  1. Yeah exactly. It’s weird to track people’s posting habits. I used to love being super active in GDTs, until I realized I was missing large chunks of the game by posting. Everyone does it their own way, and I’m certainly not judging how anyone is or isn’t posting.
  2. Sometimes people don’t post because they’re, you know, watching the game.
  3. Reputations change quickly. It’s all about if a person can reinvent themselves when they move back down a level after being at a P6 and not meeting expectations. I just really don’t want to end up with someone who ends up being another Travis Ford, and SLU is stuck in a land of being good, but not dancing.
  4. I don’t honestly thing SLU will land Mack at the end of the day. He’ll have his pick of jobs, and possibly multiple Big East opportunities to pick from this cycle, if some rumors around Sean Miller at Xavier are to be believed. I don’t necessarily have a dream candidate at the end of the day. Some interesting names have been thrown out between here and Twitter. I guess if I had to name a profile though, I’d lean more on the side of a guy who is rising through the low/mid-major ranks, winning with less resources than SLU probably has.
  5. If they consider a single person on this list besides Mack, just fold the program now.
  6. Majerus’ teams also were in the 35 second shot clock era. It was a very different paced time in college basketball. He obviously was still a masterful defensive tactician, and would have still put out great defenses in this shorter clock world.
  7. He can’t defend his shadow. I’d take Hasahn, DJ Foreman, and Okoro over him 6 days a week and twice on Sunday.
  8. Maybe the good doctor came in person tonight to cut the buyout check himself.
  9. Not saying I’m not impressed with the player, but don’t think it answers those questions. Something is not adding up here based on the other offers he has. Maybe he truly is a hidden gem, but the lack of offers outside of a couple low major programs and SLU makes me wonder.
  10. There isn’t one. Either donors and May think that SLU can be a relevant program, or they don’t. Wasting money on NIL as long as Travis is here makes 0 sense. Bite the bullet, pay the buyout, and bring someone in with a plan to get SLU where the program should be.
  11. Oh, in no way was I saying you’re placing those arbitrary win totals, just using it as a jumping off point. You’re right in that all we can do is let it play out. I’m fairly confident Sincere returning will make it more fun, but not address the biggest issue of the team: defense. Regardless, if the big money wants Travis, he’ll be here, whether we like it or not.
  12. I think there are a lot of good discussion points in here, but really curious what “salvage the season” would be defined as. If Sincere comes back and this team ends up as an 18 win team, that doesn’t really show anything. It’s just kind of an arbitrary goal post. The only question that needs to be answered is if Travis Ford is the best coach to get SLU into the tournament going forward. Sincere coming back and the team looking a bit better doesn’t answer that question, for me at least.
  13. Turgeon no doubt will be considered, but he screams Travis 2.0. Huggins would also be a disaster. He was checked out before all of his personal turmoils. If that’s truly a hypothetical list of candidates, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tom Crean thrown around as an option, not that it would be a good decision.
  14. Hypothetically, Ford could donate his entire 2.5 million dollar salary to the BVF and coach for free, and I’d still have 0 confidence in his ability to make it work here. We’ve seen him squander multiple talented teams and continue to have the same faults. It’s time for both parties to move on.
  15. Chris May and Travis Ford have not pushed the national profile of the Saint Louis Billikens forward under his tenure. That’s all that needs to be said.
  16. A portion of the endowment is not liquid. SLU’s endowment is used for disbursements for designated funds, but the endowment serves a large purpose as collateral for debt issuances that they use to finance capital projects like new dorms or academic buildings.
  17. Jordan Goodwin and Hasahn French masked a lot of Ford’s deficiencies. Travis owes them millions of dollars, because there’s no way he has a job here still without those two.
  18. Switching to zone with this team is like putting lipstick on a pig. The defense sucks, no matter how they try and line up. Bad scheme, below average rotations, and a general lack of awareness add up to one of the worst in the NCAA.
  19. Probably 2.5 million dollars, if I had to guess
  20. Definitely. I was speaking more to the problem with Ford specifically and a hypothetical next season. If there’s a new coach, a house cleaning will be expected. The new guy will retain who fits his vision.
  21. Kind of a catch-22 with this class if they’re really bad. Either you keep them around, and it turns out they are bad in bigger roles, meaning the team stinks. Or, you part ways with the freshmen after the season, and have to replace 9 guys in the spring, which as I said in my original post, I don’t trust TF to do based on recent track record.
  22. I’d love to know what the boosters are being sold as it relates to next season. The heavy lifting on this team is being done by players who won’t be here next year. Plus there’s one HS player committed. So you’re in a situation where you have to replace most of your production via the portal or late cycle HS players, and the ace recruiter coach hasn’t recruited at a high level in recent years. It’s hard to see a drastic improvement next season, but I’m not one of the people who will have input on this decision.
  23. Not even close, unfortunately. Any Big East addition needs to bring a lot to the table. TV market, fans who travel, and ability to bring conference NCAA credits. We have 1 of those 3 things at the moment.
  24. Wait, what is lining up @slu92? The house being cleaned? Things going on as normal beyond this year?
  25. I don’t get the appeal of Ahearn. His background in skill development is nice, but running a program is a ton of work beyond the basketball itself. Seems like a bit of a reach.
