Major Majerus
Of course, he couldn't have done that against (fill in the blank of a CUSA team.):+
Whatsasaluki
Agreed, probably would have been closer to 25. tseugnekillib
Matt Shaw did have a great game against Indiana State. I'm sure Matt was glad to make up for his two point performance against Drake on Monday. Having the opportunity to watch MS play a couple dozens high school and AAU games, I enjoy following his college progress. Here's Matt's rebounds/points per game since the start of his freshman season: 2/7, 0/2, 3/2, 1/2, 0/6, 2/3, 3/6, 3/6, 4/8, 3/4, 3/4, 0/0, 2/2, 0/7, 7/4, 0/0, 2/0, 4/6, 2/12, 3/6, 3/9, 4/10, 5/2 and 10/22. It seems as if it takes the typical freshman (Matt, DP, LM, DB) between 18 to 20 games to adjust to the college game. If Matt Shaw would have been 2-3 inches taller, I think one of the top conferences (ACC, BigEast, Big10, Big12, SEC, PAC10, C-USA) may have offered him a scholarship. Matt will have a solid career at SIU-C.
SIUSalukis
Stanford offered, and he made an official visit out there.
kshoe
I've got nothing against the Valley and probably respect it more than most people on this board but you really aren't "proving" the Valley's superiority with a look at this years RPI. If the same pattern was true over 10 years then you would be making a very good point.
kshoe
Doesn't Stanford have weird rules about a player having to be admitted to school before he can officialy be offered a scholly? Regardless, they were obviously interested and SLU definitely offered and would be considerably better off if he had accepted. I wish him well. tseugnekillib
No reasonable student-athlete would turn down a Stanford scholarship to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. And I'm a graduate of SIU!
SIUSalukis
>Doesn't Stanford have weird rules about a player having to >be admitted to school before he can officialy be offered a >scholly? He did have an offer from Stanford, so if he had to apply to the school, thats what he did. He's a very smart young man. Obviously, that's why he chose SIU. Billiken Rich
Your defensiveness is unbecoming. There are few here that disrespect SIU-C. There are more who disrespect the Valley, more for the location of the schools rather than the schools themselves.

cheeseman
Saluki - you act like people on this board have attacked Matt Shaw. To the contray - most wanted him so why point out that he scored 22 pts - we did offer him unlike Ahern. He just decided to got SIUC - good for you and not for us. Major Majerus
My statement was tongue in cheek, and I suspect the response was also.
Major Majerus
I started the thread. I'm a big fan of Matt and expect he would have a good career wherever he went. IMO we didn't go after him hard enough because we were worried about his size in inches and forgot about the size of his heart.
