  1. IMO I'd say building the arena was 30% for athletics and 70% new revenue that could be generated by events unrelated to the athletic department. Padre B!tch **** just cares about money. But that is nothing new.
  2. Whoever pumped the Stamos rumor for the speaker needs to be given a loral, and hearty handshake. Lots of students bought into it. Well done.
  3. The height issue is dumb. It is not interesting. Drop it.
  4. 1. Yes. He is a huge dick. We all know that. But how can public confrontation be good? until now, he has generally kept his opinions to himself. 2. We are considered a good basketball school? 3. We will miss them more during practices than during games..Paul was a leader off the court though. 4. Agree it is a crap shoot, but it seemed as though after Porter left, we had zero shot at anyone left 5. 6'2 is a short guard? How do you feel about 6'5 forwards? The fact that you don't see the negative is a little hard to fathom. I feel like a lot of people need to accept SLU basketball for what it is, and stop living in some dream world. We will be very competitive the next few years. That is going to happen. But coming off "the situation" where the program was already cast in a negative public light, it was important for the program to go above and beyond to try and keep everything together and make progress going forward, and that includes recruiting. We already had last years freshman signed before it all went down so that class can not be considered in the argument, but building on that class the next couple of years will be a challenge, and losing Porter is huge. He had the relationships with the recruits and would have been our best bet in guiding them past all the allegations and the way the school handled the events. Now we leave recruiting to relatively inexperienced/unproven AJ and CH. (yes CH got ce and rl, but what has he done in the states?) I know I am beating a dead horse with the Porter conversation, but I still find it odd we have not hired a new assistant yet.
  5. How can you say you are not disappointed with the program the past few months? Aside from the mediocre fanfest that was talked about a long time ago and just recently executed, what has gone right? We lose PE to Med School (good for him, great person to have around off court tho) We lose CS to a D2 school. (wasnt going to play anyway, but cody's best friend and solid defensive/practice player) We lose a recruit who picks a walk on opportunity over a full ride We have 2 open scholarships and nobody to fill them We lost our top recruiter/assistant coach and for some reason are taking our sweet time getting another coach to come in.. All very young/inexperienced assistant coaches A president of the university who publicly calls out his coach I believe we will be very good next year. No doubt. But all news has been negative this offseason. If you deny this, then you are just plain blinded by your billiken loyalty. P.S. NH- stop trying to credential yourself on this board. its getting ridiculous.
  6. Got stamos to come to Humps for my son's graduation party. all are welcome. starts at 6. Tell big john Randy sent ya..we will be on the patio
  7. -3 mainly for admitting you (40+ years old) got pissed off enough at a 17 year old to go on this rant..
  8. After reading these rants... I want to offer up a question for debate: Do you think PM will make more of an impact at Loyola in his first 4 seasons than RM did at SLU? -I vote Yes. I know there are certain "situations" that hindered RM's time here at SLU..but Poop Happens to everyone.. PM is nowhere near the coach RM is, but I believe his recruiting is far superior and we will see Loyola in the tournament within the next 4 years.. The conference is nowhere near the A-10 but giving PM Chicago as a home base for recruiting will also give him a huge advantage.. Interested to see how this all pans out..
  9. You should consider the coach at Harvard before assuming the kid is all cleared academically..
  10. I know I will get blasted for being critical of the HeardThisBlog..but Nate makes a valid point and it is one of the reasons I don't read to deeply into what is being reported on the HTB.. Another reason is the constant use of this board for self promotion..which wouldn't be necessarily bad, except it gets excessive.. also don't like when they get all defensive in posts..(what's that you say? Legwork?).. If you are going to offer up public information, you need to just understand that not everyone is going to like certain things..a lot of haters will pop up, just be mature and keep doing what you are doing...don't act like a sissy and respond to every post on a message board.. That being said, I do appreciate the effort and info.. hope it keeps up and gets better with TIME
  11. Roy- Please read my post a little more careful. I said he would receive a "good academic scholarship" from Wisconsin...that doesn't mean full, but perhaps I should have clarified. the average act score is around a 27 at UW, so i'm sure he could get some good monies with a little help from Bo..
  12. You should start the 'Deal with it' blog. I'm sure you would gain instant credibility. And I don't want to speak for him, but I took it for what it was.. We lost our head recruiter/assistant coach... I'm sure the recruiting efforts took a big hit..and when when PM put as much time and energy into recruiting theses guys as he did, the kids developed a connection more with him rather than the university. And when we wer'e competing against high majors for guys, we probably lost our shot at landing any of them.. so trying to get AJ involved with high grade recruits in such a short time period seems like a lost cause.. so therefore they need bodies, and this kid is someone we could get
  13. Although I am a bit hurt that you referred to me as 6 "#" symbols rather than something a bit more creative, I will overlook it.. But I still am waiting to hear your credentials (banker/lawyer/basket weaver) which deems you privy to calling out credible sources on this site over a recruiting issue... The kid is obviously not going to be able to come in and contribute on this team.. so if he is going to come in and ride the bench, aside from the athletic full ride, why wouldnt he go to the big 10 and sit the bench? He probably would get a very good academic scholarship as well as play teams closer to home...I'm not sure why we even offered him other than a practice player... I vote, unless we get a big, to keep the scholarships and fill the needs that become apparent after this upcoming season..
  14. I appreciate the little tidbits they get in..but whoever called out nate shows how dumb people on this board can be... what is your day job? banker? lawyer? I have no clue...but when you call out someone who has a job in sports and has been so closely affiliated with the team over the past three years, you prove you are ignorant. and the blog is nice, but the self promotion is a little on the unprofessional side. ie. tweeting about getting on radio shows and tweeting at willie things like "we will be following you this year" .. that is weak I will "like" the blog when it gets more credibility than an intern and a u-news employee... also.. they really sell "heard this briefs" ????? http://www.cafepress.com/heardthisblog.529632864
  15. We quickly need to include Hasselhoff's love of the billikens..
  16. Really confusing move by Mizzou. KTRS is hitting the pooper. Very unprofessional. Terrible signal. The guys who run the station are a joke. Money issues. Arguably the worst sports radio station around ( ex. KFNS ) .. very terrible choice by Mizzou
  17. maybe we can find a recruit at this game..
  18. Yah we were debating Tyler Griffey vs this German guy jackhole.
  19. I have overlooked your political views, as I do not care about politics. I have overlooked your name, as I believe it is a weak replica of Randy. I will not overlook your disrespect for STAMOS. Repent. Now.
  20. Per Willie Reed: Remembr when working out, what you eat is a big part of getting in shape. I really hope Martin Bruenig understands this now instead of 3 years out of high school...
  21. I'm ready to rumble. Jimbo is the best person on this board.
