  1. I believe you were the one who wanted to bet? Just make sure you have at least $1000 of that net worth left in 15 years. I'll be coming for my money.
  2. Here's an update on the former Billiken great. http://www.netsdaily.com/2016/5/12/11665308/willie-reed-i-love-brooklyn-id-love-to-be-back
  3. "tried to insult"? Really? I merely pointed out that since Willie earned nearly $1million this year, he made far more than, probably, all of us. Pretty good for a fool. I didn't like it when he left SLU either, but I'm not bitter. Evidently, he realized that he wasn't on track to get accepted to SLU's School of Dentistry, so he decided to concentrate on basketball full-time. The guy wasn't a 4 or 5 star recruit. I don't recall much demand for his services from other schools. He benefitted greatly from Majerus' tutelage, for which he has expressed gratitude. Many here laughed at his chances to ever make the NBA, but the guy worked extremely hard, and made it, for at least one year, which is light years better than 99.9% of basketball players. Based on all the evidence that I've seen, he's a quality guy. So, what's the wager? A more accurate measure will be Willie's net worth at age 40 vs. 75% of the posters. I'll put $1000.00 on Willie. Get back to me in 15 years with your cash.
  4. Willie Reed is not a fool. He was screwed over by SLU administration as a result of "the Situation", and he also couldn't cut it, academically. Is everybody that flunks out of SLU a fool? Willie Reed has demonstrated an admirable work ethic; toiling several years in the minor leagues to finally make it to the NBA. By all accounts, he's a very hard worker, and a devoted family man. I, for one, hold him in very high regard as one of my top-10 favorite Billikens of all time. By the way, Willie's annual salary right now is about 10 times more than 75% of the people that post here- not bad for a fool. It's completely foolish to call Willie Reed a fool
  5. No way does a stiff like Bryce Drew sign any of these three studs.
  6. Not even close Team RPI LaSalle 298 Mizzou 224 SLU 207 G Mason 203 Fordham 188 Auburn 179 UMass 174 Duquense 161 Miss St 154 Tenn 142
  7. Huh??? But, moving forward, Travis Ford's record in the A-10 will be better than Bryce Drew's in the SEC.
  8. Some of the above sounds like unsubstantiated opinion rather than fact. Was Drew ever really a front runner? Based on everything I've read, it appears that the SLU administration chose Ford over Drew. Whether or not Drew would have accepted the position is irrelevant, since it wasn't going to be offered to him anyway. There really are a lot more question marks with Drew than with Ford. Let's face it, looking at the big picture, historically, Valparaiso sucks. This year, Valpo was 26-5 in the regular season and 16-2 in conference play, and they were still snubbed by the NCAA. Why? Because the Horizon Conference stinks, and so does Valparaiso. Have they ever been nationally ranked? Butler University is the model for national success in the Horizon Conference, and Valparaiso falls far short of that model. Sure, Bryce has done a good job of carrying on with a winning tradition that he inherited from his brother and dad, ( similar to Jimbo Crews) but can he make it at the next level? To a Valpo fan, going to the NIT finals is just a step short of reaching the mountain top. However, my guess is that Coach Ford would consider an NIT appearance as a sign that more work needs to be done. But, Travis Ford is 1-6 in NCAA appearances!!! Bryce is 0-2. Look at Ford's record. Everywhere he has gone, he has inherited down programs and turned them around. Can Bryce do that? We don't know. As a rabid Billikens fan for the last 35+years, in my humble opinion, the SLU administration has really stepped up their game over the last 10, or so, years. They have significantly upgraded the facilities, they brought in a HOF coach that put SLU back on the basketball map. They dumped Crews as quickly as could be expected. So now, I am trusting that they are making the right decision on hiring Travis Ford. NCAA tournament in 3 yrs...or less! GO BILLS!!!
  9. Georgia Tech has to settle for Drew, since SLU got Ford first.
  10. Reportedly, May wanted to go after Coach K, but the other guys convinced him that K is too old. Feel free to correct me, but as far as I can tell, other candidates were interviewed, but Travis Ford was the only coach that was offered the job. Bryce Drew was not interviewed, and he was not offered the job. Evidently, Ford was considered more desirable than Drew, and I agree.
  11. After reading several articles about the hiring, it appears the SLU administration chose Travis Ford over Bryce Drew and everyone else. He was their #1 choice. Upon further reflection, I have to say that I agree with the administration. I'm all in! Next stop- THE BIG DANCE!!!
  12. One thing is clear from watching the press conference-Travis Ford is gonna bring in better talent that Bryce would have.
  13. Good to see that Menace was inspired enough by the Ford hire to put down the crack pipe for a few minutes to make a lucid comment, and he's correct. Travis Ford's resume is head and shoulders above the resume of every other incoming Billikens coach, other than Majerus. Ford is a logical heir to the Kentucky Wildcat's throne. Let's just hope the Bills can hold on to him until Cal retires or is banned from the NCAA.
  14. Actually, I'd rather have Scott Drew as SLU's coach. Hopefully, Scott has taught his brother how to recruit.
  15. Listen Menace...unlike you and your fellow Venice, Ill degenerates, SLU requires their scholar athletes to be proficient in the 3 R's. While JUCO transfers may be able to hack it, academically, at the likes of SPUMAC and Methdale, most of them can't cut the mustard in the hallowed halls of Saint Louis University.
  16. Scotty Skiles would coach circles around the likes of Bryce Drew; not to mention, significantly out recruit him, too. Sure, if you want to join the MVC, Bryce is your guy. He'll win a conference tournament every now and then, and we're dancing. However, if you want to be a consistent top-40 program,a perennial NCAA tournament participant with national name recognition, you won't go wrong with Scotty. Scott should make his hiring contingent on SLU joining the Big East! He's got that kind of pull.
  17. I'm hearing some chatter about Scotty Skiles. He's on the outs with Orlando, and reportedly tired of the NBA grind. Without a doubt, he'd be a good fit for SLU! Dr Chaifetz...get out your checkbook!
  18. No you couldn't. Crew's record, other than the two years that Majerus gifted him, is mediocre, at best. Forget about his horrific record at Army (59-140!!!). In 17 years as head coach at Evansville, he never cracked the AP top 25. Not even after Coach Bobby Knight gifted him the legendary Mardy Simmons for a couple years. 17 years-294-209. Since 1985, when Jim Crews started as Evansville's head coach, SLU would have NEVER considered him as a candidate for head coach in any other circumstances than the incredibly fortunate position JC fell into with HOF coach Rick Majerus.
  19. Team Destiny! If the Bills win the A-10 tournament, I wonder what their NCAA seed will be?
  20. First things first. The team's got to take care of business and get soundly defeated by St. Bonaventure, and one and done in the A-10 tourney. Then, Crews will be gone within a month.
  21. Yeah, momentum for the #FIRE JIM CREWS movement, and good riddance to the worst Billikens' coach in the modern era!
