  1. Stu is on furlough this week. So he either wrote this a while back or he is writing on his own dime.
  2. TeamBlue will pool their NLI dollars and share equally, right?
  3. One time transfer rule may not be imminent. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/ncaa-board-against-adopting-one-time-transfer-rule-but-agrees-to-allow-council-vote-as-early-as-may/
  4. Steve Forbes of ETSU quickly in at Vandy.
  5. Articles on both Okoro and Linssen are posted on the SLUBillikens website. Nothing new in the articles. https://slubillikens.com/sports/mens-basketball
  6. https://sports.yahoo.com/finally-ncaa-will-allow-athletes-to-make-money-on-their-names-142306697.html According to this article, we are looking at January 2021 for an NLI vote. Here are some interesting comments from the article. There are still details to be ironed out. There are, no doubt, unexpected issues that could flare up. A priority will be given to trying to create fairness in recruiting. The player would be able to retain a marketing agent to handle the deals. The school would be separate and “guardrails” (that word again) will be put in place to keep boosters out of this in the recruiting process. Athletes also can’t use school logos or uniforms — similar to the NFL or NBA. Side businesses are allowed too. An athlete who is also a recording artist, or opens his or her own company that isn’t even sports-related, will finally be allowed. Another article I read said the athletes will be signing contracts with the business.
  7. Interesting, I didn't know that. French is listed on the SLU roster at 6'7". But is he? Do college rosters ever tend to stretch a player? I don't know.
  8. So is this a minor speed bump or a major crash with our DeSmet - Mali connection? For informational purposes only, for now Ford's 5 teams-including next season-there have been an average of 3.4 scholarship players per year with eligibility remaining leave the program early. Not connecting any dots, not doing any speculation, not making any statements, just providing information.
  9. There are really two deadlines. TODAY, the NCAA deadline for early entry withdrawal is June 3. The NBA deadline is June 15, which is basically for foreign players. The NBA Combine is scheduled for May 19-24. But if the draft is pushed back, these dates will likely be pushed back also and/or the Combine may be canceled.
  10. Yeah, they wanted the same jersey number. Gordon won out in the rock-paper-scissors challenge for the number 0, Okoro went west.
  11. Congratulations to a fine local lady, Nicole Ivey, for leading the female Irish.
  12. https://watchstadium.com/stadiums-2020-nba-draft-entry-tracker-03-31-2020/ NBA Early Entries by conference. Unless it has been changed, today, April 26, is the last day to declare for the NBA. The withdrawal date to maintain NCAA eligibility is June 3. That date could also change. 13. As I previously wrote, the SLU website posted an article on Lorentsson. Strickland had an article when he signed. I would expect one on Linssen when his paperwork is final and one on Okoro when his is final. That is all I have said. No speculation, no connecting dots. Others can jump to any conclusion they want to, because as you have said that is what is done on this board.
  14. Stating the SLU website has not posted an article on Linssen is not speculation. There is no article.
  15. SLU website hasn’t posted anything on Linssen. They have an article on Lorentsson posted. Typically when the paperwork is in and official, they will post an article on a new signee. Don’t know if this means anything or not.
  16. Linssen has not yet signed a LOI or whatever a transfer signs. Doesn’t mean he won’t.
  17. So will athletes sign contracts with these business owners? I believe it would be prudent. Here is what I expect and here is what you get. Could these be 2, 3, 4 year deals?
  18. The money won't be coming out of the AD Department, so why would he/she/mx be the focus. This $$ is all third party. But yeah, someone has to head it up. Just not sure if the AD is the main cog in this Wheel of Fortune.
  19. Whose job will it be to line up sponsors? The AD, the coaching staff, the players “agent”? Someone has to coordinate this. Will a player be allowed to have more than one sponsor? Wonder if there will be a cap on the $$. Probably not. Will Team Blue pool their sponsorships and divide amongst the 'Team' or will it be "I got mine, you get yours"?
  20. He received a medical hardship waiver for 2016-17.
  21. Agent: I have a bid of $125,000 for the player I represent. Do I have $130,000? $130,000 anyone. Yes, the man in the blue suit, $130,000. Anyone for $135,000? No. $130,000 going once, twice, sold to the man in the blue suit. You just got yourself a fine player coach.
  22. Just FYI many metro youth baseball associations are targeting June 1 to start their season. This could change of course.
  23. College football athletic directors believe college football will be played this season, it's just a matter of when and how that season will look. According to a poll from Brett McMurphy of Stadium, 99% of Football Bowl Subdivision ADs said that football will be played in some form this season; whether that season starts on time, is delayed, shortened or played in the spring is another story. Of the 130 FBS ADs polled, 114 responded to the survey. About 75% believe the season won't start on time -- which is to say that Week 0, scheduled to start on Saturday, Aug. 29, won't exist. To boot, 61% of the ADs polled believe season won't start until at least October while another 14% think it won't start until the spring semester of 2021, in either January or February. Additionally, 41% of the ADs asked said they believe the season, if it started in October or November, would have all 12 games. Only one Power Five AD said they didn't expect the season to be played at all. That sentiment wasn't shared by the vast majority of those polled, however, regardless of whether they came from a Power Five or Group of Five program. Money, of course, was the driving reason as to why. "There's too much money at stake, it impacts too many people," a Power Five AD told McMurphy. "If there's no football, we will have bigger issues. This will be worse than the Great Depression and make the 1930s look like a cakewalk." You can read the entire report here as it is perhaps the most complete view of how college football power brokers feel about the upcoming season.
  24. What is interesting to me is that it appears the NBA feedback has been flowing. I wonder if Goodwin and French have heard anything?
