He won't get any older, and he won't ever die.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the old Postmaster General licked his last stamp on August 1, 2020. But he’s really not dead if we find a way to remember him.

He was also terrific in “The Firm,” which is one of Grisham’s finest screen adaptations.

Ford said something about how the practiced getting rebounds on the defensive side and preventing your man from driving to the basket for 2 days rather than giving UMass all the second chances and unimpeded drives, but the players didn't perform.  My question is why only 2 days - why haven't you been practicing that aspect of the game all year!  Of course, it is hard for him but if you don't teach it all the time whose fault is that.  RM always said rebound and defend so has Ford just realized this?

Now, wait a minute, you’re not talking about the Chicago State squad on the second of two 4-game winning streaks are you? The team that knocked off Northwestern a week after NW knocked off Purdue. I’d take every starter they have over ours with the exception of Eziwero. Sorry, Gibby would have to be the 6th man. As they say, go see the kids play.

Sorry, I meant to say “program” not “team.” Our program is archaic. We do less with more. And to your point, Chicago State is doing more with almost nothing.

The offensive rebounds was the difference.   Most of those turn into putbacks.

The lack of fundamentals and consistent effort in this team is horrible.  What exactly do they practice?

Bingo. It’s almost as if this group just started playing basketball and Ford just types in “what’s a good basketball offense?” on his search engine, which is probably Yahoo. We are the most archaic team in any level of intercollegiate basketball, Chicago State included.

So, what is Ford's next move on the chess board after Jimmer gets hounded?

I believe you misspelled checkers, like the one outside your neighborhood Cracker Barrel; that’s more Ford’s style. But I don’t believe he has a next move. If he loses Jimmerson, that may be signs of a full mutiny on the Billiken Bounty, and it pains me to say it, but maybe Jimmerson has a right to be pissed off at Ford. He didn’t come here to play with the scraps from the recruiting table. He expected more out of his helmsman and is not getting it.

I’m sorry for referencing both Cracker Barrel and nautical terms in the same post, but I’m in New Orleans for work and it seems like Louisiana is a place where those two worlds collide almost every minute of the day. Going to drown some sorrows at Port of Call tonight.

    Can't or won't?

I don’t know if I can dog on a 2x All-Conference player (third and second teams, respectively) and who has tallied almost every single academic accolade a student-athlete can notch on the belt, but the man has toiled for us. I use that word sparingly, but he has logged (to-date) 3,665 minutes of pretty damn good basketball for Saint Louis U.
We have no idea if he’s struggling like Hargrove with some things mentally, or maybe there are signs of fatigue, and in no way, shape or form am I saying he is immune from criticism, but the larger body of work Jimmerson has in his portfolio makes me want to step back and at least acknowledge his past performance as a benchmark for where his peers should aspire to be in their careers. I appreciate Jimmerson and hope the young man can find his groove.

All the people who think we can't afford to move on from Ford are not factoring in the lost revenue piece if you keep him.  Instead of losing a couple of hundred season tix renewals you will be probably looking at 1000 or more especially if this season spirals even further out of control.  This doesn't even factor in the loss of concessions and parking money that will accompany this.  You can say well give the tix away and the concessions and parking money will be replaced - the problem with this is it is hard to give tix away even to youth groups if nobody has an interest.  The loss of the season tix holders also means a loss of Billiken Club memberships.  Also, once you lose a season tix holder you probably are not getting them back ever.  At this point I am seriously considering dropping my season tix for next year if Ford returns - I have had tix for 44 years so this is not a decision I make easily.  My point is that the overall health of the program will take years to recover if that even happens - I suggest that getting rid of Ford is not a difficult decision to make if you care at all about Billiken Basketball future.  Too much is at stake to keep him but then again people often make decisions that are contrary to their own best interest when they are short sighted.

You could also do a bloodless revolution / Oakland A’s fans type of “reverse boycott.” Show up to the last home game en masse, and then make the “Fire Ford” chants so loud that May can’t run or hide from it. Oakland sports fans have this down to a science.

i beleive that ford recruits himself.   waterbug size point guards.   yuri, medley, now this kid.  never understood him not developing goodwin as the point guard.  his advantage size, along with his natural instincts would have been an overall improvement for the team.  there are tons of wings out there that could have easily replaced goodwin there.

You have to sell what you know, right?

He was practicing with the team working on the scout team.  Just because he was ruled ineligible, it doesn’t mean he wasn’t involved in team activities. He wasn’t allowed to suit up and play in games. So, he was under the staff’s supervision.

Which makes his lack of conditioning all the more baffling. I know it’s another cliche-laced excuse that you can’t “simulate game speed in practice,” but my goodness. I hope he finds his lungs soon. He’s a solid ballplayer.

I think we are seeing why Ezewiro wasn't playing much for a bad Georgetown team.  From what I understand, he has lost a lot of weight since showing up at SLU.  Can you imagine how hard it would be for him to get up and down the court with 30 extra pounds?  He can't keep up now.  For every basket he gets, he costs us an easy layup on the other end due to his conditioning.  For those of you that think that the best version of our team is one that runs after a defensive rebound and plays up tempo, we cannot do that when our break out is 4 on 5.

You have to wonder what he was doing (or wasn’t) during his time in NCAA “eligibility exile.” Could he not go to Simon Rec and run sprints? I’m sure the last thing Ford wants is for a guy to get hurt trying to take some junior poli sci major to the rack for an and-1, but my god. I’m so sick and tired of the excuses Ford has just oozing out of a Sam’s Club size jar of excuses. Could he ever just slam his wrist on his chest in an act of contrition and “mea culpa” some things? That would actually delight the out of me.

I was at the women's game the night before as well as last night's game. The Hawk was flapping for that one too.

I've read that that the person (or persons) who does that job is considered a team manager (thus the scholarship) and it may well be that they rotate the assignment some.

I thought that the wings looked much larger on the new bird (so more work) but it may be too that the material is lighter. Anyway, it's a job that looks rather grueling.

I hope they have a line of credit at the closest dry cleaner to Hawk Hill. The inside of that thing has to be deliciously aromatic.

Its funny that now this board finally wants Ford's head.  We haven't defended a three point shot since he has been here.  I've wanted him fired for at least 5 years. But I was a "Troll" for saying so.   This year I have  been mostly silent. Honestly, theres been no reason to comment. Its a disaster.  But now we find out that Ford literally has his kid trying to defend his sorry reputation online with fake twitter accounts.  I wonder if little Ford Jr. is lurking on this board.  Maybe he has been leading the charge against me for years...  Who knows how many accounts he has.

Either way...I was right the entire time and everyone owes me an apology.  Ford cannot coach and he wasted Goodwin and Collins, and now has a team that is Crews level. He has never once won a big game or made adjustments to figure things out at halftime.   The Isabell run was a fluke fueled by a player that almost didn't happen anyway because of what....ANOTHER WIDE OPEN THREE.  I will never forget when that shot went up from the corner I was praying it missed.  It did and we got to the dance only to be neutered by Va Tech.   But yea, Ford can recruit but thats it. And honestly I am not sure if he can even do that. It might be all on Corey Tate.

    Happy New Year.
