  1. McBroom had flashes of absolute brilliancy in play but was not consistent. I am sorry he did not fit better in our team and that he was not as consistent ans we hoped him to be. Hope you have a great life and hope you can play your last year of eligibility somewhere that will be a better fit to you than we were. All the best to you AM..
  2. You bring up an important point Joe, in a situation like the one we have now it is important to clearly define goals and outcomes and adhere to them. Things cannot be left to "substantial improvement" and a gentleman's handshake. So, I assume a set of goals will be defined in the very near future and approved by both Crews and the AD. Both parties need this type of definition, otherwise things will get murky and may get ugly next year. For example what exactly do you mean by "team improved enough next year to say we have a good shot at making the tourney with the freshman as juniors." That goal is so full of ill defined subjective holes, big holes, that you would have to be nuts to accept it. They (Crews and the AD) are going to need a mutually acceptable set of goals, or else Crews should walk and let them get a new coach. It is not easy to deal with future performance issues like the ones we have now. A clear definition of achievable goals for next year will do much to improve the situation.
  3. Agree, people go through phases. TL may have gone through some kind of negative phase this year. Whatever it was, I hope it does not last much longer.
  4. I disagree, of course, I think Crews' fate will be controlled by his actions and success or lack thereof this coming season or seasons. I really do not see programs shedding head coaches after a bad season or two, however when bad seasons become the norm rather than the exception then head coaches are shed. The exception to this rule is generally some kind of totally unacceptable event happening during a season. This event may involve player behavior or coach issues. If an event of this nature does occur in the future then all bets are off regarding head coach retention. Assuming no such an unacceptable event happens I can see Crews coaching the Bills for some time, perhaps a significant amount of time, depending on performance and the success of the team. I think that if next season is anything but a repeat of this season's terrible results, or worse, we can be reasonably assured Crews will remain as head coach for at least one additional year. I simply cannot believe Crews will be fired after next season in the absence of an unacceptable event, provided the team's performance improves by a fair degree. Please note that the word "fair" does not require making it to the top 50 level next season. I presume the AD will meet with coach Crews and work out the details of what will be expected out of him and the team next season, and the following seasons.
  5. Oh, I think we will have to have more than one schollie open for next year if this team is going to improve for 2015-2016
  6. That was one tight ending to the game with Boise. Dayton wins. I thought it was unfair the game was played in Dayton's home court but it was. It may have made the difference, however this is good for A10
  7. Yes, considering what he did playing in his Freshman year I had hoped better for Lancona but it never happened. It was not only during play that he looked out of it, during the pregame practice periods he appeared to lack enthusiasm and was just going through the motions. Sorry things never happened for this kid and hope he does well elsewhere.
  8. Dwayne's_World I sincerely hope your sources are as well informed as they have been in the past regarding Grandy's shoulder problems and this post is as accurate as your other insider predictions have been in the past regarding Grandy's shoulder problems.
  9. Your pick, although we should hope the step down is temporary
  10. Dayton had a 25-8 overall record this year and barely made it to the bottom seed in the NCAA. 20 wins may not be enough to go to post season play.
  11. Talking about transfers, I would love to see that Sengfelder kid coming to SLU.
  12. This is why without transfers we are not likely to go anywhere. So let's hope for the transfer announcements to come in soon.
  13. Mexican ice cubes may help I suppose, the effect may be similar. Domestic ones do not work for this application.
  14. hsmith instant messaging = instant gratification or something like it. I think they are connected somehow. Agree with most of what you say. The issue that intrigues me is that we were playing better in January and then things went bad somehow. I assume there was something internal going on with the team and hope it can be solved by transfers. I am, of course, not certain this can be done.
  15. Good God Almaman, the colonoscopy itself is nothing, the problem is the night before with the prep when you think you are surely going to die.
  16. I do not know about that Next Year Bill. I hope Tatum comes to SLU. I hope he decides that a good education and a top role in the local scene is worth more than the money from the NBA is worth to him. I know this may sound impossible but it is not so, people's values are the key, what JT wants deep down inside is what will determine what he does with his life. Sure there is money in the NBA, it acts like a lure and that is what it is, money. Is there anything other than money in life? Yes indeed. I hope Tatum comes to SLU and graduates from SLU, becomes a legend in this city and gets SLU up to the upper echelons of D1 basketball for 4 consecutive years. Wouldn't that be a real legacy to leave behind? Am I dreaming? Maybe, but if I am dreaming it is a beautiful dream.
  17. The chicken vs the egg situation, I agree. Old vs new, egg vs. chicken, better vs worse, how should we know? Not one of us knows what really happened inside the team this season. We were showing some progress and seemed ready to go forward, then we reversed direction, why? Can the team's performance be fixed by a new coach that does not know exactly what happened last season and has no idea how to fix it? Can Crews fix it? Is he a part of the problem or a part of the solution? What can be done? Not only that but, who is available to us now?, Hewitt for sure, but do we want him? and do we solve anything with Hewitt considering GM's performance last season? And to top this all, it is the ADMINISTRATION that determines when to replace a coach, it does not depend on the least on any kind polls that this board may take. No matter, the season is over, we were beaten badly, thank the Lord it is over. Next page, we move forward. 13 true / false questions are designed to be simple but at the same time they provide innumerable options to debate and demonstrate why it is that neither the "yes" nor the "no" answer is or can be correct, look above.
  18. The witch hunting and character assassination problem is inherent in our current American culture with its predominance of entitled, loud, and unthinking characters permeating every aspect of our society. We live in the "ME" culture with instant messaging, and zero ability to deal with anything that goes against our wishes. We have many of these people in this board, who cannot live without instant gratification or without calling attention upon themselves and their hurt desires. Add to these the trolls that flock in waves at unpredictable times and you have threads like this. This happens in every fan board. The reality is this: We have a team that got soundly beaten this season. We have a coach that did not get the team where we hoped it might go. Certainly the teams lack of success did not meet the needs of all of these entitled "fans". We cannot send the whole team packing and replace it with another team of magically talented players that will win every game they play from the word go. These mythical players are not available, period. We are not going to replace the head coach for this coming year, period. We need to develop the team we have in place with the coach that we have in place, period. This still leaves a lot of room for positive action and improvement. The individual players may (should) frequent the gyms and weight rooms, the head coach may judiciously preen the team and the coaching staff, carefully replacing some where required. Lots can be done before the next year playing season. This is reality guys, suck it up and live with it. The current state of affairs will not last forever. Have no doubt that the head coach is aware that he bears the ultimate responsibility for the achievements or lack thereof of the team. Have no doubt that the head coach's continuation will ultimately depend on team success, it just will not happen NOW.
  19. It is good that I literally grandfathered into it..
  20. Beyonce might be too much for him after all that and she may require exercising the wrong muscle groups.
  21. So, beggars can't be choosers, if we have 3 transfers how are we going to fill the slots?
  22. No need to apologize White Pelican, the truth is revealed, the only sport I am interested in and follow is Billiken basketball. I really do not know the names of the Cardinals, Rams, or Blues. However I am surprised that Box found out about Mark Reynolds' epic cleansing BM. It never crossed my mind that we were talking about any team other than the Bills. I really thought Box was showing the incredible detail of Billiken insider information he is able to access. I do hope no one minds my sense of humor.
  23. Must have been a hell of a BM if it made him change his name from the old Miles Reynolds to the new, after the cleansing BM, Mark Reynolds. A real life changing event, maybe even a Guiness book of records event?
  24. Like it or not we should all support the A10 teams and hope for the best.
