He walked

I hate complaining about the refs, but that was a walk. Atrocious.

That was a pretty fun game though, most fun I've had in a while actually. Lot of kinks to work out for the frosh, but I think we'll be competitive most games.

I probbaly wouldn't have called a walk on that play but it was close. However, I just saw the replay of the drive at the end of regulation on channel 4 where he crashed into Barry for the bucket and foul...it was a CHARGE. Barry was standing there clear as day when he barreled into him.

At the end of the day, this game was not on the refs. It was a terrific game and there were lots of positives for the Bills (including Conklin with some very clutch fts), but this game belonged to Al Fischer. He was terrific. Gotta wonder why we didn't try something different on him defensively.

On a literal basis, I have to disagree. At the end of the day, the refs threw the game. That guy took four or five steps, blatantly (if you look at the video, he almost walked to begin with, but then he landed with another step) and they let it go. Call the rules, another overtime. Yes, we had it to win with 14.5 left in regulation. But that's no excuse for turning a blind eye to an obvious travel just because the guy has 30-some points.

Just looked at the GameCast. Fischer scored 27 of his teams final 28 points, including 16 of 17 in OT. I don't ever remember someone so single-handedly taking over a game like that. It was unreal.

Clearly a body control foul on that and-1 play involving Barry.

the refs were as bad as we have ever had. two standards without a doubt. that kent state team was as physical as any team we have maybe ever played. more grabbing, pushing, pulling than any team and definitely more than us. by letting them get away with most of that all night long, it changed the game. and that is what refs should never do is change a game. especially when they called it against us when we pretty much played it straight up.

the last play was indeed a travel. but no ref is going to blow his whistle in the last 10 seconds. the play we screwed up on was the previous possession. fisher should have been fouled as soon as he came across the half line. he was in that kind of a zone that i didnt want him shooting period. i'd rather let the blue crew defend him at the foul line.

i also thought eberhardt took a good charge. another horrible call.

that team was beatable. they were good, but they dont have the inside players to go deep in the ncaa tourney imo. take fisher's dream 8 minutes away, have three refs that call it both ways, and we win that game going away.

i sincerely hope we never hire those three guys again. they were that bad imo.

Roy, we'll at least see Mike Kitts again (older taller grey hair). He did several of our A-10 games last year. I am not a fan of his and he isn't a fan of mine either.

He has also been a guy who stirs things up. I may have posted this before...

"After Huggins was ejected from the game by official Mike Kitts, Machock also was asked to leave for comments he made to Kitts off the air. He was escorted out of the building.

"The official came to the (scorer's) table and asked that he be removed," tournament director Steve Pyne said. "He indicated there was some vulgar language directed at him."

Refs were one thing but my beef is with the SLU marketing dept or whatever dept that pulls together the entertainment.

1) Is it me or does it seem like they do not test out the games during timeouts to see if they will actually work?

2) Did the Saintsations actually time their one dance routine to make sure they didn't run over a timeout?

3) Can we get a girl and guy that don't screech into the microphone? Did that guy take a blow of helium everytime he spoke or what?

4) The intro is lame in my opinion and too freakin long. Do they get the players input?

5) Have they not figured out that most people they pick from the stands can't hit a half court shot? At least make it somewhat achievable.

Sorry for the rant.... we may be a D1 b-ball program, but our "entertainment" at the game is middle school at best.

kitts gave you guys the second look twice when you didnt stop playing right at the inbound. i thought for sure the band's second technical in history was close.

I would NOT have been surprised had he warned us, and we really weren't out of line at any point last night in playing over.

It's not even a half court shot. I think it was mid season last year before anyone even hit the backboard. Everytime I see that, I think where the hell do they get these guys from, most of them look like it's the first time they've held a basketball in 30 years. I've seen probably 25 guys shoot it and maybe 1 be anything but horrible. Seriously, at 47 years old I can hit the rim 2 of 3 from where they shoot. I know the people who run the halftime events if they are the same ones who run the ladies events .... hmmm, I need to see what it'll take to get selected.

i was told last year that you have to sign up to get picked to shoot the half court shot and they draw the shooter out of the box. i have no idea where the sign up box is at this year. i havent been able to get to any of the three games early enough to scout around yet at a game basically walking in right before pregame intros.

anyway, if true you have to sign up to get picked, so then the question is, why the hell would you sign up if you couldnt get the ball to the lane let alone the rim? that girl last night couldnt have hit the rim if someone teed it up and she tried to kick it up there.

the guy last week was weak as well. not even close. and after one toss and you realize it is a hell of a lot further than you might have expected, why would you think you would gain 10 more yards just because? it might be time to switch to a baseball throw on the second and third try.

I bet my life that I could hit the backboard 1 out of 3, sitting on my ass from the opposite top of the key. Dead serious. I mean that muscle memory is not going to go away. You either never could do it, or you've got some kind of palsy. No excuse for not coming close on that shot.
