STLBlazer
Are there are free parking lots near the arena within a reasonable walking distance or do you have to pay for parking? I'm thinking about coming to the game tonight but I hate paying for parking everywhere I go in this city. Thanks.
CentFLBilliken
$5-10 depending how far you want to walk.
BillikenButch
If you get lucky, there can be street spots found north of Market with 2-3 blocks.
Iggy
There's a little pub 2 blocks north of Savvis called "Kellie O'Toole's". It's at 14th & Pine. There are plenty of meters in the area that you need to feed until 7:00pm. They're free on Saturday games. It's a great place for a cold beverage before and after the games. thetorch
Most likely there will be free parking on the street. After 6 pm you do not have to for the meter in the city. There are always places on Tucker near market, in the park just to the west of there and places on Locust and Olive from 17th street down to Tucker. It is rare that all the street spots are taken so early in the season especilally if you get to the game 15-20 minutes early.
bonwich
Street meters must be plugged until ***7 PM***. The City runs a cottage industry preying upon folks who arrive early for Savvis events and failing to feed the meters until 7 p.m. I'd also note that street parking on Saturdays MAY OR MAY NOT be free. There's a conflict between City ordinances and what the Parking Czar has said about making parking free on Saturday, and there have been several anecdotal reports of ticketing on meters on Saturday. That said, to answer the original question: There are meter spots on Chestnut, one block north of Market, from 20th to Tucker. There are also meter spots on Pine, two blocks north (behind the Soldiers Memorial) and on Olive, the street the public library is on. There is also meter parking on all the N-S streets from Tucker to 20th. Billiken fans park on all of these streets for every game. On Saturdays, as of last year, the north side of Chestnut, adjacent to the Plaza Square Apartments, is legal and free parking. (It's a No Parking zone M-F). mws26
I don't know if they do it for SLU games, but certain bars downtown provide shuttles to Blues and Cards games -- Syberg's, Panama Reds. I think they may charge $1 for the shuttle but parking is free at the bars. Also, Maggie's has a free lot (at least it used to be) that you could probably use if you grab a beer there before the game.
davidnark
The attached parking garage is $6 this season.
NashvilleBilliken
I always used to park on the street a block or two west of Union Station. I never had a problem parking there and it saved this poor college student some good money back then. It was a little bit of a walk, but it was always FREE! (except the one saturday I didn't know the meters were on)
STLBlazer
It looks like I'll be attending your game tonight. Need to do some scouting for our game in January. [http://uabganggreen.com/images/index_08.gif]
