davidnark
The primary reason Brad's interim title at Wisconsin didn't become a permanent title was because Wisconsin thought Majerus was going to take the job.
swenson
That is simply not true. Brad was gone either way.
Milwaukee Billiken
Along those same lines, we all still have to remember that if for any reason Tom Crean leaves Marquette, the job will be waiting for Majerus and he will take it. Crean is signed through 2016-'17.
brianstl
There will be a significant buy out clause in the deal that will make it next to impossible for that to happen, from what I have been told. This is his last stop.
courtside
Brad was definitely gone either way at Madison. Crean isn't going anywhere any time soon. This is it for Majerus.
slu72
Agreed on Brad at UW. I know a well connected alum from UW. He told me when UB was hired at SLU we'd regret it. Good guy and everything but UW people never thought of him as a big program HC. There's got to be some truth in that as no one was knocking on his door offering HC positions after his dismissal at UW.

Clock_Tower
Don't be so sure. You fired him once before and have had coaching openings over the last few years. Can't recall anyone ever being fired and then rehired. Since you are certain, please cite us examples of others who have been fired and rehired. While you're at it, please give us an idea as to your sources. Even so, at 59 and with health concerns now, then a few years here, why would you want him then? swenson
The opinions varied on Brad in Madison. He was placed in a very difficult situation with Dick Bennett quiting in season. This even took Brad by surprise. There were high expectations for the team. There were many issues behind the decision on Brad in Madison. Among them is the AD did not want it dictated to him who his new coach would be. Like many ADs he wanted his own man in place. That being said it would have been interesting to see what Brad could have done with a reasonable amount of support at SLU. Maybe he should have demanded more? Of course he was in no position to do so. As a long time Badger fan I can tell the change for UW athletics occurred when those on the top decided to make a commitment to having a top notch athletic dept. Very few coaches can pull programs out of the cellar without the full support of the universities chancellor and athletic director. The demands Majerus has made for changes SLU will help whether or not he takes the job. The new arena is great first step. But that is all it will be if it is not followed by a complete and funded commitment to the program from the very top. Majerus could recognize the program was doomed to mediocrity without the changes.
