i have been without power since Thursday, got it back early this evening and had to straighten out the garbage accumulation in my computer. I finally got here to see the Bills board and was extremely happy to see we are going to the NIT. I think they deserve it, Go Bills!

GDT: A-10 Tournament: SLU v. Loyola Chicago
Old guy replied to GDT Bot's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
Loyola wins, the season is over for SLU. Too bad but losing is part of playing. -
I think we have a good chance of beating Loyola Chicago today. Yes, the team had a tough game yesterday and won. Yes, they are not fully recovered after yesterday and Loyola Chicago is well rested. Loyola could win this one also. However, it looks like it took SLU most of the conference play during the season to get into being a good playing team that fights to the end. The game yesterday was proof of this. The issue today is this, are they just too tired to perform like they did yesterday, or not. If they can play as they did yesterday I think we will likely win. Go Bills! The second issue in my mind today is whether or not St. Bona will be able to beat VCU today. This will make it a whole lot easier for SLU to get to the finals, assuming we win today.

GDT: A-10 Tournament, SLU v. Davidson
Old guy replied to GDT Bot's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
SLU's MBB team has a lot of injuries and people who cannot play. But we just do not give up. Regardless of what the opposition does, we fight to the end. We did today and we won. Now we have to beat Loyola tomorrow, and, with divine help, St. Bona has to beat VCU tomorrow to help clearing our path to the finals. Whichever way it goes, we will do our very best to get the job done. Go Bills! -
I know this will sound like nonsense to most if not all of you, but let's hypothesize that whoever wins game #4 (either St. Bona or Duquesne) manages to win game #8 against VCU by a miracle of heaven. SLU then would be paired with the winner of game #8 in game #12, the semifinals. This will make a victory in the semifinals much easier for us than beating VCU. And it would make it easier to get to the final game of the A10 tournament, and whatever comes afterwards... The probability for having this kind of outcome is LOW but it is not O. Who knows what will happen. Go Bills!!

Like it or not we will go against Davidson tomorrow. We can win this one. Go Bills!

Crews took over a team shaped by Majerus, but was not able to create a similarly effective team by himself. I think/hope Schertz will be the opposite of Crews.

However, in the not too distant past, someone watching a Cardinals baseball game at the ball park was hit by a spent bullet and required medical care.

I interviewed at John Hopkins Medical School during my senior year of college. This was 1967. At that time, the Johns Hopkins Medical area had tall chain link fences with barbed wire, lots of security and there was a rule that to go to the parking areas after hours you had to get an armed security escort. Not for me, thank you, I went to Georgetown Medical School instead. I am not saying that DC was safe either, but no big city is really safe.

3 wins means we will beat VCU, or whoever else manages to beat VCU ahead of us, that will get us to the championship game. The key for us is to be able to beat VCU.

Avila is indeed a great player, however he needs a lot of support from a team that is well attuned to play with him. This support was lacking for a good part of the year because of various reasons. Jimerson played better than Avila this year. However, the team has played better, with more cohesion, by the end of the season. I think if we can beat VCU we might just be able to win the A10 tournament. If we lose against VCU we may not go anywhere after the A10 tournament. And, if we beat VCU but lose the championship game we might, just might, go at large to the Dance or go to NIT. This is just my opinion, it is not based upon facts or stats, just on the way I think it will go.

The truth is that Duquesne made an extraordinary effort to win this game and despite all we kept on going and wound up winning it by 2 pts kin OT. Well done Bills! Lets keep the never give up attitude in the A10 tournament. All the best to our team!
-
This one was a tight game and Duquesne was doing a good job against SLU. We did not play our best game ever, at times it was not pretty, BUT we never gave up and kept on going until we won the game in overtime. Whatever it was that worked it worked at the end of the game. A win by 2 points. Well done Bills! Now onto the A10 tournament in DC
-
Hate to say this but Duquesne is not playing like they have the worst offense in A10, at least not in the first half of the game. Go Bills and beat them!
-
This is a tight game so far, judging by the first half either team can win this game. I see no clear advantage on either side. I hope we win. Go Bills!

Last chance for The Bills to finish 4th..The BUT theory
Old guy replied to The Wiz's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
Let's say it is not likely we will get a double bye this season. We still can win the A10 tournament although this will not be easy to do. It is not over until it is over. Go Bills! -
Conklin says High Point possibly to A-10
Old guy replied to dlarry's topic in Billikens.com Main Board
My understanding is that Pestello will not leave until June. If I am not wrong about his retirement date, we currently have no president capable to speak for SLU to A10 until the next president takes over. This places us at a disadvantage in transferring our School's desires to the A10 board. If Pestello is still president of SLU he cannot speak for SLU or bind his successor to his opinion in this matter. I would not want May's opinion presenting SLU's desires to the A10 in this matter. -
I am not going to comment on the refs. The second half was not good for us. We lost the game, too bad but that is the way it is. Now onto the next game.
-
So far we are doing very well. 41 to 28 at the half, we are ahead 13 pts. We will see what happens in the second half but so far we appear to have a good chance to win this game. Go Bills!

Dayton as a city has its own habits and peculiarities. They do not have any professional sports teams based in Dayton, so their sports fans support the only major sports venue in town which is no other than the UD Dayton Flyers MBB team. The attention of the sports loving citizens of this city, not a small city by the way, is directed to the UD basketball team, which makes their arena a place which is an extremely hostile environment for any opposing basketball teams to win against Dayton. There is really no comparison between the level of support given to the UD MBB team by the whole city, with the level of support St. Louis citizens at large (other than SLU alums) provide for the SLU MBB team. We can expect a very difficult to win game against Dayton tomorrow. Make no mistake, I will be extremely happy if SLU wins. Go Bills!

Unfortunately whether or not we get the double bye, not one of us has any power to make it happen. The team will have to win the game against Dayton to get the double bye, which will not be easy to do. If we lose against Dayton we will not get the double bye. In my post I was trying to point out that if we lose to Dayton there might be a bit of a silver lining to this dark cloud. Remember that we still have a chance to win the A10 tournament and go to the Dance. There will be no need to drown in grief. Our situation if we lose to Dayton will be worse than it could be with the double bye, but we will not have lost our chance to go to the Dance this year, not yet anyways.
-
I think beating Dayton at Dayton's arena is going to be difficult, but perhaps we can do it. Thinking about this coming game seriously, I believe that what matters is not winning the conference but winning the A10 tournament. We might have to play more games if we do not get the double bye, OK, so we play them. The conference will be a different animal. I also think we are improving at this time, so not making the double bye and having to play extra games may actually make it easier for SLU to win the tournament. We will see, all we need is a bit of patience. I know the emotions at this time are going up and down, like the market does, and what I am saying may not make much sense to a lot of people. Reality is the way it is, never the way we wish it to be and even if we win the next two games we will not win the conference. Have faith, we can still go to the Dance regardless of where we end in the conference.

Well, we came out of obscurity today to bury Loyola U Chicago in the mud. Very satisfying game. Go Bills!
-
Wow! We crunched and totally humiliated Loyola U of Chicago! Nicely done! Now onto the next one. Go Bills!

Great game LUC is going down.
