and I wouldn't be surprised if GW was some of that fat, I think it is pretty much neutral.

But I agree with Nark and Law that I think if SLU was in Chicago, and got Depaul's invite, they would have taken it in a heartbeat.

Here is a question, what will happen to CUSA-Talk.com?

Steve, it will be a piece of cake for you to get to Philly from DC (and relatively cheap). Take the metro stop right on your campus to Union Station in DC, then get on a Amtrak train to Philly. Unlike the Union Station in STL, the one in DC (a few blocks from the capital) is still a working train station. That would be a great road trip for a college guy. The only question is whether you could find some fellow Colonials willing to go to Philly for the A10 tourney (as I understand they don't support their team very well). Too bad Mike Jarvis left for St. John's. That guy is a recruiting machine.

Yep, public transportation is pretty good around here. Plus I absolutely love that DC has an ESPNSportszone. Yesterday, I went with a friend (also from Missouri, but Columbia Missouri...grumble...) to watch the Rams game, and it was amazing. I had the best burger I have had since I got here, plus from my table, if I ever needed to see the game. I could look in any direction. 6 TVs had the Rams game on, and the Skins were playing at the same time. It was simply amazing!

lol, it was not cheap, but I have been frugral like no tomorrow, so I splurged (well I have been frugal on food, I have had a few bad nights at the poker table). But is a tremendous place for an out of town fan.

Too bad they don't have one of those in Saint Louis. I think if we ever get an NBA team there would be enough professional sports dates on the calendar to justify one. As it stands, there are still a ton of events downtown. I wonder how they determine where to put the ESPN Zones?

I was at the Rams game and it was a long obnoxious walk to the car after the loss. I was sitting in the NE corner right by the end zone where all the action was. Great game, bad ending!!

You are right. A-10 switched to a rotation basis last year and the tourney was in Dayton for the first time last year. The tournament will be in Dayton again this year and future sites include Cincy and Philly.

I apologize for the misinformation but I forgot about the change.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of national chain, theme restaurants. We already have Planet Hollywood (on the west side of landing, very close to doom) and Hard Rock Cafe (union station). They are novel the first time or two but then it is just over-priced glitz. Given the size of our city, I'm not sure there is room for another mega theme restaurant downtown ... However, I agree that there should be some big sports restaurant very close to the dome and there currently is not. I think the larger bar at the Adams Mark may be the closest sports bar to the dome at present. At one time several years ago there was a large, well set up sports bar on the ground floor of St. Louis Centre (the ugly interior mall right next to the convention center). It closed in less than a year.

The A-10 tourney was in Dayton last year and it is, I think, back there again this year. They gave it Dayton much like the old conferences did back when we were all together (MCC I think or was it GMC) because there is so much to do in Dayton in March that 11,000 people will still come and see #64 play #65 that they will even come to see Fordham and Duquesne play as well. Again, money, baby, money.

They used to play all the time in Philly because I think Temple's greatness had a lot to do with that but if Temple or St. Joe's wasn't in the final, the house was empty at the Spectrum. They didn't play at the new Apollo at Temple Arena (you don't want to go to that part of town anyway) and St. Joe's plays in like a 2,000 seat bandbox. And as noted, LaSalle hasn't had a real team since Billy Taylor back in the early 70's.

Oh, to answer your question, I'm up for Philly anytime ... take the train from Union Station and get off at either Edgewood or Aberdeen. I'll pick you up there and off we go!

Baltimore has a Zone ... and a HardRock .... and a Planet Hollywood ... and a Hooters .... but I go each Sunday to the Aberdeen Proving Ground Golf Course ..... right now we tee off at 8:00 and get in in time for lunch (much cheaper but just as good) and beer (dollar a draft with 6 buck pitchers of ....gee .... Mick Light) and every game available due to the NFL package.

Other options in Harford County, Maryland, include DuClaw's Brewing Company, Looney's North, Torino's and Yogi's. What's so great about the Zone if all you want is the game? Looney's had all the Bills games in the CUSA tourney last year. I'm quite content.

>Chicago has a SportsZone, it's Disneyland for adults, IMHO.

>And the food isn't too expensive and is good too. I love

>going there.

It is Disneyland for adults. I've been to ESPN Zones in Chicago, Washington D.C. and the original at Disney World in Orlando. I also saw the one in Baltimore but didn't go there. It is one of my favorite places to eat when I am out of town.

I would love for St. Louis to develop a place like that.
