The first time I watched him I also thought he was kind of slow. After watching several games I became very impressed. He has game. Total all around player.
When you've got a 6'10" guy who can pass well, and hit 40% of his 3s, I'm all in.

This guy hasn't seen a movie since Grease.
If ‘Grease’ is the last movie someone ever sees, it’s not a bad pick.

Dick Vitale is the backup option.

I would’ve been happy with Ben McCollum, but he’s off the board. If it’s not Shertz, I’m worried.

Travis’ do nothing no purpose clock eating weave handcuffed guys like TJ and Gibby from fully showing off their skills. TJ, because of his ability to sky, rarely got screens to shake his defender and get more layups and jams. Gibby got virtually no help either from screeners or inside out passes. After 8 years of watching Ford’s offense I still saw no rhyme or reason to it. It’s hard to understand how a guy who likely grew up with a basketball in his hands everyday never grasped the basic X’s and O’s.
That freakin’ Globetrotter weave frustrated me to no end. I remember mentioning this, two seasons ago, and having another poster tell me that I “didn’t understand the college game.”

I want Schertz. But, if he gets an extra $1 million a year from Louisville, I’m okay with it.
As long as we use the buyout money on some players, and bring in McCollum.

I'm hoping Gibby will return, especially with the positive vibes that the new coach is already cultivating. If he gets the cash, I think he stays.

Didn't under value yourself Thunder Dan. You're my nominee for Billikens.com teacher of the year. Sign Guy won it the last few years.
I always just imagined you were a member of the Thunder from Down Under performance troupe just working at the Excalibur Hotel in Vegas.
That's my summer gig.

Ummm, how should I feel, given that I've never won one of these...?
It's coming. Everyone gets one.

I imagine it’s similar to winning ‘Teacher of the Year,’ in the education field.
I won the award, for my building, in my 3rd year of teaching. I was super pumped, and proud that my hard work was being recognized.
But after seeing the nimrods that won the award, the next few years, I realized that it’s just an award that’s passed around like a bong. You weren’t allowed to win it twice, so everyone eventually got the ‘honor.’ It meant nothing.

Disappointed, but it totally makes sense. His stock rose as the year went on. Dude showed a lot of promise. And Cian has no idea who his coach will be next year.
A lot of posters have said that they hope we could bring in a starting point guard, and have Cian come off the bench next year. Why would he want to do that, after starting all year??

I’ll admit that I have absolutely zero consistency in my opinion of Sincere.
At the start of the year, I was pumped to see his scoring ability unleashed. But, he is such a selfish player, that I wasn’t too upset when he got hurt (the first time).
THEN, when I saw how anemic our offense was without him, I badly wanted him to get healthy. He came back, and we still sucked.
I thought a dynamic scorer would take defensive pressure away from Jimerson, but Parker isn’t that kind of player. He’s tough to stop, but doesn’t open up opportunities for his teammates in the process.

A10 only got 2 because Dayton stumbled in the tourney. If Dayton won the A10 tourney, it would have been a one bid league. If Duq was the team that shoved ISU out, as potentially pointed out by @The Wiz’s computer, then could Dayton winning the A10 tournament have gotten ISU in?
The real truth for both leagues is that Dayton was the only team in both leagues good enough to lose their conference tournament and still make it in. That was the margin of difference between the MVC and the A10. Not a very large difference.
AND, if Duquesne making the tournament DID force Indiana St. out (and Scherz becomes our coach as a result), do we owe the Dukes a fruit basket?

I wholeheartedly agree with this take. If a coach is here for three years and then gets plucked by a P6 school, he will have raised the profile of the program in general and the prestige of the position of head coach at SLU.
I dont need a Coach to claim SLU is his destination job. It’s a disingenuous statement to begin with, and sounds a bit too “comfortable” for my liking. So true. Travis Ford would have stayed here forever, if he was allowed to.

I love taking the train to Chicago. And, if you book early, it’s only $20-25.
