We had 3 key players down with injuries and I was very worried you would take advantage of it and beat us. The officiating was horrible on both ends but that's the way it's been all season long across CUSA. That Polk kid is freakin' fast! He took off on a break and our guard Squeaky, who is very fast himself, went after him but never gained any ground. I hope you can finally get that arena built. It will really help your game atmosphere.

The problem is that he committs silly fouls and is normally on the bench for most of the game because he is in foul trouble. It's been very frustrating to watch him become such a good offensive player yet we can't get his full potential with him in foul trouble or with injuries.

Should be interesting. We suck bad right now. Can't hit a FT and everyone on our team down to the equipment manager is injured.

Regardless of what the score was at a certain time. We outscored Marquette 50-6 in the paint, forced 22 turnovers but only committed 5, and had 13 steals. Yep..domination.

Yes, we have been hot and cold. We destroyed Marquette last night in Wisconsin, 86-63 and are 6-2 right now in CUSA play. We have a ton of talent but we lack a 4th yr or 5th senior like we had last year. That was evident in our close losses to teams we should've easily beat like USC, Tulane, and Charlotte. We lost 2 games at the buzzer to USC and Tulane and then blew the Charlotte game with 1:58 left in the game. It's been tough for everyone to get used to their new roles but they are coming along. We are 16-5 (6-2) right now and our next game is Saturday against Louisville in Birmingham. You can watch it on ESPN2. IMO, the biggest disappointment this season has been our 3pt defense. We are still forcing 22 turnovers a game and we lead the nation in steals per game with about 13 pg but our 3pt defense is just awful, unlike the past two seasons. I'm looking forward to our game in 3 weeks. It will be nice to not have to drive 7 hours or spend $200 on a plane ticket to just go see a game.

Did the food prices go up since the NHL lock-out? I went to your game against Marquette and paid $12+ for a chicken finger basket and a bottle of water. I went to the Dallas Mavericks vs Miami Heat game last night in Dallas and paid a lot less for food there at the American Airlines Arena.

ESPN Classic is now televising the SLU vs UAB game and supposedly the game has either been moved or tipoff will be at a different time. I'm waiting on our southern announcers to get to the freakin' point and just say when the date of the game is. I'll keep you guys posted but the game will definitely be televised.

Bill, 48, married one of the richest humans on the planet: Nancy Walton, daughter of Bud Walton, cofounder of Wal-Mart, is listed by Forbes as the 129th wealthiest person in the country, worth $2 billion. Not bad, yes? Well, Stan, 53, married Ann Walton, Nancy's older sister, and Ann is even better off than Nancy -- the 87th richest person in the country -- at $2.8 billion. Stan 2, Bill 0. Bill loves Missouri football and is one of the Tigers' biggest donors, though the team hasn't won a conference championship since 1969. I read an article that spoke about the competition between Bill Laurie and Stan Kroenke. It said that tension was so bad between the two that they don't even speak at Mizzou games. Maybe Kroenke has enough influence that he is keeping Laurie from buying an NBA team.

What has Bill Laurie done besides spend his wife's money wisely? Sure, he's made some pretty good investments with what he has been given through marrying into the WEALTHIEST family in the world but if he did it w/o her help and funds it would be something to brag about.

For PR sakes he "withdrew his name" yesterday and also refused an on-campus interview at Auburn earlier this week. It was a weird situation.

Will be okay after a few years. Several teams have already stepped up and hired new coaches, pretty good ones at that: 1. Houston - Tom Penders 2. SMU - Jimmy Tubbs 3. Southern Miss - Larry Eustachy (everyone deserves a second chance) ...then you have 4. UCF - NCAA 2004 5. UAB - Sweet 16 2004 6. Memphis - NCAA 2004 7. Tulsa - always good but had an off year Now that those schools have stepped up I honestly believe the others will follow suit. CUSA as it is now wasn't given much of a chance to begin with and unfortunately we are just now seeing what it is capable of doing. Every team CUSA loses, with the exception of USF, is good at basketball and has a strong program. It will be hard to replace it but we will be okay in the long run.

Why should Anderson put himself in this situation: 1. Basketball is definitely not king at AU 2. AU is currently on ACADEMIC probation and is about to be hit HARD with athletic probation 3. AU's basketball program doesn't have the tradition nor success that UAB's has had/have 4. AU is in a small country town 5. Trustees run the show down there and show no loyalty to employees (see Tubberville) 6. Auburn still won't be able to compete with Kentucky, Miss St in basketball Positives for UAB: 1. Returning players 2. Sweet 16 momentum 3. Basketball reigns at UAB 4. No probation 5. What's good for UAB is good for Bham. Anderson can become a powerful man in Birmingham if he were to stay 6. UAB is willing to offer up to $750,000 yr which is quite a bit for a second year head coach 7. UAB isn't run by its trustees 8. UAB has a president and an AD....Auburn has interim at both positions 9. He's from Birmingham and has family there 10. There could be serious backlash from political/corporate power in Bham if he were to leave UAB 11. His chances of dominating in CUSA are much better than his chances of dominating the SEC at Auburn and if he were to dominate at AU then nobody would care

College is overrated. Go buy a new Corvette with that money.

and can honestly say I have never experienced anything like that since being a UAB fan (only 5 years). Yes, there are many rumors about Coach Anderson and him leaving for more $$. What people need to realize is that money is nice but it sure as heck isn't everything. Auburn is out of the question for several reasons: 1. Coach Anderson is from Birmingham, grew up there, and has A LOT of family there 2. Basketball drives UAB athletics, unlike at Auburn where it plays a distant second fiddle to football 3. Auburn is in ALL SORTS OF TROUBLE...academically and with athletics 4. We already have a new package worked out for Coach Anderson 5. He doesn't want to leave a job unfinished 6. This is only his second year at UAB and with a young family I'm not sure he wants to uproot them this soon 7. He has yet to coach a team with a roster full of players that he recruited. Moving to a new job will set him at least 2 years back in acheiving that goal. Sure, he'll get offers but he's going to be at UAB for a few more years. The only way I see him is if he feels that he can't take UAB any further. We're worried, as most would be, but I'm confident we have the situation under control to compensate him for the job he's done and for the job he's now expected to do.

I watched the first 15 minutes of the game and it looked as if you were in for a VERY long night. Your team looked very rattled on offense and then couldn't do anything to stop Iowa's offense. Glad to see that all changed. What a clutch shot! Congrats. PS. That damn trapezoid lane was an eyesore.

I think it's pretty funny that the SLU band started playing "Rocky Top" to piss off the Memphis fans. Man, they are livid about that happening! Personally, I think it's hilarious and awesome to see a band get into the "heckling." UAB's band won't do crap that is funny or taunting.

It's so freakin' frustrating because we should and could be #1 in this league if we would take our heads out of our butts. I swear, they try to get cute and play along because they think they can just make runs on everybody in the 2nd half. I love my team but they piss me off because they underachieve.
