  1. Off the bat it seems like Fordham just out-hired DePaul.
  2. DJ seems well poised to follow the Miles Reynolds/Jalen Johnson path to post-SLU success, start at a smaller program then contribute at a larger program.
  3. DJ really went off a handful of times. Which was sort of unexpected, but not surprising, if that makes any sense. Always fun to watch whenever that happened.
  4. Sounds promising. A potential step in the right direction for Fordham.
  5. Zero interest in Iona. We have two former MAAC members in the A10, Fordham and LaSalle. The results speak for themselves.
  6. The last time Romar took Pepperdine to a tournament he got plucked out of there by an elite midwestern outfit.
  7. He must have had a good rapport with Haith who he played for his senior year and gave him his first coaching job.
  8. Which guys decided to leave before their senior year because Crews was hired?
  9. Because the Romar era was such a resounding success for SLU? I wouldn't rank youth or charisma as good indicators of future coaching success. Enthusiasm is certainly important, but a coach can be enthusiastic at any age. We've have more NCAA Tournament bids, have played in more NCAA Tournament games, and have more NCAA Tournament wins under Chris May than any other AD in school history.
  10. Barry Hinson is currently an "Analyst" at Oklahoma State. Dayton has a "Special Assistant to the Head Coach & Recruiting Coordinator". The "Director of Basketball Operations" role can be a former/experienced coach. UNC even has an "Assistant Director of Operations". Plenty of opportunities for adding experience without technically add a coach.
  11. A little OT, but I wouldn't exactly object to Ford taking advantage of the coaching carousel to bolster his staff. The Ford Stuen promotion seemed OK given the circumstances (Covid), but he just doesn't bring the same experience or presence as a Van Macon or Will Bailey - guys that can fill a mentor role. Or alternatively, Michael Wilson was promoted to Head of Basketball Operations in '19-'20. Again, fine. But makes me think of Barry Hinson being head of Basketball Operations at Kansas and how that role can be used somewhat creatively to bring in additional experience/expertise. Not to pick on those guys or that they don't work hard or anything. Just seems like there could be an opportunity to shake things up a bit and add some resources on the staff side.
  12. Wasn't expecting the highlight of the JGood and French tenure to be in 2019.
  13. Wow. Presenting the board's deeply appreciated moderator with ultimatums. That's bold.
  14. Being truly, consistently in the top 4 sounds pretty good. Call the A10 a 2.5 bid conference, that'd be 5 trips to the dance every 8 years (and the NIT the other 3). That level of consistency (and tournament dollar$) should garner some attention.
  15. Maybe easier would be for just SLU to join the AAC as its 12th school and counterbalance to basketball-only Wichita St. The AAC expands its media footprint, adds a meaningful and competitive regional rival and gets to keep all of its precious football money.
  16. I don't understand the "everything remains the same" approach to other sports. What becomes of all of the A10 school's football programs? The AAC wants nothing to do with them, but I don't see UMass, Dayton, Richmond, etc... joining a new conference (which is a football conference) that completely ignores their football programs.
  17. Totally agree. Either would be a very encouraging hires in terms of the direction of the Fordham program.
  18. I don't love that we're the only match-up in the NIT whose elite 8 opponent will have had 3 days of rest. The organizers kind of screwed that up. The date/time of Memphis-Dayton could have been swapped with Toledo-Richmond to keep everything closer.
  19. Would not mind if this year starts a trend of the NIT Final Four not always being at MSG and maybe it expanding beyond just the Final Four to more of the tournament (maybe Sweet 16) being played in a host city. St. Louis would be a great host and the NIT feels like an appropriate follow-up to Arch Madness.
  20. Jalen Johnson is also pretty consistent from 3.
