Bill_Ken R
Good for the A-10, and thus the Billikens.
Bay Area Billiken
Also in the NIT, Washington 90 Oregon 86. Thus, Lorenzo Romar's Washington Huskies (24-10), the Pac-12 Regular Season Champions, and SLU opponents this season and next, join UMass in the NIT Final 4 at MSG in NYC. Billboy1
While it would be great to still be playing-the NCAA Tourney is priceless.
Bay Area Billiken
While it would be great to still be playing-the NCAA Tourney is priceless. Agreed. The NIT (Not In Tournament, aka the Sock Hop) pales in comparison to the NCAA (Big Dance). Stanford drew 1,700 at home Monday night in the NIT vs. Illinois State. However, Tennessee drew 12,000 for Middle Tennessee, and Washington drew over 9,000 for Oregon.
Box and Won
I actually had a co-worker try to convince me that winning the NIT is better than losing in the first round of the NCAA tournament. I should have asked him if he went to Dayton.
billiken_roy
i used to think that way back in the bonner days, but the cash payday alone is so overwhelmingly better there is no comparison. the ncaa tourney is better. if that co-worker tries to tell you something about the priceless exposure of winning the nit, ask him who won the the nit the last two years. i am betting he doesnt know. i dont know. Taj79
I think it was Dayton two years ago. Last year, Wichita State. I know about Wichita because I heard it mentioned in their Bracket Buster game a few weeks back. I am less certain on Dayton although I'm pretty sure that was the last brick in the SVU wall, designating them "elite" status.
