billionaire oklahoma state alumnus boone pickens will donate 165 million dolars to help osu build an athletic village near boone pickens stadium and just north of lthe campus.

pickens donation is the largest single gift ever given to an ncaa collegiate athletic program. the money will be used to complete the upgrade of the football stadium and pay for a proposed 20- year plan that includes an indoor practice facility for football, baseball, track and other sports.

the plan also calls for better facilities for track, tennis and soccer and for a new research building, a n new classroom building and updating of other academic facilities.

pickens graduated in 1951 from osu with a degree in geology.

this is taken from an ap wire story.

The Brick Program was a success and still is since purchases are still coming in. It raised well over $700,000 as reported by the University. That is a tidy sum that probably would not have come in from many without some kind of motivational tool like the Brick Program. Now no name calling - I am only trying to be rational.

If the Appelby deal falls through do you think that Laurie will give the Savvis to SLU; he did something big like that for Mi$$ou and they are way

over in Columbia. In exchange we could all sign promissory notes saying we promise to leave in time for the center to be cleaned for Blues games; did anyone else notice that when the Blues were not playing the Savvis did

not bother to clean between Billiken games?

Geology = oil & gas

T. Boone Pickens = renowned oil tycoon, struck it rich for himself

On the other hand, gister, a geophysicist(same business at one time) struck it rich for somebody else, as in Mobil Oil. If only.....

Oh yes, then there is that rich geophysicist over in Wichita, a former SLU All American, that's in some kind of legal/financial trouble.
