  1. I'll disagree with you. Something as big as changing schools and NIL money, a player is most likely going to tell a friend, girl friend and or a parent. 5 players, no way that stays sealed.
  2. Since Schertz has been tight lipped about his move to SLU, it is safe to assume he has had NO conversations about it with his players. One or more players may have expressed interest to him, based on the rumored move, but that would be the most that would have transpired. Schertz knows who he would like to have and what it will likely cost. SLU no doubt agreed to an NIL commitment that he can win with. I'm not sure how much if any transfer dialog with a player prior to their entering portal is acceptable? Alsi, a discussion like that with a player would quickly go viral. I think Schertz is being careful and will move quickly, once things are public.
  3. Vice might be a much better fit in the 5 out, I recall hum being touted as a 3 point sheeter.
  4. In this hypothetical, the only way Shertz can run his 5 out offense, is with Tj at the 5. Because our current bigs don't shoot 3s. So we would play a very small 5 out line up. So maybe Tj, Thames, Gibby, Curcic and Medley. Hughes as the 6th man. I think we had enough outside shooting gaurds for the 5 out but woefully short of the key outside shooting and passing 5.
  5. The value of Curcic, is he shoots well coming off the bench. Our bigs don't shoot 3s, so the 5 out offense turns into a 4 out offense. One of the things that make Avila so effective is that his defender has to come out of the paint to guard him, or he will drop a 3 on them. When his defender comes out, it opens s up the lanes for cutters. Its beautiful. But it does not work with a big that can't make 3s. I dont think Schertz will settle for players that can't play his system. I think in today's game, you tell the players that you are not likely to see the floor and they will leave. Indiana State is a super disciplined team. The Bills have been very undisciplined. The culture is about to change.
  6. It seems that Schertz has a well defined system and recruits to it. His system seems based in analytics, so he likely is evaluating every potential player that way. He will probably reach the same conclusion as the Wiz. Thanks Wiz. The ground is changing under the feet of our current players.
  7. I dont know anything about Mugassa shooting. Brad is definitely not a stretch 5. I dont see him fitting at all. I wonder what his computer will say if the Wizz asks Ehat current Billikens players fit Schertz system?
  8. Here are the steps that I think have transpired. SLU tells Ford they are cutting ties 3 weeks before it is announced. At that time, they hire a search firm to see if any of the coaches on SLUs list have any interest. = SLU is interested in talking to SLU Schertz and he is interested in SLU. Talks progress, there are interviews and discussions about salary, contact and NIL commitment. At some point there is a meeting of the minds and Shertz committs to a contract. That was probably before selection Sunday. SLU needed a contract in order to wait for his season to end. They offered what it took to get the agreement. The contract has a buy out, so Schertz was, and probably is, able to exit the contract, but it has a significant buy out. The buy out is too steep for Indiana State. No way SLU made an offer, and Shertz gets to make up his mind at the end of his season as to staying at ISU or leaving. If he goes anywhere but SLU, SLU gets paid. A school like Louisville probably has the money to pay the buyout. Bottom line, it's a done deal, unless a deep pockets school and Shertz decide to dance, AND SLU gets paid.
  9. It makes sense that the Bills wanted an agreement before IU's season ends and paid what it took to make it happen. You don't just walk away from the consequences of breaking the contract. I'm still trusting that we still have our coach.
  10. I can't imagine Schertz talking to any of his players before this is announced. So my view is that any of his current players joining SLU, is pure speculation. That said, this could be the perfect storm. The key players are not seniors, transferring is easy AND SLU is rumored to have NIL money. The players get to step up in conference with their coach, in the system they flourish in and get paid. Otherwise transferring is risky business.
  11. While we are speculating, it could be that Schert has come to an agreement with SLU, but doesn't want it announced until after the last home game. It makes sense that he wants the last home game without distraction. At the same time, he knows that extending the announcement hurts his new job.
  12. I would like to see Shirtz keep Harriman and have him look world wide for bigs who can shoot 3s and pass the ball.
  13. IS makes the extra pass and doesn't bail on their offence.
  14. That's how we ended up with Ford.
  15. The other stats area that seemed to kill us was turnovers. Wiz can you say where we ranked in turnovers?
  16. The last line pretty much summed up the season.
  17. I am not sure about Parker. He is a gifted scorer, but poor defender. When I've seen him on the bench, he seems disinterested in the game. I dont recall him celebrating teammates making big plays.
  18. I'll disagree on the ROI. He is a record setting reason to watch the team, on a team that doesn't have much to watch. His super quick release is beautiful and rare. I hope he is back next year.
  19. Mack would be a big statement hire. I think it depends in 3 major things. 1. What he is looking for in a school/conference. 2. What he will make. 3. How much NIL commitment there is. He will be very expensive and would require BIG donor commitment.
  20. I believe Coach Ford's plan for this season was premised on winning a championship last season. Then reloading on that success in the portal and maybe one or 2 good freshman. When last season's team fizzled, Ford was stuck selling only the success of Goodwin in the NBA and taking Yuri to national prominence. That wasn't and isn't enough to draw quick fix players. Now instead of coming off of a very disappointing season, we will be coming off of a disastrous season. It will take a LOT of NIL money to attract recruits to play for Ford. Its true that players want money, but they also want to dance.
  21. When coach Ford came here he said he came to win championships. That was the vision he painted for the school, his recruis and the fans. He didn't say that in this interview. He basically said every A10 teams goal is to play in the tournament and the league needs to get back to sending more teams each year to the dance. He said we have a plan to turn this around, though he didn't say what that is, other than to say we didn't do a good job in the portal or NIL. Now he says he understands both. I think he loves SLU and St Louis. I think he works as hard or harder than any coach we have had. I wish I believed that he could get us to the top 1 or 2 in the A10..... but I don't. He will get us out of the cellar, but his ceiling is lower. Because of his track record here, he can't say to recruis, "we are about winning championships". If the administration keeps him we won't get close to the top 2 teams in the A10. Maybe top half, at best top third. If we were Fordham, this would be OK. But SLU has invested way too much to settle for this.
  22. Ford was married to The idea of Perkins returning to form. In hindsight he should have benched Perkins and played Parker. Ford had no patience for Parker miscues as he adjusted ti Div 1.
  23. Gibson has been drawing the best guard defender, now teams may put the best guard defender on Parker and try to provide some help. Gibson should get loose more often. Ez should have more freedom of movement inside as well. Now if our guys can recognize when they are getting doubled and find the open man, we should get easier shots.
  24. Parker is back, Ez is as good as we could have hoped. We are a team that should be getting better, and we aren't.
