Let Duke give him a job. Tatum is a Duke name now. No thanks.
Yeah. Great take. Remember when the Tarheels disowned the Jordan family because Marcus Jordan played for UCF? Me neither.

Tatum wasn't even 3 when Justin quit playing for SLU. Justin was no fan of SLU when he left or much of the time he played here. I don't know about this timeline.
Dude, Jayson was a toddler but he was always there at the Savvis Center.
Can't say the same for most of the students at the time.

Again, I was hardly criticizing Vice, just defending SLU fans who shouldn't have to apologize for poking a little fun at him. Why would we want him to do well at his next stop? Just to make Ford look bad? You almost seem disappointed that Vice is redshirting and not making an impact as a freshman.
Kids backing out of commitments is very common these days. It should not be considered a knock on our "coach/program" in this instance. Why did it happen? Seems pretty simple. An assistant left for another job - again VERY commonplace. On the flip side, our own Mike Meadows changed his mind two different times before committing to SLU - from Loyola Marymount to Cal (where he was even on their campus on working out this past summer) to SLU all in one recruiting cycle.
I agree there is no reason for Billiken fans to root for players that spurned our program. But I don't get the schadenfreude with watching those players fail elsewhere (special exceptions like Gordon, I do understand).
I really didn't care for Jayson Tatum getting animosity for going to Duke. He did the best thing for his career. He would not have improved playing 1 year for Jim Crews. His competition in practice at Duke was the best it could be anywhere. Playing Gillman and Knollmeyer in practice, or whoever was 2nd string back them would have held him back.
Jayson was at almost every game his dad played in at home. He's a true blue Billiken fan even if he didn't attend here.
The other guys don't matter to me whether they do well or not.

Agree. And Goodwin wasn’t good at it either, nor is Jimerson to this point. I do believe Parker has it in him.
In my four years as a student, we didn't ever have a problem getting scoring late. We had Larry Hughes, Justin Love, Justin Love, and Mo Jeffers in those 4 years that would handle that roll. If anything, our closing problems then amounted to getting stops.
But it does seem to be an issue getting late points ever since Jett graduated.

So the major conspiracy is over, five days after it happened. Now we can get back to whether or not there was a second shooter in Dallas in 1963.
Second shooter, third shooter, and the actual first shooter.

I don't really like the guy, but lumping in Alford with Crews and Isiah Thomas is harsh. Alford flamed out at UCLA (as have a bunch of other pretty good coaches), had middling results at Iowa, but was really successful at New Mexico. He got Nevada to the NCAA last season, but jury is still out on him there.
Alford left Iowa a dumpster fire. If you think Situation 1 and 2 at SLU were embarrassing, you might be surprised at the off court happenings of the Alford era in Iowa City. Yes, he didn't ruin every program he took over, he absolutely gets credit for ruining the Hawkeyes.

As a Billikens fan his memory will be tarnished because of his protege, Jim Crews' performance as our head coach.
Yeah, Knight had some former players that built programs--like Coach K. And he had some that wrecked programs--like Crews, Steve Alford, and Isaiah Thomas.

Jordan with some quality play in the last 5 minutes of the 1st. A 3 and two floaters for 7 quick points.

-amazing as when I looked at a box score with the game in the second quarter he -7
That was mostly due to KD chucking up high degree of difficulty shots while his teammates were on the perimeter giving the Suns no chance of rebounding his bricks.

Do we think Scott Warman will call the games on Ballys again this year alongside Highmark? Obviously former Cardinals broadcaster Dan McLaughlin was calling Billiken games before his most recent DUI issues. That makes me wonder if Ballys can dictate that current Cardinals broadcaster Chip Caray call Billiken games. Caray did call Orlando Magic games from 1989-1998, so he has basketball experience in his past.
Chip's grandpa Harry got his start in radio calling Billiken basketball. Chip's father Skip was the voice of the St Louis Hawks and may have called a few Billiken games himself.

Comparing numbers to French's senior year is bunk. COVID wiped him out. He was not the same player. If anything look at his junior year.

CUSA: Steve Logan
A10: Courtney Stockard
Interesting you thought of Steve Logan. My mind went to Melvin Levett. I think they only played together one season when KMart was a junior. Those Bearcats were dangerous!

Kevin was far better than "decent." He is 6th in the all-time SLU scoring list and while that may have been modestly inflated by his teammates not being good enough to spread out the shots, he would have been a major play on any Billikens team, ever. Not to mention he was a two time Australian league MVP and played in the Olympics for Australia. Dude was a stud.
I didn't get to see Kevin play much due to the Billikens and A10s crappy TV distribution in those days. When I saw him play, I saw tenacity, extreme toughness, and leadership. I really liked what I saw. My uncle went to ND with his dad and thinks Rusty is a good dude too.

I'm now interested in seeing Goodwin and Watanabe on the floor together. Two A-10 defensive legends coming off the bench together would be cool.

What are Ford's biggest claims to fame? Marcus Smart. Jordan Goodwin. Yuri Collins. Makes complete sense for a guard to enlist with Ford's camp.
What are Ford's biggest failures? Pretty much anybody over 6'7" or 6'8".
From a coaching standpoint, this is it. But he's probably best known for being the starting PG on the 1993 Kentucky Final Four team. Since all of Michigan's wins were vacated did Travis lead his team to the NCAA Championship without actually getting to play the game? I think the official records would suggest it. Weird.

The Wizards jersey will be like a Gretzky Blues jersey at some point, I guess
If I had a Gretzky Blues sweater, I would definitely be down to trade for a Scott Stevens Blues sweater.

Don't know that Morant will be suited up in that one. We'll have to see when the schedule comes out.

I am sort of at the age where I am surprised to see any of the coaches still active.
Of all the CUSA coaches when I graduated in 01, only John Calipari and Lorenzo Romar are currently employed as head coaches.
Tom Crean will probably catch on with another program and Ray McCallum is the assistant at Tulane. I am shocked Huggins made it another 20 years as it was.

Open that Aussie pipeline please. Harriman, Lisch, Ellis, and now Tatum. We should have connections to some talent down under.

Is this our first Dallas player since Cory Remukun?

contrary to Mulkey’s charm was the Iowa coach, who sells Tupperware to church groups in the off-season. You couldn’t find two more polar opposite coaches in the land facing off for a natty.Whenever I saw Mulkey in that suit from the zoom out view I would swear I just saw Rod Roddy from Price is Right.

Our team looks like the typical #6-10 seed team in the A10.
Could be worse. Probably need some eligibility issues to work in our favor to get higher this year.
