  1. Saint Louis [24-6 (12-4), RPI: 29, SOS: 109] Saint Louis topped off a resurgent 2011-12 campaign with last week's wins over Xavier and at Duquesne, and it seems more certain than ever that the Billikens are going to get in. So why aren't they a lock? Because there are still holes here. Chief among them? That glaring 0-2 record against the RPI top 50. (It would have really helped if Villanova was good, or Washington's RPI was better. Alas.) That dearth of quality games, nevermind wins, is part of the reason this SOS is shaky and the nonconference figure (nearly in the 200s) is even worse. Still, though, odds are SLU will get in. It would take a second-round A-10 tourney loss to either La Salle or Richmond (and probably just Richmond, because La Salle's pretty decent) and some shake-ups along the cut line to see this team somehow miss the tournament. It's not impossible, but it's very unlikely.
  2. If we win 9 in a row my chances of passing the CPA drop significantly. Well worth it
  3. Agree that the big shift is going to be the 16 team super conferences for football. At which point the bball only schools will be told to take a hike. Absolutely vital that we are able to hook up with these bball only schools. Have to get wins in the tournament to raise our profile so we do not get left out to dry when the big chips fall. Prom is coming up, time to get pretty so we get an invite.
  4. Just win baby, 9 in a row from here on out!!!!!
  5. I would do terrible terrible things for an offer from Bain
  6. Not suprising, the level of apathy towards SLU from our own students is remarkable.
  7. yeah scorecenter by ESPN works best for all sports. You can also set it to send you text message updates.
  8. I don't think we are a lock yet. Win Saturday and win one in the A-10 tourney and i will feel safe going into the selection show. Can't give the NCAA a reason to keep us out.
  9. Wow, small man syndrome running wild in this thread. The amount of whining and crying in this thread proves tigerluke's point about how there is no reason for them to play us. No one in CoMo cares about SLU, but we now have a 7 page thread bitching about how they are "ducking" us. I would love to play Mizzou every year, the best way to make it happen is to take care of business on the court, and not get players suspended off the court. While i would like to see it happen i don't really care if it doesn't.
  10. Make the sweet 16 or better this year and we will not have any problems with student attendance next year. If we could knock out Mizzou, Marquette and Ohio State in the dance (more of our students root for these schools then they do SLU) it would be damn near perfect.
  11. Our TV deal (or lack of) is a joke. However it is just one more thing that winning will solve. Very important that we make a run in the tournament this year. The window is open cannot waste the opportunity.
  12. Margin for error is much smaller now. Really need to beat X to stamp our ticket.
  13. One of my jobs at SLU was calling up alumni to get them to give back to the school. Every single one of them who had visited recently mentioned how great the campus looked now as opposed to when they went here (None of them mentioned the Pevely milk factory in case you were wondering). The campus looks amazing and draws students and alumni to our university. The green space makes it feel like a college campus. SLU students don't patronize local business???? While i agree they like to stick to the SLU bubble of Library/Humps/Lacledes you can find SLU kids all over the city. Also this must be a joke comparing our students to Wash U. They are notorious for staying in their bubble and by and large despise the city of St. Louis. There are STL firms that don't even target Wash U for recruiting because they know those kids are leaving to go back to NYC.
  14. I never said blank check to the Rams. I said it needs to be the top priority. Last deal we gave up too much without locking them down and gave them too many outs. Sunk costs are irrelevant in future dealings. Make the deal happen and keep them here long term. The narrative on STL is that we are a high crime hell hole that businesses love to leave. Letting the NFL walk away would fit that mold perfectly. And that building looks like an abandoned factory (surprise that's what it is), and is an eyesore. Just another reminder of business leaving STL.
  15. I remember Microsoft did this with the Xbox 360, works like a charm
  16. Pike got kicked off a few years ago As for the tickets, had a friend pick up 4 student tickets at noon today so they were not sold out at that point.
  17. Austin has UT, basically a pro sports team and the largest university in the US. San Antonio?????, who the hell wants to move to San Antonio, see "cities that don't register" Vegas is the greatest place in the world to visit. Who wants to live there though?
  18. Your right an NFL team leaving would be great for the city. Why would we want a franchise for the most popular sporting league in North America. Better to have more abandoned buildings. Hell we could even get a few walkable sidewalks. Cities with no NFL do not even register, LA being the exception but they are fighting hard to get one.
  19. Cry me a river, that building looked awful and there was no reason to keep it standing. Keeping the Rams should be the #1 priority for any effort to "revitalize" STL. Of course the hipsters on NextSTL think sports are silly so they spend time defending Del Taco and a former milk factory. They attack anything and everything SLU does with property they own. SLU has created a college campus in the middle of a city and every alum or prospective student i have toured/talked to is amazed by it.
  20. Cant wait till the Big East loses its AQ for the BCS. This place about to blow
  21. Anyone hear if they actually sold out of the student tickets??? Updates??
