dewey33
It looked like UD Arena was loud and rockin Saturday night, that had to give Dayton an edge late in the game and in overtime... The Dayton paper has a cool "were you spotted at the Flyers game?" promotion, it looks like some people walk around at the game shooting candid fan photos...very cool. http://www.daytondailynews.com/p/content/g...307ybsudbb.html The 2 things I noticed by the pics that is different from SLU: 1-There is alot of young families at the game, which I think will continue to build its fan base. 2-There is a ton of really nice Dayton gear, jerseys, sweatshirts, etc. Everyone is wearing it kids, parents, grandparents, etc. Hopefully our new arena will provide us with a home-court advantage similar to Dayton's. kevinfootes
Wow, an exciting atmosphere for a mediocre team who doesn't play on campus. How can that be possible?!?!?!?!?! Most SLU fans would never believe it.
dewey33
it is a few blocks from campus....and the parking is not as expensive as Scottrade
davidnark
Plus, Dayton is the only show in town, and most of the town's residents have someone in their family who has worked or gone to school at Dayton. It is a totally different circumstance.
Band Legend
I've never paid to park at a Billikens game. There is abundant free parking within an eight block radius of Scottrade.
Box and Won
I'm surprised there were so few pictures of fans wearing sweater vests. When 70% of the crowd is wearing sweater vests, you have to work hard to find fans wearing anything else. There was a nice shot of a girl working at the stand that sells sweater vests though. Basketbill
I hate the camera angle for the Dayton games at their arena. I sure hope any TV from the 'fetz, has better and camera angles. There is just no perspective on shots.
dewey33
its so funny, how these sit on your a$$ fans from the Scottrade mausoleum can be so arrogant.....no one at SLU games wears much for apparel, and the dayton arena is louder 45 minutes before game while the team is warming up than SLU's arena is at any time during the game
dewey33
wooooooooo, walk eight blocks in the middle of winter!!!!! NOW THATS FAN FRIENDLY!

billiken_roy
davidnark is right. footes, if dayton had a rams, blues and cardinals in town diluting the casual fan sports dollar and still had that crowd, your point would be well taken. dewey33
our crowds are similarly sized....theirs has much more energy...understand when to "bring it" and are less concerned with complaining at the refs

kevinfootes
So you think Cards, Rams, Blues keep SLU students from traveling just about the same distance that Dayton students have to travel? You think people in St. Louis don't have ties to SLU? SLU students are lazy and don't care much about basketball (band and Blue Crew excepted). Clock_Tower
UD arena may not be "on campus" however it is very close to campus which has been and is expanding toward it. Not only is it much closer to campus than SLU (more similar to the distance of a large public university from one end of campus to the other) but the team practices there, trains there, lifts weights there, coaches offices there, etc. You're comment is misleading.
